Acolyte is always good to have on a Valkyrie. And a Fury. And a Geth Trooper. And a Batarian Soldier. And a Krogan Shaman. Basically any class that doesn't come with a power for stripping shields but has a power for armor.

Nah, you'll get points for the assist, but it's at most half the points for the full kill.

If you killed ALL THE BANSHEES, you very well could have gotten 20k from three Silver games, they're worth a hair over 1.5k each.

Besides, I guess it's my fault, I should just back out when I see level 3 consumables being used on Bronze/Silver from now on.

I tried it with the quarian infil, really tore poo poo up.

Man I need to take a break from this game, every small thing this game happens that exists solely to piss me off is suddenly becoming huge, why yes I do like stagger chains, no I ain't mad that phantom synced killed me from 7 feet away when I rolled away from her TWICE, synced despite the enemy not having enough space for the animation so we just sorta stared at each other till I fell over, good poo poo.

And pubbies goddammit, if its wave 7 or above, use consumables you stupid pieces of poo poo, I can carry 2 people at most depending on the class, not the entire goddamn team. :argh:

On the bright side, I'm learning to play the volus protector, he ain't to bad, the orbs let him get away with heavy gear mods like the high velocity barrel, also armor piercing stuff on the Reegar is obscene. I took the cooldown evo on charge and its saved my rear end a few times, for once something in this games works when its supposed to.

It depends on who you use it on. It's more murderous on classes with weapon damage bonuses if you slap on the stability mod(Infiltrators, Soldiers with Marksman, the Destroyer, etc.) and for those with stability bonuses, the HV barrel will strip of armor as well as you strip off shields (Turians, the Destroyer). Once you get more levels on it or the ULM mod, it meshes really well with caster classes as an ammo power applicator for tech bursts, fire explosions, and cryo explosions.

Really it works well with everyone, it just needs some tweaks to suit your class and playstyle.

You could have every melee damage bonus with this build and have a pretty useful power too:

http://narida.pytalhost.com/me3/classes/#Infiltrator/NShadow/JFKIL/Disciple5AA1AA1////JuggernautShield5/

However as great as shadow strike can be, I find relying on it as my only power is dangerous because it's buggy. It doesn't work on some maps if an enemy is standing on stairs or a ramp. Sometimes inexplicably it doesn't do full damage to an enemy and Scions and cannibals can stagger you out of the attack on a good host, on a bad host just about any enemy that staggers. Not to mention all it takes is an enemy around the corner you didn't see and you're down even if your target successfully dies.

I prefer this build because you can safely hang back and kill lots of things without ever shooting your gun and only shadow strike when you're sure it's going to kill, and you can dodge and run your way out of trouble if you need. Also you probably have some strength gear that you're never going to use for anything else if you want to use it.

http://narida.pytalhost.com/me3/classes/#Infiltrator/NShadow/DPLIN/Disciple5AA1AA1////JuggernautShield5/
I am not sure the Shadow is worth using beyond silver. It's a pretty buggy and frustrating class that isn't even that great in optimum conditions, and is horribly crippled by latency and super vulnerable to certain enemies.

Despite being a single target assassination class, it is not good against bosses and is awesome at getting sync killed. Even when you consistently land shadow strikes on bosses, the damage is good but not that amazing given that you have to teleport right next to the now pissed off target. It's also no fun getting beaten and staggered out of stealthed shadow strikes by regular enemies, which happens a lot. If your team is actually alright, then shadow strike tends to be too slow, and you frequently will waste it on enemies that are killed before the strike connects. And it's not like you can just break off from your team, since the shadow is super brittle and enemies like to clobber you while you're trying to stealth around.

The class needs to be more durable and protected from staggers, and shadow strike should be like twice as fast as it is right now.

I honestly think that would be worse because usually even in rando games (although this banshee challenge has made people pretty cutthroat) people will try and pick you up if you go down. Good luck getting someone else to use a missile at a convenient time.

I'd love to argue with you because I enjoy playing it so much, but yeah, you're right. I do ok in killing things because I have a petty good idea as to how much health the strike will take or not, but even after a successful kill you drop dead from something around the corner so often that it can be pretty anger inducing.

Got ultra-light materials? Got a class that only uses one gun? Now they use two guns.

It makes a great up close-range backup for sniper infiltrators or a damage dump/ammo power tool for casters that need low cooldowns. Make sure you use the HV barrel or AP/Warp/Cryo ammo if you're playing above bronze/silver because it won't do poo poo against armor otherwise.

Just don't aim down the sights unless you're playing as a Turian or you're doubling up on stability with gear and a consumable. With anyone else, get closer and fire from cover whenever you're able.

Very few weapons beat it on raw DPS, nothing comes close on DPS/weight ratio.

Yea, the Justicar can get a silly amount of damage resistance from Reave and the bubble. And Reave is a spammable (Dark Channel is only active one target ever), instant-hit, AoE, stackable power.

You can't carry with a Shadow, and anybody who knows what they're doing will focus on trash instead of bosses anyway, making you completely redundant. It's also incredibly bad against reapers.

Last night I ran with a few of the people in this thread plus one competent pubbie. I think the squad configuration was Huntress (me) + Slayer (host) + Paladin + Volus, and this squad was just a bulldozer of pain. "Hey guys, we're gonna be back here. We got to wave 4 on Rio plat like this. Just so you know, if you guys stay up there you're on your own."

This has already been mentioned, but the fact that Reave can be applied multiple times to the same target and each one stacks is an easily missed important chunk of knowledge. Stacking reaves on a dude can do comparable damage to a cloaked dark channel, and reave with area will reliably hit 3 guys at once (when they're bunched up). Play with another biotic character who has a good ranged detonator (or another primer, as Reave can detonate too). Apply Reave to everything. You DID take the area upgrade, right? Listen to the sweet explosions as you and your buddy rip everything apart with your biotics.

The class is a little bit lacklustre on its own due to difficulties setting off explosions on armor from a distance (unless you happen to have a warp bubble where they're coming from). It shines like a motherfucker when you have a partner though.

I usually offset this by skipping Bubble entirely and packing an Acolyte and a Hurricane with Warp Ammo. Acolyte + Pull + Reave on small enemies for BEs and clearing out crowds, Reave spam + warp ammo'd Hurricane on Armor targets. Skipping Bubble and maxing out Fitness turns her into a less mobile, tankier Drell Adept.
