I don't really post in this forum much, but I take it there's some Slough Feg fans in here? If so, a dude just posted the demo track from their new album on Metal Blade. Laser Enforcer Slough Feg is probably my favorite band at the moment, it's amazing how underrated they are.

The Animal Spirits was a bit weak, I'm a Traveller and prior fan mostly, but the new song is great. They have such a varied style, it'll be interesting to see if it's a straight metal album or if it has some prog to it like usual. I'd suspect that if they're on Metal Blade now, the new album is going to be more traditional metal. e- If anyone has never heard them, try out Traveller. It's a concept album based on a late 70's pen and paper RPG of the same name and it loving owns. Traveller is my favorite traditional heavy metal album of all time. Anything Mike Scalzi does will at least be solid.

It might be beneficial for you to listen to their more recent stuff before the show as well--it's all good. From a couple of pages back, but I just want to say I am loving the poo poo out of their new album, Kingdom of Conspiracy - the title track (and opener) alone is almost worth the sticker price. Check it out.

They are featured in metal music sometimes, it's pretty cool, like in Pig Destroyer's The Diplomat MV. Well I guess those are more like apes but still. It's part of the style. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d6dycCqqZS0

I lost interest with them around Nocturnal but the new album has a lot of old school death metal influences, which offsets the hypermelodic solos really nicely!

Waiting to get paid so I can pick that one and the new Alice in Chains up. BTW ANYONE KNOW HOW THE NEW ALICE IN CHAINS IS?

There's like 2 decent songs on it. The rest is extremely boring and DuVall barely gets any lead vocal time. Again.

I can't stop listening to 'Edge of the Earth' by Sylosis. I'm still reeling from how good their vocalist/lead guitarist is. Just phenomenal. As far as songwriting and technicality goes they just hit the nail right on the head for me. Could anyone suggest bands with similar styles to this? Like fast, hard but with the slowed down "epic" guitar sections too? Good guitar solos would be a huge bonus.

Also finally got around to listening to Sons of Aeon which I largely ignored due to the fact there was a lighthouse on the album cover but it's much thrashier / heavier and less doomy than I thought it was going to be https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=edH7P8wVoKM This track actually has a Gojira feel too it edit: what the ... Heard this was good, and was really digging it until 6 minutes in. Starts with the usual epic sort of chanting latin sounding intro thing, goes into the usual blackened blast beat stuff, and then at 6 minutes in the video (3 minutes of the actual song) I don't even know what to say other than what the gently caress I'm never listening to this again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rI7PtKQ__rs Fiendish Dr. Wu fucked around with this message at 17:12 on Jun 9, 2013 |

I skipped out on the Orion fest because, you know, it's not 1989 anymore and figured it would be poo poo, but Metallica played Kill 'Em All from front to back in a surprise set yesterday. I think it's pretty cool, also because they were all around town handing out free wristbands and poo poo.

Well, Kalmah's new album is out there -Seventh Swamphony. From the songs they've officially released, it can go either way. Deadfall was great. The other two had their moments but were largely pretty boring and sounded like a lot of the kind of metal I try to avoid. Maybe this will be good and tasty, last time Kalmah made an album they released their weakest tracks too, and 12 Gauge was really drat good in my eyes. Edit: Okay, this sounds rad as hell. Edit 2: Didn't see it had already been discussed, still is awesome. Riot Bimbo fucked around with this message at 02:43 on Jun 11, 2013 |

Civil War's debut album is out! And it is good poo poo. They have their own sound and it's nice for a change to hear some good basic heavy metal that isn't straight-up retro stuff. Also, Nils Patrik Johansson. God drat that guy's voice. The problem now is that White Wizzard's new album is also out, and I can't listen to both simultaneously.
