I just got ZombiU to see if it's really as good as everyone says. I loved the Silent Hill games and while I've not tried any of the Souls series my roommate swears I'd love them because "you're better at video games than I am and I like it." Also to get some sweet, sweet Club Nintendo points so I can get that gold nunchuck. If I get it then all my WiiMotion Plus remotes will have matching nunchucks. Hope I didn't make a huge mistake

My wife and I bought a Wii U for our "Christmas present" that we haven't opened yet. We have a hacked Wii, which we adore, but no X360 or PS3. We are not huge gamers, so the Wii U seemed like an obvious choice at first. Buuuuuuttttt.... I'm starting to have doubts about our purchase. I'm sitting here looking at $350 system that has a "demonstration disk" attached to it, every game is running $50-60, I'm seeing criticism of the long term viability of the platform relative to X720 and PS3, and all I REALLY, REALLY am looking forward to is the Mario Brothers game. Thinking of just taking it back (before we open it) and getting an X360 instead. The graphics would seem to be about comparable and there are a bunch of games that I've never touched that look like a lot of fun that are running $10-20 each on X360. What to do, what to do....

It always has been. Which exclusive content is more important to you? Also, if the decision is between a Wii U and a 360 it might be worth considering that the 360's price is likely to drop very fast once the 720 is released in about a year or so (I think?) so owning both might not be out of the question.

There's no doubt that the next version of Xbox or PlayStation will run circles around the Wii U. Nintendo knows that. We (mostly) know that. Just have fun.

I asked this last week but didn't get a response, so I'll try one more time: I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but I'm only getting PCM 2.0 instead of 5.1 with my Wii U hooked up to my receiver via HDMI. In the system settings I made sure that "Surround" was selected, and when I do the chime test, it sounds like I get it from all speakers. While using Netflix, I only get sound coming out of my two front speakers, and I can't even switch to Dolby Pro Logic II since it's forcing 2.0. Same thing while playing Nintendoland and NSMBU. The only other place I can find any mention of this is on another forum where some people are reporting the same thing. I'm sure it's not my receiver or the HDMI cable, because I can get DTS-HD Master Audio and uncompressed PCM 5.1 no problem with my Blu-ray player. Is there anything I missed that's causing this?

I know Ghost Recon Online is now up in the air since it's not doing so hot on the PC (we're talking open beta and like 12 people on it at a time). Also I think THQ are the people that started the whole "WiiU processor is too slow" thing. They're making the most graphic-intensive game since Metro 2033 so it's no wonder. drat, missed the Scribblenauts conversation. I actually owned the Wii U version for a few days, but traded it in for ZombiU because it got boring pretty quickly. Finding creative solutions to puzzles is fun, but a lot of the time it won't recognize your intent, and some things in the game are downright retarded. Case in point: there is an underwater level where one of the puzzles is to get rid of some barrels of leaking radioactive waste. I gave Maxwell a gun, and had him shoot the barrels. The barrels died, puzzle solved. It's a fun game for awhile, and coming up with a clever solution to a puzzle is awesome when it works, but it's not worth $60. It's not worth $40. It's something you wait to buy until it's in the bargain bin for $10.

Harry Potter on Ice posted:People just are not as die hard about the wii as they are ps3 or 360 It's (mostly) just a dick waving contest. I have a PS3, 360, Wii U, and an expensive gaming computer. I have wanted to sell my 360 for some time, but my wife still plays Fable on it occasionally, so it has stuck around. Still, I have no reason to own a 360. I don't care about Halo and the only other 360 exclusive I have had any desire to play in the last year is the Spelunky remake. Honestly, I only keep around the PS3 because it does seem to have some unique content (via exclusives and the PSN content). By having a decent gaming computer I effectively eliminate any reason to own a 360 or PS3. My computer will (probably) not be outclassed by these new systems and I can get the games on discount from awesome online retailers. Because the 360 and PS3 are in competition with PC as a platform they are going to generate extreme reactions. The Wii isn't in competition with any product because it is first and foremost a platform for Nintendo games. I think that's why a Wii owner won't come out like most console warriors. I wouldn't want a Wii as my only gaming platform because it is a product designed for more niche appeals. If it's your only game system then yeah, you might want to look elsewhere, but if it isn't then why care about minor hardware issues? Honestly you can build a gaming PC and recoup the extra cost versus an X720 or PS4 via Steam sales and actually being able to use a PC for other tasks, if you are looking to max the return on a dollar investment.

I've been playing Blops 2 since launch, and finally decided to give the single player a look. So far, I haven't noticed any slowdown. I can't say it isn't there, just that I didn't notice it. I can, however, say that the game looks just as good as it does on the 360. Also, the number of players online has doubled over the last few days. I wasn't surprised that the first few days of a Nintendo system launch only saw a few huhdred players online for a M rated shooter.

I don't know, I wouldn't test it, Nintendo has already proven they are religiously dedicated to keeping Miiverse clean, and I believe the heavy moderation is the only reason it's so cool right now. What I'm wondering though is when they're going to totally redo the UI. The community list works now because there's only a handful of games out, but what happens when it's this time next year and there are hundreds of titles? I love it but they clearly slapped this together last-second.

Because if you play long sessions you might need charging. Heres the thing, the cord is not heavy near the gamepad and doesnt interfere with gameplay(even gyroscope games like some nintendoland ones), Ive even heard reviewers who said its just easier to leave it plugged in always. So there's that.
