What's this thing? I mean sometimes there's basically straight up italo released. But is it a trend.. cause i mean people seemed to have noticed it more and it's been steady growth of popularity.

Very deserved imo. There's not even any need for new tracks, there's tens of thousands out there. which is something i wanted to bitch about. Why are people HOARDING them so hard in regards to rips? They think the value will go down? I was looking for people to make work an agreement with to rip some of their collection and share the love but they all HATE the idea.

There's been some italo stuff floating around out there for a while. I don't know if its growing in popularity, I think there has been a kind of "baseline" of artists dabbling in it. Though it hasn't quite bubbled up yet, so to speak.

I highly recommend Wolfram. His album from last year, "Permanent Vacation", is probably the best bit of modern italo-disco out there:

Thanks! It's only a preview, sadly. People have uploaded the full version to YouTube I believe. It didn't come out that long ago so the label preferred me not streaming the full thing right off the bat. But everything else on there is either a full stream or free download.

Just FYI Flume is one guy, but he's also one half of What So Not with some other Sydney dude. I like his sound but I feel he's getting a lot of hype just because he's Australian. What So Not's remixes are getting played a lot in Melbourne clubs at the moment too.

Voices from the Lake/Donato are terrific.

I saw Simian Mobile Disco last night for the second time, their live shows are so incredible. They played everything I wanted to hear except for Audacity of Huge but made up for it by playing some unexpected classics like Hustler and I Believe. Their encore was a tweaked out Sleep Deprivation. JDH and Dave P opened and were really fun, too.

Of course I'll also be playing some Big Freedia, but are there any other good leads? Especially along the electrohouse or French house genre.

I'm a little late but this is a pretty dirty song, more juke than house and it gets a little much for me by the end but it's the first thing I thought of on reading your post.

Never been to Belgium

Well a Disclosure remix of an Artful Dodger track, rather than an actual Disclosure track.

I was always a bit iffy on Disclosure in the past. Maybe it was the fact their first singles were 7"s (come on boys you gotta give people something to play with!) but recently it's been sounding like they've been finding their feet a bit. I guess sometimes you need a bit of time on the pitch to get properly match fit. Anyway I like this take, though I always thought Please Don't Turn Me On was one of the weaker Artful tracks.

Actually Stanton Warriors (before they turned kinda mince) did a couple of nice remixes of this track back in the day. Shocked it's not on Youtube. Though that's all falling in with the UKG stuff (just like the Disclosure mix actually I guess) so for anyone liking all this kinda sound it crops up more over in the UK Bass thread.
