That was the easiest challenge yet. Unfortunately I got a Valkyrie out of it. Which I found that I do not care for. At all. Watched my buddy play with his geth juggernaut and that was hilarious. He had two primes and two flamers attacking him on silver and they could barely lower his shield. He just kept draining the prime. I must have that character.

So uh. Is this a COMMON bug right now, or did I just get turbofucked by the RNG? (I cannot pick it up, thus I cannot continue the mission, thus Oliver Queen here cannot complete the weekend challenge)

Spent a few games trying to make the Cabal Vanguard work for me. If its damage was higher, it'd be a drat good class. As is, zipping around the battlefield is very fun but not the most effective thing.

I'm guessing they'll be reluctant to patch at first so I would expect a buff to damage and maybe a reduction in the double dash penalty, those are both hotfix tweaks. The keybind bug for the T-Merc is really unfortunate, and will probably keep me from playing or caring about the class because . But they'll probably first try upping the damage on the arrows to make up for how unreliable they are.

Collectors are nastier than the others since Scions (since you're slow as poo poo) and Praetorians (if you let them get a hit in) can hurt you a lot. On the other hand, you can tank most of a late Gold Reaper wave at once.

I just played a London/Cerberus/Gold game, and during one wave a couple of Nemeses were bothering the heck out of me so I focused on them, but one seemed particularly annoying -- it turns out she'd become invulnerable. The problem took care of itself, though: when she was the last enemy left, she vaulted over some cover and fell through the ground to her death.

Absolutely, I have issues with "locking on" for the heavy melee many times, and unfortunately they mostly happen when I'm surrounded by a whole wave's worth of bosses with the most dangerous mooks sprinkled in. It hasn't happened with EVERY game I've played, but it's happened enough to be noticeable. Just like the HUD not showing objective progress, or not showing any of the teammates or badguys but still being affected by them, etc.

What's the best damage anyone has done with the Talon Engineer's omni-bow? I took some upthread advice claiming it could be made to work and equipped a pistol with melee stunner and power boost, put on Power Amplifier III and Strength Amplifier gear, took all the power boosts in the passive, all of the melee damage options in fitness, and the armor arrow to 6 with all of the damage and extra arrow options. And the heavy melee... Took two bars of armor off a scion. On silver. No thanks. Next try will be 6/6/0/6/6. Use concussion arrow quick melee for an area stagger that's semi-reliable, cain for most of the damage.

They've reused a lot of assets from the single player game for multiplayer characters so they likely made the Talon Merc look like Zaeed long before Robin Sachs died and it's just a coincidence.

Dan Didio posted:Or Bioware's far more sinister than ever expected. It seems like you really have to go all in on melee and power damage to get the bow to be useful at all so you'll be sacrificing health upgrades to do it which makes him really squishy. It was still pretty weak to me on gold even after throwing a bunch of melee damage gear and mods on, I still felt like I was better off just using my gun than messing around with the bow and getting myself killed a lot. The default arrows are laughably weak so there's no reason to ever fire it without one of the ammo powers loaded, which costs a grenade each time, and you'll usually be using the heavy melee lock on version which has a long animation (and sometimes gets stuck after you release the button, leaving you helpless until the bow automatically fires). The only time I got any mileage out of the light melee spread shot was to quickly bowl over rushing abominations or knock an engineer out of his turret placing animation. Playing with other grenade users will cause problems too, and unfortunately there's tons of grenade using kits now. The mines are very powerful when they work too. He's probably better than the initial judgment of total poo poo but he's still one of the weaker ones from the DLC.

Alternatively don't ever use the bow, spec out of AP Arrows to avoid the bug that sometimes disables Ammo Pack usage. The keybind reset is annoying but if you don't use too many custom binds you can rebind before wave 1 starts. Look at that stupid

I found that I couldn't hammer Praetorians at all unless it was going to be a killing blow, even if they were attacking somebody else they would always turn around and immediately grab me after I hit them. I had to just backpedal and use my gun whenever they would appear. I'm not sure if they even have a window where they're safe to melee like a Banshee.

Praetorians miiiiight be safe to melee if they haven't used their melee attack, like Atlases. Of course, they have no wind up, and can instantly 180 to whack you, then grab you. And the Hammer swings slow enough for them to just whack you immediately after getting hit.

Praetorians are kind of bullshit enemies for non-gun characters because of their power immunity and melee ->instant kills.

Praetorians do need to melee before they can grab you, but that doesn't matter because their melee is super fast and will stagger you into them. Attacking when they are floating is slightly safer, as then they have to land, melee, and then grab.

Insert name here posted:So what are the windows I should be hammering enemies with sync-kills? Like LogicNinja I'm literally garbage at not attacking things and I keep loving dying to sync-kills like an idiot. Phantoms need to slash you first before they go for the sync. Either their overhead slash or the one where they sorta spin and bring the sword down, either attack causes stagger, their next attack is pretty much guaranteed to be a sync kill, easily a vanguard's worst enemy due to their wonky hit detection and an absolute terror for anyone without a dodge. Atlases will slam the ground first, then they'll go for the grab. Banshees will only sync if they're warping, also sometimes they'll stop and walk for a little bit, they will also sync at that time, once they toss out their projectile attack, then its safe to smash them till you hear them screaming again Brutes, I'm not sure about their tell, maybe someone can fill us in. Scions will swing around their giant penis cannon first, then they'll sync you. Praetorians are also random, I've been ping ponged by them for ages sometimes, other times they smack me once and instantly go in for the sync. Atlases and brutes sync kill to fast to be stopped unless you get insanely lucky and a teammate was paying attention and had a rocket out before it happened, Banshees are slow enough that damage done to them quickly will cause them to drop their victim, same with praetorians. Phantoms, I've been saved a fair number of times, I don't know what caused it, I think one my teammates broke their sword before they could do the sync. Either way its also a fairly fast one. Its important to know the tells not just for melee classes but I've saved far to many teammates by predicting the sync kill and having a rocket ready. quote:Probably while they're shooting their eye lasers, but chances are they'll just turn around and gib you with them. Praetorians are kind of bullshit enemies for non-gun characters because of their power immunity and melee ->instant kills. Yea, they're supposed to shoot the eye laser 3 times but will turn around almost right away if something hits them from behind, it might be possible for 2 warlords to keep it distracted, one smashes it from the back, let it turn around, another smashes it on the back, rinse repeat till you crack it open. They can also shoot at you even if they aren't facing you. Alteisen fucked around with this message at 07:23 on Mar 2, 2013 |

I think Brutes have to do the "pound their chest and roar" thing before they can sync kill, their eyes glow red during that time. I got one earlier after I was hit by a standing claw attack from it. It was kind of embarrassing actually, especially since it was the extraction wave and everybody else got there with no problem.
