I have a 150mb cable connection and I'm looking for a service that can max that out. Are there any capable? I can't get faster than 7MB/sec with blocknews. Also do I have to be a VIP to get invites for nzb.su? I've been using them for over a year and have never received any.

If anyone is looking for block accounts, thecubnet is having a deal for 25GB blocks for $1.29 https://www.thecubenet.com/clients/cart.php?pid=8&promocode=FBtest5 You can open the link multiple times to add multiple 25GB blocks, but each will have their own login info. Apparently you can email support to combine them. Although it isn't on the Usenet pic that floats around, near as I can gather it is a Highwinds reseller.

I just switched from NZB Unity based on this recommendation and you're right, it's fantastic. I don't know why I stuck with Unity so long since it barely followed any Android guidelines. You couldn't even back out of the app; you had to use the menu to exit.

Any recommendations for a newsreader to actually... you know... read usenet? As in not a binary grabber? There are so freakin' many of them, the desire not to narrow down the list outweighs the desire to read the usenet groups, but if anyone has recommendations, I'm all ears.

Its becoming increasingly difficult to find rips that AREN'T spread across 2 files. I can understand wanting to cut down on file size, but there is absolutely no reason a DVD rip should be 3-4 GB in size, with ~1.5 GB on each "disc". I purposely avoid Blu-Ray rips so I don't eat up hard drive storage space. Anyone else notice this trend?

fancyclown posted:I think it's time you replace that 120GB HDD of yours, then you can get all the linux dists you want I have an external 1TB drive I dedicate to the downloads, I guess maybe I could upgrade to 2TB. My other concern is the amount of data I use in a given month downloading nzbs. My girlfriend and I watch hardly any TV and stick primarily with Netflix, HBOGo, AmazonPrime, and Hulu+, so any way I can cut down on that is helpful. Its just annoying how something that is supposed to actually a single "document" is split in two for some reason. And it makes it a pain for Plex to properly handle and categorize. I always found it pretty obvious how sizing worked for downloads. 700MB rip to fit on CD-R for playback on a divx compatible player 3-4GB rip for a DVD-R (straight copy) 8GB for a DL disc full copy bit for bit. and now everything is moving towards .mp4 so you dont even have to convert it for mobile devices. I find the scene pretty interesting actually and would love to know how stuff is decided on and so forth. anywhere that goes into detail about it?
