No class stat progression adjustments? Some of them kind of get the short end of the stick when it comes to offensive stats.

Walking around not really doing much outside of kicking a few stray wolves? Just the nice, relaxed orchestral background. I played the original DD up to around the halfway point and quit because I thought it was too easy. Could I just pick up Dark Arisen and continue my save? And why does the OP mention that the hard mode isn't very good? Is it just poorly balanced or what?

So the changelog seems to talk about the new fast traveling stuff that was supposedly only a bonus for owners of the original or something? So they changed their minds or did I misread it? I have a save file now so it doesn't matter all that much but still.

Hakkesshu posted:I played the original DD up to around the halfway point and quit because I thought it was too easy. Could I just pick up Dark Arisen and continue my save? All Hard mode literally does is make the enemies hit the Arisen harder. Okay, a LOT harder in some cases. I mean when my Assassin arisen was around 130-ish-mind you, I was mixing and matching gear for it's looks, so it was 'moderate to high' rather than best in slot-the drake near the Shadow Fort managed to hit him for about 70% of his health, and that was in the base game(however, he did spend much of his time as an Assassin, and so has pretty crap defense). Lowbies will be one and two shot. The problem is...this is ALL it does. I don't think it even hits your pawns harder. It doesn't give the enemies more HP(though they give more XP and gold), so it's just sorta...dull overall. (And once you're close to the 3 digit mark it's not that bad anymore anyway.) It's essentially a sorta lazy way to bump up the difficulty. While you see it come out in a fight here and there(the Archydra's charge can actually wipe a high-level Arisen out), it's not particularly balanced. I'd have preferred to see the stuff hit lighter than it does in the Hard mode now, though harder than normal, yes, offer more gold and XP, maybe give the enemies a HP boost(but don't do the other lazy way and turn them into HP bags, that's just as lame), but give them actual better tactics/make them more aggressive/stuff like that. Probably would have worked out a lot better for it.

Oh nice they added the new enemies to the original world. That's great. Hope they do the same with the spawns in the postgame, because aside from the road connecting Cassardis to Gran Soren most of the enemies were the exact same. Tons of regular rear end goblins still all over the place.

So they changed their minds or did I misread it? I have a save file now so it doesn't matter all that much but still. The change they did was add more default port crystals to the world. In base Dragon's Dogma you only had one at Gran Soren (the central city basically), and a removable one that you got at the end of a mid-game quest. You can place this removable one anywhere in the world and warp to it. Now they've added a default portcrystal to Cassardis, presumably so you can actually warp back to the mainland from the DLC, but also hopefully doubles for the main game because honestly the Gran Soren -> Cassardis walk is the one you do the most and the biggest time waster (about a ~5 minute run). Looks like they also added 4 more portcrystals to a number of other places that I presume you can just pick up and relocate anywhere you want. So yeah, that should functionally cover all of your fast travel needs. Honestly the 4 removable ones they added could just be static and that would be enough. Just remember you'll have to buy ferrystones without an import, but at 5k that's a paltry sum. You are drowning in gold by the end of the game. Wooph posted:No class stat progression adjustments? Magick archer is basically the only class with weird stats (shitloads of magic def and not much magic attack) but it doesn't make a huge difference it's just a min/max thing.

Is there any word on compatibility between pawns in the original game and Dark Arisen? I have a friend who's playing my copy of the original game and I would love to give his pawn my goodies, but they'll be adjusted to Dark Arisen. Is that stuff just not going to be available to him/auto unequipped? Anyone have any idea on that?

It is odd though, Gamestop/Game in Sweden sell the original game used for ~$61 while DA will cost ~$46. Is it sad that $46 is really, really, cheap for a console game here in Sweden? Especially a new one. (If you want to consider DA a brand new game)

I wish I had known Dark Arisen was going to be a seperate game instead of a DLC when I bought Dragon's Dogma. But holy poo poo was this game worth it anyhow. It got a little weird right at the end, but I had a hell of a good time with it and the Dragon fight was fun as hell.

Something interesting happened tonight. I came across a pawn-160 something, awesome looking dude too(looked like some big elf Warrior guy.) Odd thing with him though was the fact he had a hairstyle I haven't seen before. Now I had bought the hair DLC, and I know there are some new hairstyles coming with the expansion, but I'm wondering if there was some DLC I missed? The hairstyle looked cool-it was long-REAL long actually, and tied back in a real loose tail with a little bit of hair down in the front. I had went to the barber right after I found(and favorited) the guy to see if I had missed it, but it was nowhere on the list. Hmm...Only thing I can think of is pre-release/review copy perhaps.

How do the bonuses for having the other game work for DA, exactly? Do you import your old save completely and start your old character in the new game or can I get my goodies while starting a brand new character?

New enemy showcase with lame Capcom Unity guy. Features something kind of new and crazy that you might want to wait to see for yourself in the game. Some Capcom UK guy showing off a little bit of gameplay from the new area and gaving a broad overview of it. Shows the same spoiler as the above video so if you care, you know, don't watch this one either.

So for those of us who never played the original, will it be obvious where the the original game stops and the expansion starts? Is there a level or storyline progression requirement or can you just start doing the content at character creation? edit: also, I keep hearing about free travel or something for returning players. Does that mean that only people who bought the original game will get this benefit, or does everybody get it but the developers are just making sure to tell the old players so they know to expect it because they know old players are just used to the mechanic not being free? They're not particularly rare or expensive items, it's not really a big deal.

Judging from the gear in the videos, it looks like the intended level range is probably just before starting post-game but it's kind of hard to say. I haven't read any intended level ranges but maybe they did post one.
