demonR6 posted:Have you checked out mixing.dj? I stumbled across that site and it has been a treasure trove of mixes. I cannot begin to tell you many mixes I have downloaded over the last few months via that site not to mention how many new DJ's I had never heard of with some killer poo poo. I sometimes cannot keep up with the volume of stuff that they post there but suffice to say I am not at a loss for music now. I have a 160 GB usb drive that I plug into my car which helped liberate me from satellite radio once and for all. I only had the account for Area 51 and Electric Area but mostly Electric Area for the shows. Either way, that website was by far the best thing I have found in a while for mixes, plus it does not cost a dime and you do not have to have an account to listen or follow download links. Yup, great site, its been around for a long time. With soundcloud, mixcloud, and all of the download links posted everywhere theres definitely no shortage of mixes / sets to discover. I was moreso looking to gauge if there was any interest in bigger name / popular beatport type stuff in this thread, it seems to be more underground stuff.

Really boring to listen to producers spin their own poo poo for an hour when it's formulaic. That might be Webster Hall's audience as much as Kill Paris. Was Joker good at least? The under-21 scene in New York kind of sucks but once you're old enough to get in places or you get a fake your options open up a lot. I loving hate Webster Hall as a venue- it seems like it books people to play sets like that and attracts a crowd that doesn't care/doesn't know better.

I mean the thing is Webster is 19+, so I would say over half the crowd was above 21 given all the beers. Joker was very good. He spun a lot of his stuff, but he kept it interesting by incorporating the likes of TNGHT and N.E.R.D. Kill Paris was just pretty bad. Barely mixing the tracks. Playing his own songs one after one (but not letting them finish). Also he uses the same synth patch for every bassline, which got old really quickly.

What are alls yalls thoughts on Wolfgang Gartner? He's playing here next week. I haven't really listened to him much; I checked out some stuff on youtube and I'd describe it as okay, didn't really jump out at me. But if he's known for putting on a good show it might still be fun. edit: Okay, Redline (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G-z6gj2z-Vw) is pretty good. The tracks that you posted aren't exactly what I think of when I think of "heavy" (like at all no offense - if you want like, actually heavy just say the word). But, here are some tracks that I would play potentially out of those. Steffi - 24 Hours (just wait for the bassline to come in at about 1 min, if you pull it off just right in a mix, it's 5/5) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YghTv9ll9Ws Scuba - Hardbody (no lie scuba is a toolbag, but this would work imo) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnznvETexBc Recondite - DRGN https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yzZrV1SAOfI

I just meant heavy as in a darker harsher noise, that scuba song is somewhat close and something I definitely like, but I'd say more darker and the latter half of the recondite song is similar to the sound I'm looking for but preferably with a little more energy. Here's some tracks I'd throw in just for reference. Andrea Doria - Bucci Bag (Mumbai Science Edit) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pXrqJfk0SOk Brodinski - Hypnotize https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-26RfIQ08uM Jean e La Plastique - Flick (Doc Trashz Remix) https://soundcloud.com/doc-trashz/jean-e-la-plastique-flick-doc Jesper Dahlback - Diode Ladder https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3v6Dj_KbwY Bumblebeez "Rodeo" (Franz & Shape Remix) (also this song is just the fuckin' best, so any acid tracks like this are welcome) https://soundcloud.com/franzandshape/bumblebeez-rodeo-franz-shape

Moombahton has definitely been pulled in two directions. I feel like there's a lot of people making "true" Moombahton with Dem Bow style influence and then there's a HUGE market for Moombahton/Moombahcore music that takes a lot of aspects from bad American Dubstep. The 108-110 range seems like a natural fit for some more bass heavy music though.
