I think he's been mentioned on the podcast before and he had nice things to say about him. Maybe he just thinks it wouldn't work?

And speaking of listening to old episodes, I went through 3 to 10 again over the last few months and it only just occurred to me how insufferable Jimmy Dore and Paul Gilmartin can be. Paul can be fine when Jimmy calls him out on his pompousness, but man all of Dore's appearances are as bad as Fitzsimmons' was. I still wonder if Todd Glass left Comedy and Everything Else because he couldn't put up with him anymore.

"Insufferable" is the exact word I would use to describe Jimmy Dore. Post-Todd CAEE is downright unlistenable.

I remember trying to listen to CAEE because I loved Todd Glass on NNF, and the entire time feeling like Dore just constantly sucked all the fun out of the room. I'm glad I'm not alone. I think Pardo once described him as a 14 year old who just discovered USA Today.

The tipping point for me was how he kept arguing with Pardo when they announced they weren't going to allow the use of "human being" on the show anymore. Pardo kept insisting it was because of heartfelt letters he'd received from listeners who wanted to like the show but were having a hard time digesting the content because how often the word was being thrown around, and Dore just kept railing on about how it was censorship and you should be offending your audience and on and on. He's the only guest whose episodes I intend to skip from now on.

He reminds me of a watered down Amazing Atheist- uninformed, knee-jerky, childish, and ultimately damaging to his own causes.

Also, was it true that Dore was mad that Todd Glass didn't come out on his show instead of Marc Maron's? I assumed that was something Pardo said as a joke but if that's true he's pretty vile.

You know a fun thing to do if you have every season? Pick a frequent guest (I recommend Dave Holmes and Graham Elwood) and go back and listen to each of their appearances in order and see how many times they talk about the exact same thing in slightly different ways.

If you want to go even deeper, Listen to a Todd Glass episode, then search out any other Podcast he was on that same week and listen to him say the exact same thing in the exact same way.

He can be hysterical when he's self aware, but man does he get on his high horse when he doesn't have a leg to stand on. His last appearance made me like him a little more when Jimmy called him out on it (Paul giving Jimmy poo poo about his spending, then revealing he blew 75 grand on domain names- "you've got balls making fun of my LeBaron") and he began to open up more about his anxieties. I still get annoyed with his proselytizing in earlier episodes but now that I see where it's coming from I can relate to him. He's the first guy to recognize his own flaws in other people, which if you're not aware that he's aware he's doing it, comes off as obnoxious.

That said, I also can't be mad at the man who elicited "bag of corn, friend!" out of Jimmy. Or was that Graham?

I really thought when first listening to the famous 505 that there was no hostility meant, good to see they have patched it up.

It was Graham, who also has his fair share of haters.

The Fitzsimmon's episode was surprisingly cordial, especially in contrast to 505. What's interesting (to me at least) is if you listen to Greg Fitzsimmon's podcast with Jimmy on it as guest it actually starts with Greg acting very similar to the way he acted on 505 (giving Pardo no reaction to his jokes) and then slowly either Pardo starts winning him over or Fitzsimmons starts faking it. By the end of the episode Greg seems like a completely different person.

The fact that Bill Burr hasn't been on yet boggles my loving mind. And it's not a scheduling thing cause they record their podcasts at the same time except Bill does his laying in his bed or on his couch. Maybe Jimmy's just afraid of another Fitzsimmons incident?

I love that fences have been mended betweeen Fitz and Pardo. An unexpectedly awesome episode.

Has anyone here been to one of the NNF live shows? The next time he comes to NYC I absolutely have to go.

The first handful of post-Schmidt episodes I thought, "Ugh this is gonna suck, Belknap is awkward and terrible". Now I can't imagine the show without him, often the funniest moments are his.

I started listening to NNF mid-2011 and I'm only midway through season 6 right now, but Belknap was initially the most sympathetic character. Season 1 Episode 1, the very first topic of discussion was his bizarre Paula Abdul fanaticism during his early teenage years and airing that sort of thing publicly had to have been really embarrassing. I remember listening to that first episode and thinking Jimmy sounded like a pissed off old man. Obviously I've warmed up to him considerably since then and recognize his talent, but he must make a lot of terrible first impressions because not everyone's idea of humor is "say something terrible about someone and assume they know you intended it to be jocular." You expect it from people like Rickles or Dangerfield who had established shticks but that sort of playful antagonism can be off-putting.

Schmidt seriously impresses me and I admire his ability to ad lib on so many topics with such caustic delivery/turns of phrase, but the show definitely came into its own once he left. However, for me nothing has yet topped the story of him hiding in his neighbors' bathtub while their mom used the toilet. I should really get around to listening to his podcast because he was a hell of a storyteller.

At any rate, I'll probably continue buying this show until either me or the hosts die.

I just have to say that I absolutely loved when Matt brought his recorder at some point during season 1 and I think that needs to make a reoccurence. Hopefully for their next big get Belknap can just lay down some backing music for the show

How much you enjoy his podcast depends on how much you can tolerate his producer/sidekick Lili cackling with hilarity at EVERY SINGLE loving WORD OUT OF HIS MOUTH. Good luck.

This is spot-on. I love Jimmy but sometimes when he relates an experience like this I just think "well what the hell did you expect?"

Has anyone else watched Write Now! with Jimmy Pardo?

The premise is Jimmy has three comedians/writers/ect. sit on stage while a comedian performs. The three writers write jokes that heckle the performer; Jimmy reads them to the audience and picks a winner based on who had the best joke.

I've enjoyed it and recommend checking it out (it's free anyway so what the hell).

I haven't watched the videos yet, but there have been several bonus episodes of the show when it was called "The Writer's Room". I've never liked it as much as NNF or "Running Your Trap" (now called "Bluff You") but it's okay.
