For one thing, mulatto is a pretty racist term to use and using Obama's biracial status as a way to discount his blackness is really lovely (it's also a tactic to mention how he doesn't count, because Republicans insist black Republican politicians or candidates mean Republicans aren't racist, which would mean a black Democrat president would make Dems not racist). I also question how many people referring to black Romney voters in the way the person describes are themselves black. If it's a majority, it seems less racist and more racialized, which isn't necessarily the same thing. Here's a picture of Fritz Eichenberg's Black Crucifixion to go with talk about black people. Eichenberg did a lot of woodblock prints for the Catholic Worker newspaper. Apparently they were originally public domain but the copyright is owned by some private gallery. I don't know, it's been a while since I did a little bit of research into why his collection of prints is out of print and selling for $200. It's unfortunate, dude had a lot of great Christian and socialist artwork.

There is one valid point in there (being generous and assuming the response to Stacey Dash was actually anywhere close to what is implied) mixed in with a whole heap of ignorance. Clinton got 84% of the black vote, Gore 90%, Kerry 88% and Obama 95%, so to trot out "well, 95% of black people voted for the mulatto, so who's the real racist" is pretty ignorant/bigoted. I post a bit on a forum that's mostly center-right, just like Obama and my main defence of him there is that both sides will screw us over, but at least Obama will be gentle about it. I also question how many people referring to black Romney voters in the way the person describes are themselves black. If it's a majority, it seems less racist and more racialized, which isn't necessarily the same thing. It's particularly hilarious in the context of the United States, because for decades, it was impossible to get benefits out of the mild whiteness of your biracial status, not just because people weren't that discerning when they looked at you on the street, but because the mother loving Supreme Court of the mother loving United States of America got together and explicitly ruled that it was appropriate that a person with even just a single black ancestor could be pegged irredeemably to the colored underclass. And though they got around to overturning the salient ruling of the case in, they never really readdressed the racial identity bullshit, so the next time someone goes spouting this nonsense about Obama "not counting" (as if there's any technicality to race beyond how you look and present), you can slap that fuckface down with some goddamned constitutional loving precedent! What's the only state in the country that counts these days? Ohio. Back when my family lived in Ohio, we would occasionally make buckeyes. Named after the things that drop off of trees and were thrown at each other by children, they're (essentially) balls of peanut butter dipped in chocolate, and they're super-delicious. There's a recipe here: http://sweets.seriouseats.com/2010/09/how-to-make-peanut-butter-chocolate-buckeyes-candy-recipe.html but I can't vouch for its accuracy. (I'll have to get in touch with my mother for a proper recipe.)
