I believe it has the most storage space and possibly you can have more servants (not sure about that).

Tuxedo Catfish posted:Is there any benefit to living in a small castle besides bragging rights? According to the wiki, even at maximum rank it makes less money than it costs in taxes. That table really isn't very accurate for Elona+. Rent has been significantly reduced across the board, so I think it comes out roughly on top. Better houses have larger staff maxes, just in case you care about having 7 magic shops available rather than 1.

You also get a lot more space to store your crap - the item cap is much higher. You can also put down deep water, so you can fish in your house - the tilesets available are different for different houses. Also, castle.

Man, medium armor is rather nice because you can wear "Almost" the heaviest class of armor every other slot but your body and waist. (I'm wearing a griffon scale pope robe!) and enjoy having a rather burly PV while maintaining a lot of DV. Also I do regret not knowing how the potential system quite worked for the first 20 levels, now I feel like my character could be better than he is now even... Maybe with a different class base than farmer too. If I stockpile a ton of growth scrolls, potential potions and other things is it wise to make a gene and start over with a bigger head start? Or can I hit whatever peak I want to just with one character anyway given time gold and plat? Also what bonuses do you get besides just inheriting stuff via the heir chests? The wiki mentioned "Bonuses" but never goes into detail. I have a rather solid empire built up and the idea of having to start over and having to Re-ID everything ever to make a profit makes my head spin.

Also for all the diehard monster/pet keepers out there, a command flag if you can find it, somehow wish for it or buy one is a worthy investment, it changes -every- pet within range/visual range (I think?) from offensive to defensive mode and back again, good for if you're out of range to directive command them or they're about to suck down massive or fatal damage. Since in defensive mode they'll scamper back to be closer to you.

Does anyone know of any decent alternate tilesets/spritesets/facesets? To clarify; I'm messing around with debug races, and it would be nice if I could get something other than the generic chibi for, say, a minotaur claymore. I also remember reading about an expanded customisation mod someone posted earlier on this thread, but I'm having trouble finding it.

Any advice for raising CON as a gunner? I've finally gotten the basics of the game mechanics down, but it seems that I'm getting flattened by certain mobs if I get just a few misses in. It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't from mobs that I can 2 shot easily, but it's basically forcing me to only do DL5 and lower dungeons, while I'm level 8.

It's not a mod, just alternate sprites for monsters. If you don't like chibis you won't like this much. If you meant something else entirely, uh, I have no idea. I'm sure there must be some way to change your little person to just a regular monster image. It sounds like it should be simple enough. Maybe in Elosnack. e. Also there was a customisation pack for vanilla Elona that let you use extra costumes for your standard chibi avatar, but it doesn't work with Elona+ because of the res difference.

It's not that I don't like chibis; it's just that it gets kind of awkward when you're playing one of the debug races and you're depicted as a generic anime waifu.

As far as battle goes, Constitution is only relevant to your HP as far as I know. If you're asking how to shore up your defenses/keep mobs from killing you, the numbers you're looking for are the Prot/Evade numbers on your character sheet. Prot is a straight damage reduction (percentage+flat random spread) and is influenced by the PV of all your gear, your dexterity, and your applicable armor skill. Evade is a percentage (not sure what its relationship with an opponent's hit percentage is, but obviously bigger is better) and is influenced by the DV of your gear, your perception, and your Evasion skill. Your total armor DV/PV are the two slashed numbers on the lower right of your screen, and these respective numbers for a given piece of equipment are inside brackets [DV, PV]. To train dexterity just keep killing stuff, to train perception start fishing. If you want to train constitution you can get mining if you want. Really though, the best way to not die is to not miss, so get gear that improves your chance to hit, raise dexterity, and most importantly raise speed so you can outrun mobs. Or alternatively, get a couple of pets to kill everything for you if you're so inclined

I've started the madman's task of making a staff fighting monk warrior. Because one of the elona plus weapon invokes for staves makes them hit some absurd amount of times once you hit a set weapon skill. I will report back how this goes since so far my adamantium long staff courtesy of superior material scrolls is beating everything readily.

