No, they are terrible cars. They arent even that good as a runaround, which is exactly what they are built for. A lovely Suzuki Swift of all things shows how a runabout should be done and that's still not exactly a good car. But it's a drat good little runabout.

This was my original point. All the eco footpring/MPG poo poo aside, they drive like garbage, are noisy at speed and built out of cheap lovely parts. Its just a big expensive yet terribly made and horrible to use status symbol.

Diesel's more expensive than gas where I live, plus the Golf TDI and Prius MPG are pretty much the same. For a small family that drives a lot I can see the appeal. But yeah, if you want to be environmentally friendly, buy a used Fiesta or something.

I've not heard anything bad about the durability or reliability of the Prius. All 3 generations are running around quietly racking up miles.

I don't think the target audience cares how they drive. They're super ergonomic and have great utility. Plenty of people buy them for that, not status.
They're an incredibly un-AI car, but they're pretty awesome for the people who want to use them.

I'd recommend the TDI.

Also, the fuel mileage you get evens out the higher cost of diesel. But don't buy a TDI new, I know its appealing, but they are fairly expensive new.

As I pass them by the boatload on the highway in my TDI :getin:

In the US you would be hard pressed to find a diesel hatchback that matches fuel economy, space, and price of a Prius.

Who the hell keeps letting these people in AI?

Buy the Golf TDI, and laugh at the idiots in the Prius on the highway.

Or for Pete's sake, but a Ford Fiesta and have more fun than the bastards in the Prius.

Wrong loving thread.

Every scumbag "rollin' coal" should be fed feet-first into a slow-turning meat grinder and the videos posted to Youtube under the title "don't be a loving douchebag".

Now this I can 100% agree with. Rolling coal is the sign of douchebags who don't understand how sooty unburned diesel will slowly (or quickly) destroy their engine, damage their turbocharger, and all around RUIN their truck.

That isn't to mention how blowing soot like that is just basically throwing unutilized power out the windows. Its unburned fuel, it means you need more air! Half of the people rolling coal are running excessively large fuel injectors without the proper turbocharger upgrade. Your engine should burn clean and clear, then you are completely burning AND utilizing all the fuel AND keeping the motor healthy

Rolling coal is loving stupid. As a diesel mechanic, I want to beat people I see rolling coal with a connecting rod and piston.

The ride man! The ride is garbage!

As far as the target audience, and this is just an observation/personal anecdote if you will. Every Prius I ever work on, (and living in Madison, thats a lot I promise you), are dirty as poo poo inside and always ALWAYS smell terrible.

In my experience, these guys see those diesel dragsters with like an 18" turbo inlet diameter that smoke a lot during the minute-long turbo spool, and their mind goes smoke=power!, without having any knowledge of AFR or such things. At most you may want to run a bit rich on a 1000HP monster, just for the extra cooling to keep EGTs down, but that's way beyond a lot of these chucklefucks' understanding.

Environmental impact

Improper disposal of NiMH batteries poses less environmental hazard than that of NiCd because of the absence of toxic cadmium. However, mining and processing the various alternate metals that form the negative electrode may pose other types of environmental impact, depending on the metal, mining method, and environmental practices of the mine.

Most industrial nickel is recycled, due to the relatively easy retrieval of the magnetic element from scrap using electromagnets, and due to its high value.

The style 5 offset on a 3 series means you have to run some pretty thin tires, but they are pretty much one of the classic wheels. There are 3 series offsets available (RC040s) but good luck finding them.

I had someone do this to me a few months ago and I straight lost my poo poo. Steering wheel club in hand ready to loving murder but I got blocked in by traffic and couldn't catch up to the rear end in a top hat. Doing that to someone is as offensive as spitting on them. I haven't had road rage like that since my early 20's.
