Here's the first episode in a new short (5-9min) gaming news podcast I'm making for a site called Gamer Escape. I'd love some feedback. I'm a radio professional so I dont work with video often, so that part of it was a stretch and will most likely take some getting used to.

Episode 26 is up and I finally loving upgraded to a mixer board with real rear end mics. My full rig out hadn't arrived at the time of this episode but it still sounds way better than any of our previous episodes I like to think, and I expect our upcoming episodes will only get better and better.

Errand of Mercy Episode 43: Grown rear end men Talking About Cartoon Ponies

This week's show starts with me seeing two dudes loving in Chinatown and Simon seeing some women having a picnic in the carpark of Warhammer World and goes downhill from there fast. I mean look at the title of this weeks show. We ended up talking about bronies. I mean honestly.

In between we also talked a lot about video games, how we both enjoyed Iron Man 3, and how the Rolling Stones are gradually mummifying themselves on stage as part of the greatest avant garde music act in history.

Also we have just set up a twitter account for the show which I probably should have done ages ago but now that we're coming up to a full year of Errand of Mercy it seemed like it was definitely the right time.

Episode 12: Does This Hold Up? #1 - Mortal Kombat

We're hoping to make this into a recurring subtopic, so any feedback on this episode would be great. The idea is that we go back and re-examine something from our childhood/early teens that neither of us have really seen/played/read/whatever in the past decade. We started with the most 90's thing we could think of, which was the whole Mortal Kombat phenomenon, so this episode covers the original trilogy of games, the two movies and, for a brief bit, the cartoon.

Episode 13: Iron Man(ia)!

We review Iron Man 3, and took the opportunity to do an examination of the whole trilogy. This episode also have a lead-in for the next episode (hopefully coming out by Friday), covering the other Marvel movies, up to and including The Avengers.

Goon: Me, Rotten Cookies

What we're going for is a recording of a crappy local radio station. Awkward commercials, little songs, bits of news, all from our fictional little world that this radio station takes place in.

Basically my two friends and I made this little thing, thinking it's a good way to be creative. Our friends have told us good stuff about it, but I don't know how far that goes aside from "we're your friends so we have to say we like it." So if it's okay, I'd like to see what some goons think of it? I don't want to use the "it's supposed to be bad!" excuse, but I hope you can tell that, for example, the ads are quintessential bad cue card readings and such. That said, I'm not going to pretend that it's perfect comedy gold. I'd like to know if this has potential, if it's a steaming pile, or if there's anything about it that bothers you.

As far as self-criticism, this first episode has more music than I'd like future episodes to have. I feel the advertisements and talk segments are our strong suit, and the music does little to hold the attention of the listener. I don't feel the music on there now, at least, is engaging.

Again, my friends and I sort of just jumped right into this. I'd like to know how it measures up, though. I appreciate any time you take to listen.

We've been putting a lot of love and hard work into our podcast, and at first glance it comes of as "another one of those gaming podcasts". what I've gathered from the superfluos amount out there, is that most of them are unlistenable due to poor audio quality, a poor cast of personalities , and generally unentertaining content. We've got a cast of great outgoing and talented people, who are all in their 20s-30s that have a lot to offer, including a lot of off the cuff comedy and professional levels of mixing and graphic nuance. We have giveaways and are going to be attending NYCC this year. Sure it's about games, but really, we just want to have some fun, and make you enjoy the time you listen in. Errand of Mercy Episode 45: More Goblin

In the first episode after our birthday party things got a little bit odd, highlights this week:
  • In an alternate universe where Simon is dead I am presenting Errand of Maths.
  • We prescribe Goblins to ease a difficult pregnancy.
  • Simon is naming his first daughter after Gambit from X-Men.
  • Geraint can only talk about sex if he is dressed as Tim Westwood.
  • An 80's Italian car is climbing up the UK top 40 with a song about the emptiness of modern romance.

Plus, as ever, a lot more.

Horror 101 Podcast – Episode 21: The House by the Cemetery...

This show we are featuring an early 80s Italian gorefest called House by the Cemetery (1981) from director Lucio Fulci. When a family from New York moves into a quiet country house in Boston they begin to suspect there’s something not quite right about the property. Dr. Boyle has moved his family here for 6 months to continue the research of his predecessor who went mad and killed himself. Something in Oak Mansion is stirring. What lurks beneath the floorboards? And will the family be able to get out alive? The World Famous Brian Stewart has never seen a Fulci movie so it was about time to focus on the Italian Meistro of gore. House by the Cemetery is one of three films in the Fulci Death Trilogy (The City of the Living Dead and The Beyond being the other two). All of them were unrelated stories but they were most certainly bleak, violent and nasty horror flicks which all starred British actress Catriona MacColl. Come with us as we descend into the ultimate cellar of The House by the Cemetery. Listen to the horrible dubbing of Giovanni Frezza. Listen to the gurgling of blood pouring from mutilated bodies. It’s another podcast with soundtrack music accompaniment and audio clips of the scenes we discuss.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS:
01:50 It’s finally time to focus on Lucio Fulci…
04:00 Cash and Nefarious Paul B. reminisce on the film…
06:15 Beware!! The culture shock…(can we say bad dubbing???)
07:53 Synopsis…
09:15 Opening with a scare…
11:17 Anne, the babysitter (freaky bitch)
12:43 Sucks to be the real estate agent…
15:20 The incredible disappearing gore!
16:50 Here comes Cult Sensation Nick MacPherson!!
18:00 The finale…the lair of Freudstein!
22:40 Scoring the film out of 10…
23:50 Conclusion…thanks for listening.

