I'm gonna vouch for Boywhiz88. I'm listening to Crystal Castles' III for the first time now, and it sounds just spectacular. Doesn't really sound like they ripped off anyone. It's a very weird but coherent album. It almost sounds like after 2, they went and hooked up with Sleigh Bells and this is the lovechild that came out of that. It's a real headrush.

JAK3
Nov 15, 2012

My name is JAK3. I'm an independent electronic artist, and I am working on my debut album for release in early 2013!

I've been producing for many years, but mostly for other people, and I got tired of making beats for rappers, so I decided to do my own thing and make the sort of music that I want to make.

I know that a lot of people do not like heavy use of autotune, so if you are one of them, then you may want to skip me... but if you don't mind heavily processed vocals (or think they sound beautiful like I do) , then please please check me out. I would place the genre in "electronic pop" , but the album will be a mixture of the electro sound heard in "Empty Avenue" and also a psychedelic rock sort of vibe.

I'm still in the very early phases of being a solo artist and trying to build my audience - but music creation and the music industry are my two passions, so I know that with enough dedication and hard work I will get to the level that I aspire to be at. If you dig my stuff, please share it with anyone else you think may like it, and even if you don't like it, thank you so much for giving me a chance and listening to my music!!

Here's the video for my first single, Empty Avenue (my first iTunes release!!)

Judging by the acoustic version you really should not bother making anything "for the autotune haters," seeing as every component of it is badly out of tune.

Seriously though, guys, I appreciate that not everyone likes what I'm doing -- that's one of the cool things about art. I would never expect to post anything, anywhere, and have 100% positive feedback. I'm okay with you guys who aren't fans of my work. I'm not going to keep replying to everything, though. I love hearing feedback, and certainly there are bound to be those of you who just absolutely despise my art, and that's ok, and I won't defend myself against everyone who says "this is awful".

have you considered spending less time on your Image and Web Presence and more time on your music? this is not a joke, seeing a guy with this super contrived I'm Gonna Be Famous website and video and whatever else and 38 twitter followers and such a limited output musically i think immediately tips people off that "this artist doesn't enjoy what they're doing and is just trying to make a living." you look like you're just trying to sell us poo poo and in the process coming off like the human embodiment of that internet explorer 9 dubstep commercial. i don't know about you but i don't wanna hang out with internet explorer 9, i don't wanna go to internet explorer 9's concerts, and i don't wanna buy internet explorer 9's music off itunes.

all this is ignoring the music itself which i think is super derivative and bland but it's not really up my alley to begin with and i could potentially see, like, fratty teenagers liking this, so at least there's an audience out there for you somewhere?

Yeah, I almost made this same post but figured it would fall on deaf ears. Since it's already been said I may as well echo it though. Here's how I see your priorities:
1) Visual presentation (I mean your video is 3d for gently caress's sake)
2) INTERNET PRESENCE (registering and buying an avatar just to promote your poo poo on SA)
3) Designing a logo (actually not too sure about this one since it also seems like you just stole it, but since you feature it so prominently I feel like you spent more time figuring it out than your lovely song)
4) the Music Industry (you even talk about how the industry is a passion of yours which seems kind of hosed Up since most, if not all, great musicians only deal with the industry to make a living and it is pretty removed from the actual creative process)
5) finally, your music

I think you can figure out why that's bad.

Edit: In case my point needed anymore reinforcement, you have 2 more t-shirt designs than you have songs released.

I generally like overproduced electronic music with heavily autotuned vocals, but the point of that stuff is so you can overlay a melody; the production values of Empty Avenue seem impressive but I can't hear a tune or even a real rhythm. It sounds like you're just repeating the same chord with minor variations.
