Just watched this movie on the recommendation of a friend. It's called The Wolf Children Ame & Yuki. It's a story of a woman who fell in love with a man who turned out to be a werewolf, and gave birth to two children who have the ability to become man, wolf, or a hybrid of the two, and the struggles of the mother as she tries to raise them. It's very Studio Ghibli-esque, and is very much about life's hardships, adjusting to being different, and struggling with who you are and who you want to be. It's a wonderful, adorable movie. I went into it blind with my mom since she'll be away for Mother's Day, and she absolutely loved it and teared up a bit, said it reminded her a lot of raising me and my sister. I suppose this is the appropriate thread for this; was perusing Youtube and came across the full, un-cut version of "The Gift" a movie by Perry Ferrell of Jane's Addiction that was released, I think, around '94. Part fiction, part biography - it's an interesting film if you're a fan of Jane's Addiction. There are some pretty good musical performances by the band interspersed with the main "story", which was really just an ode to the highs and lows of Perry's (and girlfriend-at-the-time, Casey) addiction to drugs, particularly heroin. Not a bad attempt by Ferrell at directing, though it can be scatter-shot at times. Basically, some of the more amateurish scenes can be forgiven since they often give way to pretty good camera work, dialogue, and music. Part "Gummo", Part "Cops", Part "Jerry Springer", I'd really recommend it if you were into the LA music scene around the early to mid 90's. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=na9G5HxBJ40

Giant Bomb's patrick Klepek and Drew Scanlon were invited to Iceland to attend EVE Online's Fanfest. Here's a 20 minute video of the trip, Iceland itself, Fanfest, interview snippets, shots of the EVE Online symphony playing live, and other stuff. EVE Online is apparently one of the biggest things in all of Iceland, they've got tons of actual sciency dudes at the convention as well talking about real asteroid mining, space elevators, etc. Interesting! Lots of goony-as-gently caress guys showing up as well, of course. But all in all, an interesting video. Drew said there's over 18 hours of footage, so hopefully there'll be more of this sort of video going up.
