"Black Thanks" by Nick Holder. Chillin house track with audio from somewhere thanking a ton of influential people and organizations from black heritage and power. Some awesome choices for sure. Pretty funny to hear Ho Chi Minh next to W.E.B. Dubois next to Public Enemy. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5AEsnOon1o "It's a black thanks, you better understand." EDIT: btw is a short description too much to ask for the youtube videos? Personally I'm probably not gonna watch it unless theres at aleast a couple words letting me know what it is. InterFaced posted:Its so depressing. One of the reasons Bradley Manning's ordeal gets to me is when I think about it with myself in his shoes. If I came across a video showing guys in an attack helicopter acting like 8 year olds in front of a playstation, murdering journalists, then shooting up a guy who happens to drive by and wanted to help the wounded. I would have thought that this is it. This is the imagery that will get Americans to think differently about war. Weather or not I would have had the balls to do what he did is up for debate, but I would have felt the same. If you read the Manning-Lamo chat logs, it's obvious Manning was really depressed due to their gender issues at the time and the institutional transphobia that's amplified in the armed forces didn't really help. I know the person who owns that placard. She and her sister are absolutely amazing people. TinTower fucked around with this message at 06:51 on Mar 21, 2013 |

The hill that may have also won the war. quote:When the battle ended, the soil on the hill had been so thoroughly churned by shellfire and mixed with metal fragments that it contained between 500 and 1,250 splinters of metal per square meter. The earth on the hill had remained black in the winter, as the snow kept melting in the many fires and explosions. In the following spring the hill would still remain black, as no grass grew on its scorched soil. The hill's formerly steep slopes had become flattened in months of intense shelling and bombardment. Even today, it is possible to find fragments of bone and metal still buried deep throughout the hill. If you're not speaking German today, thank an American soldier. Then thank 14-20 Russian ones.

The extent to which WW2 in Europe was mostly a conflict between the Nazis and Soviets should get more attention: (each symbol represents 100k dead, skulls represent civilian deaths) Though impressive Soviet exploits in Asia also get overlooked.

It was the first time that any United Nations delegation had ever stayed in Harlem. The memorial complex at Mamayev Kurgan is pretty amazing. Pictures really don't do it justice. It's an incredibly moving piece of monumental art. I got the same feeling there I did the first time I visited the Vietnam Wall in DC, but it's on a totally different scale. I was going to upload some of my own photos, but this guy is a better photographer than me so I'll link his gallery instead. Volgograd is actually a nice town, with a much better climate than Moscow.