Remember! You can grab House by the Cemetery on Blu-Ray from Blue Underground.

Episode 20: Zack Snyder's Superhero Suckfests

We saw the latest Superman movie, Man of Steel, and were not happy. We tackle the problems with that movie, with Zack Snyder's previous superhero disaster Watchmen, and really all of Zack Snyder's body of work. There's also some buildup from a previous episode...

Episode 18: Superman(ia)!

In the buildup to Man of Steel, we took on all 4 Christopher Reeve films, plus Superman Returns. Going into this, I thought I'd like the sequels, or at least Superman II, more than i did, and I know Superbuddy ended up feeling the same way.

In between these episodes was a brief discussion of E3 and all of the PS4 and Xbone news, but since all of that is now mostly outdated, it's probably not going to get much more attention. Oh well.

Horror 101 - Episode 22: Deranged - Confessions of a Necrophile

Most people are familiar with Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and how it was inspired by true events. But what many don’t know is, that during that same year in 1974 another picture was released called Deranged which chronicled the life of Ed Gein (through the alternate name Ezra Cobb). Gein was a very real ghoul who dug up over 500 graves and killed at least 2 people. He was the inspiration for Norman Bates, Leatherface and Buffalo Bill. His story is so bizarre and nightmarish that it’s almost impossible to comprehend. Deranged is a very authentic look at that insanity. It was shot in Canada, starring Roberts Blossom. Directed by Alan Ormsby with effects by a very young Tom Savini. The only thing scarier than fiction is the truth. Come with us as we delve into one of the most bent, twisted minds in recent history. We’ll review the film with audio clips and share outrageous stories about how we found the film back in the 90s and how Deranged saved the day when Cash Wampum inadvertently pissed off his idol. Don’t miss this show! Join the Horror 101 team as they present for you Deranged: Confessions of a Necrophile.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS:
01:00 Welcome to the story of real monsters (a different kind of horror film)
02:55 His name was Ed Gein….

Horror 101 - Episode 23: Henry - Portrait of a Serial Killer

He's not Freddy. He's not Jason. He's real...

In the same vein as our last show, we delve deep into the mind of another twisted real life killer. In 1986, with a meager $100,000 to play with John McNaughton made his first feature film a true story horror movie about a pair of notorious killers that plagued the United States in the 70s and 80s. Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer is a low key, savage snapshot of the lives of two dangerous men. Walking Dead fans should not let this movie pass. It's Michael Rooker's first performance and you will never look at him the same way again. Mr. Rooker, along with Tom Towles deliver strong, vicious performances that will leave you cold. Join us as we discuss this hidden gem that almost never saw the light of day. Henry was so ahead of it's time that it helped influence the MPAA to create an NC-17 rating, finally rescuing artistic adult films from the dreaded X rating. It's a bleak and well crafted road of violence and mayhem.

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS:

01:00 Buckle up!! We're going down that road again...

02:10 The real Henry Lee Lucas (and Ottis Tool)

04:50 The Genesis of Henry...

07:09 An opening of death...

08:53 "Yeah.....I killed my mama."

10:30 Teaching the fine art of murder...

12:30 The family holocaust

15:25 "Adios mother fucker!" (bravo to Tom Towles)

17:35 Poor Becky...

19:56 There is ZERO glamour...(the curse of playing crazies well)

21:55 Helping to conjure NC-17 films...(final thoughts)

23:12 Roger Ebert praises Henry...

24:05 Conclusion....facts of the REAL Henry and get ready for Maniac!!

We post twice a week, Tuesdays at http://www.youtube.com/mangler103 and Fridays at http://www.youtube.com/jpthompsLP. 5 episodes are up right now, and we've got lots more coming.

Episode 35 - White Herstory Month

Its been a while since a posted and golly some things have changed, we have one less co host, we get a lil more serious about some real rear end shits and I think I have now finally fixed pretty much every glaring audio issue by upgrading my equipment and using headphones while recording.

Still striving for some listener feed back, but I'm just happy people are still listening!

My podcast, Lifescrapers: Tall Stories of American Lives is now on BreakThru Radio!

http://www.breakthruradio.com/#/programdetail/?blog=120&post=6

Also, I am doing a live show at the UCB East! It's Friday, August 9th at midnight. If you are in the New York City area, it would be cool if you came! Tickets are only five bucks and the Upright Citizens Brigade theater is really the best place in the world to see comedy, honest.

