Also a good time to highlight Collection Intervention which started tonight, which appears to be Hoarders for Geeks. Host goes in to look at an out of control collection and helps the owner deal with it.

It's the type of take on mainstream reality shows that I think Syfy does well. Hollywood Treasure being the other one. Have yet to watch the premiere though to see if it lives up to Hollywood Treasure.

Encouraged? Anything that Marti Noxon has been showrunner on has been total poo poo.

Wasn't Noxon the one responsible for the Magic = Heroin storyline on Buffy? If so, I'll pass.

Trailer for Primeval: New World

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rysDwvWfUu4

This has yet to be confirmed for Syfy, but it seems the type of show they would get since they aired the original back in the day. Might head to BBC America though, since they aired the later seasons of the original.

This series is a spin off of the original show, just set in North America. Connor looks to make a cameo appearance to kick things off. Zane from Eureka will be the main male lead. (I swear I also saw Colin Ferguson in a split second shot in the trailer, but I could be wrong)

If so, we're both wrong because I saw him too.

Interesting list of directors from Eureka, Stargate, Sanctuary, Andromeda. Also Amanda Tapping, had no idea she was directing anything.

The writers are from Enterprise.

It'll probably be poo poo but I'll watch it anyway. The original had it's ups and downs and I still enjoyed it. Premier will be Monday, Oct 29th at 10pm; I assume on SyFy.

She was also responsible for the whole Parker storyline. Basically any time something was terrible on Buffy Noxon was behind it. She is a horrible human being.

Syfy picked up another foreign game show:

Opposite Worlds: Opposite Worlds will consist of 12 episodes over six weeks, marking the first time Syfy has ever aired an original series twice a week. In Opposite Worlds, twenty people from all walks of life are mixed together in two opposing teams that live in two distinctly different worlds – the Past and the Future. The Future is a Utopia where every wish can be granted with a push of a button; the Past is a constant struggle for survival. Each week, players compete in a series of challenges to determine who lives in the Past and who lives in the Future.

The important thing to note about that list is those are just shows "in development" and most are probably never going to happen, especially "Darkfall" which is just way too close to Revolution even though it incorporates magic.

Also, Eyes of the Dragon was an extremely light and shallow book and I just don't see them creating a full series out of it. Another thing is that "Rewind" show is a very clear rip off of "Seven Days" which had exactly the same premise of super secret government project that would send a guy back in time to stop events after they already happened.

The one I can see happening is Booster Gold and that's mostly because of Arrow's success on the CW.

Alphas is the only SyFy show I somewhat enjoy watching but it seems like they've cut back on Garyisms in season 2 or maybe I'm just getting used to them.

Defiance is a go. Rewind is a go. The Adjustment Bureau looks likely. A pilot was ordered for High Moon. Not sure about the reality shows or any others.

I really don't like the cheesy stories and terrible special effects of most SyFy series, but the Defiance promos on TV have captured my eye. Anyone know anything about it and/or feel like it has potential?

Chairman Capone
Dec 17, 2008

I'm definitely interested in it. I don't really know much about it other than the fact that it's a post-apocalyptic space western, and Julie Benz doesn't fill me with confidence, but what I've seen makes me willing to invest at least a few episodes into it. Plus I'm a sucker for Rockne S. O'Bannon.

No one really knows much, except there will be extensive tie ins with the MMO. Syfy's treatment of their shows has been all over the map of recent, and this looks to be the most "high" concept show of theirs in a long while. Most of the current stuff is present day shows with an added layer of weirdness (Being Human, Eureka, Warehouse 13, Alphas, etc.). So this is them taking a risk, and hopefully it's good and pays off.
