If you guys continue to regurgitate links, photos, ideas, posts from other sites and discuss them legitimately while then later demonizing those sites for being horrible for containing such content, I'm just going to keep pointing out how incredibly hypocritical you are for it. If some other site posts something horrifically offensive and you repost it here and it gets pages of comments, don't end it with "yeahhhh THAT OTHER site sucks!". If you're contributing to the problem, at least acknowledge it. (USER WAS PUT ON PROBATION FOR THIS POST)

There is no minimizing harm. You can't stop the people truly dedicated top doing it. No zealot was ever dissuaded by a background check or limit. There's a case to be made for actual criminals being thwarted, but there is no way to stop guys like this. Look at the weapons already used: guns, box cutters, gas(in Tokyo), our own planes, flammable liquid in your pants, pressure cookers, fertilizer, etc. In a modern age where everything is mostly powered off some sort of combustion or high energy, you're never going to be able to legislate it away.

If you think civil rights are hosed in Russia, just look at Chechnya or any other of Russia's federated states.

It is almost like they are caricatures or something. My sister's husband is Italian and he found the North End of Boston to be somewhat hilarious. He is from Milan though so take it with a grain of salt as the North and South are really different. I made an A/T thread about this once, it was titled something like "non-Americans, what do you think of your American counterparts?" The general concensus was that anyone from not America did not feel that Americans claiming to be whatever were like. As a white, Spanish sort of speaking person with an Arabic name, I don't blame them.

I did kind of hope that somewhere in one of these gun battles would be Willem Dafeo screaming "There was a firefight!" and just firing a pistol straight up in the air. And it was funny until the report about cops getting injured started coming in.

People can just be all ##GCD and then bam, five pages of randomized posters. Set a flag in your profile to say if you want to argue pro-gun, pro-control, or leave it up to chance. Be punished for your automatically generated post content! Things like this are a bit further on the scale than gun control, though, because of the state of mind involved and the chosen materials. Arguments can be cogently made for both sides to a certain degree on the gun debate, but crafting legislation in response to terrorist attacks has been almost universally bad since 9/11. You essentially have all of these laws and restrictions placed arbitrarily because of the last set of resources terrorists used to attack us. You end up not being able to carry shampoo and strip-searching grandpa and kids in a wheelchair to try and filter it out, and then they just change their tactics and do something like this. Now billions have been spent on what many people would consider overreaching laws in the name of protection, just to have bad things happen again. I'm sorry if it got a little to far into gun control territory because it does overlap. It's not my intention to have that argument here, though.

I'm Italian but I don't like to tell other Italians that I am, because then they won't shut up about it. They wear kappa and like soccer and poo poo and the only Italian words they know are food related. They identify with a culture which isn't particularly Italian or particularly Canadian either. Hell, very few have even been to Italy and if they were to actually travel there, they wouldn't find much of anything relevant to them at all. It's pretty obnoxious actually when people find it so important embrace their ethnicity when it's for the most part irrelevant to their lives and even totally wrong.

Between a placebo and the existential dread of life, most everyone will op for the sugar pill and find someone to paint a blame target on.