Hey everybody, it's The Fireside Chat.

iTunes RSS Facebook Website

Formerly a drive time comedy radio show! Now in podcast format we pick a theme for the week (like "Decadence") and stick loosely to the theme, tackling the issues of the week as well as weird observational humour. Some topical Aussie stuff but mostly general, international-friendly material. We get a fair few American listeners, interestingly enough.

Any and all feedback appreciated. If you're kind enough to try out some new comedy, I'd recommend number 2 as a good starting point. Here's the runsheet:

Denial - Podcast money - Racism - Self presents - Wiping my arse - Conspiracy theories - Bin diving - Shoplifting - Hospitality faux pas - Celebrity baby names - News websites - Braille

Thanks!

Genre: Political commentary/opinion
Released: Usually bi-weekly on average, sometimes weekly and sometimes once a month
Goon: VH4Ever
Description: Basically The Edge Of Chaos is a podcast with me and my hardcore Randian libertarian Ron Paul supporting friend from high school (I am a former libertarian and current Progressive liberal) debating various current events, political and economic theory, or anything else that's interesting in the political sphere. In this episode we discuss "The Man Behind the Curtain" and the various signs of political realignment that are all around us, and whether this indicates a failure of long-used political tricks and techniques in the face of increasing use of social media and the availability of basic information on the Internet. Examples include the Detroit bankruptcy, Gasland 2 and hydraulic fracking in Texas, the upcoming debt ceiling debate and the Congressional vote on NSA surveillance funding. Later on Toxin and Joe close the show with a spirited debate about public infrastructure projects of the past and whether the Federal government should have a role in such projects going forward as Obama suggests.

“I Warned You Not To Go Out Tonight!”

On this show we review William Lustig‘s Maniac and it’s remake made last year, starring Elijah Wood. Maniac (1980) was a controversial slasher which had feminists picketing it for it’s misogynist cruelty and gore. Gene Siskel walked out on the film after only half an hour. It became one of the notorious video nasties. Beneath that sensation lies a clever story of a traumatized boy growing up into a lethal, murderous man. Joe Spinell plays Frank Zito, the killer in the film. His performance is disturbing. The original Maniac was made for well under $100,000 yet it had Caroline Munro starring in it and some of Tom Savini‘s juiciest gore effects ever filmed. We’ll discuss both films. Their high and low points. The comparisons and the contrasts. There’s a twist to this podcast. It’s the first time we view a film that Cash hasn’t seen yet. The educator will become the pupil on this 24th podcast. It’s another solidly packed 45 minute show filled with soundtrack music and audio clips of the scenes we discuss. Join us for Maniac: Then and Now!

SHOW HIGHLIGHTS:
1:58 The educator is finally being schooled…
3:00 The movie the L.A. Times wouldn’t run adds for…
4:35 Joe Spinell’s performance is as authentic as you can get…
8:12 The phone that wouldn’t die!
9:35 We start with a pair of binoculars….
13:00 The greatest headshot in horror history…
17:43 Caroline Munro charmed? We don’t buy it
20:00 The holocaust!!
23:25 Scoring the 1980 film…
26:30 How is a remake possibly going to do this kind of film any justice?
28:00 “THAT…is how a remake should be done!”
30:35 POV is done masterfully…
31:10 Subway nod and the attack that made us all wince…
32:36 My name’s Anna…(a much better relationship).
34:18 All the nods to the original…a very nice touch.
36:00 Why the mannequins?
37:54 “I’m going to tear you to pieces, Frank…”
39:07 Finally…a remake worthy of fans…

Episode 38 - Can We Just?

This week we talk about erections, psychic vampire assholes and then we get real about why girls are just so dang mean to each other.

I've been going thru an unrelated personal funk lately and its been really affecting my ability to get the show edited and posted on time, let alone go around to sites like these to update people on it. Do any of you guys have like a solid process to keep all that stuff going and up to date/ on time? I'm trying to make sure I don't let the show suffer cause of my own personal poo poo.

Errand of Mercy Episode 54

As ever the show starts with news about Justin Beiber because he can always be relied on to provide 5-10 minutes worth of material. Simon went to a pub to play internet card games against a man named Satan (no really), we talk about that racist song everyone is talking about and the confusing new single from placebo, and we play an anime convention themed game of Creep or Creation with somewhat predictable results.

And like I always enjoy posting, a clip:

This one has a bit of build up but results in me getting really angry.

In this episode we discuss "The World On Fire" as we analyze the current chaotic events in Egypt as the military establishment turns its guns and tanks on its own citizens. We then branch off into a discussion about other troubled places in the world like Baharain and Saudi Arabia, and later also address the current state of the economy in America after the stock market saw significant drops for two straight weeks and analyze recent economic trends and try to predict where we go from here with a debt fight looming in Washington.
