People Get Ready have the same name as a famous song, which makes them somewhat annoying to search for, but I'll forgive them for that. Lots of percussioning. Shame there was a small turnout, but I guess that's partly because they only announced the concert a week ago.

The new Caveman self titled album came out this week and is now on Spotify. For those not familiar with them, they have a very dreamy, mellow psych sound with Brian Wilson harmonies thrown in. Their show at Crossing Brooklyn Ferry last May is still one of my favorites of all time so definitely go see them if you have the opportunity.

I am constantly surprised by how few people are familiar with Vic Chesnutt, who died at the end of 2009 at 45. I find that some artists can go from lo-fi folk to a more full and lush folk-rock successfully (for my money, Jason Molina in his Songs:Ohia to Magnolia Electric Co. is the best example of that) but I don't really dig his new sound s much.

Heck, I would rather listen to the unofficial 'Unknown Early Session' than material from 'In the Reins' until now

I think it's just a very different sound, because I don't really like any of his pre-Shepherd's Dog stuff except for a few bits of Woman King. I think Shepherd's Dog is his strongest album because of its diversity of styles and the much-needed addition of a rhythm section.

Kiss Each Other Clean is my favorite from him, but I haven't listened to the new stream yet. I forget which album was the first one, but whichever it is I find it incredibly loving boring. The lo-fi does it no favors either, but then I don't like lo-fi 9 times out of 10. EDIT: Also, I saw him with a full like 12 piece band in 2011 and it was amazing hearing not only the stuff from KEOC but older songs reworked for a full band setting. There's a new Small Sur album coming out in June (I believe). I've liked all of their previous work and am probably going to enjoy this new album. Check out So Sudden; it's their debut album. It flies under the radar but I think it's more substantial than Like Vines or Goodbye Blues. There is some amazing songwriting on there, especially considering they were 14-18 at the time.

If you cut Fly Trapped In A Jar, Education, Steam Engenius, and Little Motel, and then put King Rat in their place, you get a much tighter and more listenable album. Modest Mouse always have too many songs on their albums.

My friend and I were stumbling home drunk after the Ghostface Killah show in Seattle last week and he wanted to show me this tiny bar called Electric Tea Garden. We had no idea who they were at the time but Religious Girls were playing that night. I was incredibly impressed by their energy live. Outside of Dashboard I think it's the first half of the album that's worn out it's welcome the most for me. I generally like the Shins but James Mercer has the kind of voice that I need to be in the mood for so all of his guest vocals on that half put me off.