Did someone say that shotguns suck? Because my bell prefers it over all other ranged weapons if I give him multiple, but when I made him use a laser he murdered everything much more efficiently. Anyone have advice on other weapons that are best avoided or given preference? e. I just got the <Rankis> Axe from a weird castle dungeon. It sends enemies to hell when I use it, oh and it occasionally stops loving time. e2.vvv Thanks! Corridor fucked around with this message at 06:36 on May 21, 2013 |

Is EloSnack the best way to modify race values? I.e., would it be the best way to shore up the existing slot deficiencies for debug races and to rectify the really crappy values of, say, kobol[d/t]s?

I.e., would it be the best way to shore up the existing slot deficiencies for debug races and to rectify the really crappy values of, say, kobol[d/t]s? Yes, pretty much. I mean, they're debug races so they're not exactly balanced anyway, but Elosnack'll sort you out. If you're modifying a pet, check cdatan.s1 for the index number of the pet. (Pet x Name) Then check cdata.s1 where you'll find Body Part Slot 1 through 30. Take off all your/the pet's equipment, then check this page for the limb numbers. If you edit a limb with an item equipped there's a good chance it'll become invisible on your character. Skill and stat information is in sdata.s1. Remember to change both the Effective and the Base and keep them the same taking into account bonuses, or else your character sheet might look a little odd. Effective is the skill level after equipment, Base is skill level to 3 decimal places followed by the potential. So a level 60.534 skill with 159 potential will be listed as 60534159.

Don't worry about changing effective stats, just take off and replace a piece of equipment when you load and you'll be fine. Pets will update the next time they level something if you don't feel like yanking their weapon away for a moment.

What determines whether a Rod of Domination works or not? I just spent a good hour or two diving dungeons to get enough small medals to buy one, used it on a monster less than half my level with no especially high resists that I know of... and failed all four times. I'm training up my rather low Magic Device skill on the assumption that that was the problem, but I'd like to have confirmation before I waste that kind of effort again. I thought the thing would last me multiple monsters!

Some dude earlier was saying that with a monster heart (lets you dominate stuff above your level) he was successfully using the rod on stuff much higher than him (with high magic device skill). So I think it's just that skill. Also note if you are a big fat cheater like me, you can savescum rod of domination charges. F1 Save, try the rod, if it resists, F2 reload and just kill it.

Honestly, domination charges are so rare and failure prone that you might as well savescum them.

In my previous game (I restarted once I realized just how badly moongate gold breaks things even if your pets pick it up - a gold bell with permanent maxed potential and Traveling soon wipes out anything that doesn't one shot the party) I tried out farming-cooking. It was far too grindy for even my taste but I did notice that magic seeds gave up rods of domination surprisingly regularly- if you have the money/time to invest in a few plots of magic plants you could probably get a few domination rods without any savescumming at all (and if you get impatient you can always savescum when you pick the plants). On that note my current game is going a lot smoother, and I've discovered that even with a relatively low level magic store you can occasionally buy potions of potential. Unfortunately, I've yet to find a reliable source of bottles of water to bless so I can pump my stats across the board. Is there a good place to get water, or do I just have to rely on dungeon diving and luck? Also, what are my options for skill potential raising? Right now I'm relying on my store of level up boosts with the occasional purchase of training via plat coins.

You could take empty bottles to Noyel and find the special well there and fill em up. Don't try to taint the well with your crap, it won't like it, you'll just have to wait for it to recharge. Aside from that advice I just go stomping low level dungeons and I find them here and there.

For blessing usable items like potions and scrolls, you can maximize your blessed-water efficiency by collecting a stack of the item and blessing them all at once. I gathered up about 100 uncursed change material scrolls from shops, then blessed them all with one holy water. I do the same with potions of potential, except I only wait until my stack is about 10.

That update sounds utterly awesome, now there are (sort of ) good throwing weapons now. Also this change.quote:The command flag can now order pets to 'intercept/counter attack'. This command will make your pets intercept enemy attacks at a certain range between you and them (somewhere around Cheer range). And they will not pursue anything else outside that. That is utterly incredible since my stupid great race of yith won't run to his demise now. Economy Clown Car fucked around with this message at 18:20 on May 21, 2013 |

An important note about the new version - previously, when you were above 7/8 hp, you had a good chance of doing a super-attack (it made a large blue circle-spark animation) that did loads of damage. Now, it's deterministic - you charge up to 100% by hitting things and being hit, and when it gets to 100%, you super. More to the point, enemies also charge up super attacks, and they really hurt - you can see their meter under their health bars. They're also very good for killing bells.
