I love how people are freaking out about how cats kill small things, like that's not what people liked about them in the first place. Cute, cuddly, and keep the grain mice-free.

so I just did some googling and apparently there are about 83 million cats in the usa at 3.7 billion birds killed by cats, how many birds per cat is that on average (sorry i'm lazy at maths)
|
# ? Jan 31, 2013 06:33 |
|
it's a little less than a bird a week per cat
|
# ? Jan 31, 2013 06:36 |

44.6, call it ~45 per cat. Roughly ~240 small mammals. So combined, your cat kills 288 animals a year.

sorry, correction: there are about 80 million cats living in households and there are about 60 million feral cats. so let's say there are 150 million total that brings the number of murders per cat down some, but still I have 7 cats and see a dead bird maybe 4 times a year rats and mice, probably a dozen but like... that's what cats are for

beatlegs posted:a heartwarming story on imgur about a catte who went through some hard poo poo and came out victorious And I thought that you read this thread religiously I wish those people saying that cats murder relentlessly would have made an honest comparison with how many human beings are killed by human beings, because when I think of awful predators, those I think of have no pointy ears and try to find better places to barf than on a carpet Think of Refurb, the dangerous predator, but with two legs instead of three. Now that makes me ultra paranoid about one-legged pirates of the past. O-o

I know I had a sensitivity to cat dander but it went away after I got cats. Miserable couple of months though. Still worth it.

i don't get a lot of time with awake-faraday these days. he's almost always asleep when i come back from class and is awake at night or for feeding time in the morning. he wants attention the most when i have to get ready in a hurry and leave the house. i miss spending time with my buddy.

If Elmer is asleep on the couch I sometimes use him as a pillow cause it is cute and he seems to be cool with it for a couple minutes. He was doing this earlier today- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLv2dlGs2og I opened the shades and he wandered off.
