I dunno anything about two stages, but Death to All was really great. I didn't keep track of whether they played every track from Human but it was definitely most of them with about as many other tracks from previous albums.

Zu does some pretty sweet Jazz-Metal. It's just Bari sax, electric bass, drums and a shitload of electronics and filters. And sometimes Mike Patton on vocals.

Thanks for the cool recs guys. Digging Zu, Panzerballet, and Painkiller the the most. Zu reminds me of a pumped up metal-Morphine a lot (same instrumentation :haw:) which owns. Morphine are one of my favorite bands, so Zu should should be more of the same, but different. RIP Sandman

Listening through Painkiller, the sax screeches and wails seemed very familiar, and as it turns out, Painkiller is a John Zorn band, which explains a lot. John Zorn :swoon:

That really was cool, though a part of me was disappointed at how much applause the post-Human album covers got versus Scream Bloody Gore, Leprosy, and Spiritual Healing. Also I'm old and between that and Cosmic Sea my muscles all tightened up and I had to get loose again for the pit during the last songs.

I'm glad you were not looking at me, because I was going to lose my poo poo in a crying and emotional mess kind of way.

It's not that I knew Chuck or anything, but growing up in Tampa it like growing up in this Death-shadow where everyone knew Chuck and poo poo, so I kind of feel like I know him or something.

I got really burned out on Tool by seeing them twice. The first time I saw them they were doing "an evening with Tool" or whatever and it was smaller venues. Now Tool aren't really an intimate band so seeing them in a small venue didn't do alot. It didn't help that my favorite album of theirs has always been Undertow (which they played nothing off of) and my least favorite is 10,000 Days (which they played a ton off of). I also only think Lateralus if okay. Then later I saw them at a big venue and while the light show was way better they played the exact same loving set list. The only difference was they added a really long song off of 10,000 Days. Since then I don't' really listen to Tool anymore.

Yeah. It was cool. Ulcer and Masticator were great. Didn't dig Hibernus Mortis that much (suuuper toned down EVERYTHING).

For $15 it was a good night.

I also went to the Akron Deathfest last night and that was one of the best shows I've been to in a long time. Forged in Gore, Embalmer, Inoculation, Thou Shalt Not, Blood Coven, and Limbsplitter loving killed it.

Speaking of Embalmer, this was like the third time I've seen them in a couple months and each time they just get better and better. They are also going to be recording a new album soon, and the tracks they play from it are really drat good. Case in point:

That looks like a hell of a festival. Morbid Saint were sharp and vicious at MDF. Lots of other good bands, but the hidden gem there is Shok Paris. If they still sound anything like they did in the 80s, they'll be amazing. Their "Z Rock - Live in Dallas 1989" album is one of the best live albums I've heard, probably second only to Unleashed in the East, and the only downfall is that they didn't play "Go for the Throat". I really want to see them but they don't seem to play outside the midwest.

Never heard of Shok Paris before, so as I have some idle time I went to Youtube to check them out. I'd say "hidden gem" is a pretty accurate descriptor, this is some drat good stuff. Especially love the vocalist, that dude has got some serious pipes. Or used to anyways, I'm watching their old 80s stuff.

Another note about that lineup, OZ are pretty cool. They were one of the very first actual heavy metal bands in Finland and made some pretty solid stuff. They made a comeback a couple years back and I saw them live last summer. They put on a pretty decent show.

I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth; fucked both a chick and her mom

I will get anal. Oh yes.
Started listening to a ton of new poo poo this week.

1:Asphyx--Deathhammer. This has been out for a while now,but I just stumbled upon them. Frankly, I hate the vocals of alot of death metal when they veer into cookie monster territory. I can't help but laugh when it's cookie monster growling about satan raping me while some dude in the background has a seizure on the drum kit. I love the style here, it's straight up, meat and potatoes death metal in the vein of the early 90s. I respect the guitar prowess involved in technical and prog death, but I'm just not a huge fan. I'll take simple aggression over guitar wankery any day. The vocals are great, guttural but still intelligible.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IXhyzGc7_pc

2: Jungle Rot--Terror Regime. Another straight forward death metal band, with more of a groove to them though ala Bolt Thrower. My only beef here is that for some reason the drums seem way too loud in the mix. Might just be my head phones though.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxPUqMVpSWs

3: Enabler--All Hail the Void. A mix of a variety of metal genres including thrash, hardcore, grindcore, and death. Comparable to Midnight and Black Breath.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VQZrCvc7VhI

4: Lazarus AD--Black Rivers Flow. Another neo-thrash fusion style band. Pretty solid.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmGdMp-hD18

5:Ihsahn. I've never listened to Ihsahn before, and I'm kind of at a lost for words on how to explain what they sound like. So I'm going to use all smilies instead.

:black101::bravo2: :sax: :lsd:
