This is the first single from Lorde, a young artist from Auckland, New Zealand - and when I say young, she's only 15. I have been playing the hell out of her EP this week, and I think it's pretty solid :yaycloud:

EP and singles available here for free. Free!

This is pretty good! I'll have to give the EP a listen. Thanks for posting it!

Two solid singles in Breakers and Heavy Feet, some really pretty moments in Three Months and Mt. Washington, and a really strong second half as a whole. Top marks and all that.

These guys had never done much for me in the past, but I'm enjoying this one quite a bit. I really like "Ceilings," too.

But yeah, this is a great album, reminds me of The Walkmen's later sound kinda. I enjoyed their first album a lot but this is a step up, even if there are no really catchy songs.

Hummingbird is so much better with headphones. I listened to it yesterday, well I was cleaning my house, and it was alright. Last night, with a good pair of headphones? Stunning. I was going to fall asleep to it but I ended up listening to the whole thing.

I concur, this album is really really good. I particularly like "Colombia." The whole album is really personal, which I suspect is why headphones help.

I agree, it's not as catchy on the whole, none of the songs top the highlights of Gorilla Manor either. It seems more... dark, and laid back.

However, that doesn't mean it isn't interesting and enjoyable. I like it a lot and some of the songs are great, slow building tunes that are a pleasure to my ears. It's really good.

CoCo Beware is a really nice album. Nothing special, but I really liked it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FV_SS5LJZ-4

This is actually better than the album version and easily my favorite on the album. I absolutely love the vocal interplay during the main chorus, i.e., "They say you're wrong (It's all you have to give) It's alright, it's alright." The added percussion parts in the video make it hard to even listen to the album version anymore.

Anyways, I'm not a huge Ty Segall fan, but the first half of Slaughterhouse is pretty good, especially this song. It rox my sox.

Hayden just released an album for the first time in a while. He's a mopey singer-songwriter that sometimes goes a little too alt-country for my taste. He also does some pretty generic indie rock, but has been going since the mid-90s. He's decently known in Canada but not so much in the US. But he's one of the best I've heard when he's really depressing so if you like Leonard Cohen, Elliott Smith -- might be something to check out. The latest album is really minimal, recorded in his house mostly by himself. The album is all right, but it also includes "Instructions" which is incredibly depressing and great.
