Cyril Sneer posted:There's a lot of groups out there putting out stuff like this, and I like it in theory, but - and there are a few exceptions - it just never seems to evolve out of that amateurish feel (the lyric treatment in particular). It makes me sad because this could sound a whole lot better in more professional hands. You mean like Kavinksy? Kavinsky - Pacific Coast Highway Bestrack's an 80s vibe of french touch. While I think the samples are how they're supposed to be I also think the genre as a whole is expanding in the way that you mean. Pablo J & the Lobsterettes in particular are to me the best right now. They/he/she have taken french house to a new high. I dunno maybe we're talking about different things. Either way it is time for Pablo now. Pablo J & the Lobsterettes - Take Your Love Pablo J & the Lobsterettes - Feel The Sun 88h88 posted:You should note that it's a FREE EP via his Facebook page too! But I agree with Cyril some, it rarely evolves out of that initial feel. But I figure that's probably cause in the scheme of the electronic music business it's kind of niche, so its kind of hard to advance with it. You're right though, more Pablo! The first time I heard PJL was Take Your Love on a GoGoBizkitt mix and I was positive it was a new Phantom track. Thing is I thought it was the best thing he had ever done. They do sound very similar but I think Pablo takes the style further. Of course Phantom is a legend forever and to be honest I never thought I would find anyone better. I think Pablo J is just more refined. The Phantom's Revenge stuff is always chopped and sliced all to hell and I love it but sometimes I just want to hear that golden sample in one piece. Yeah, I think I'm the one that corrected you on that? Not sure though. I disagree about taking the style further, they're essentially doing the same thing, except PJL uses more synths and stuff. I think they're both going to compete for some disco avante-garde stuff, but Phantom has better sampling game. Oh, and Ed Rec Vol X is out now. I have the Oizo and Mr Flash tracks five starred so far. Nice to see Cassius putting out something new as well! dj bobby bieber fucked around with this message at 06:10 on Jun 19, 2013 |

I've been listening to Kavinsky's Outrun album a lot recently, and it's become my unofficial Mechwarrior Online soundtrack as of the past week. I found this song while looking for similar music, it's pretty neato. None of this group's other songs sound anything like it, but hot drat I wish I could find more. Futurecop! - The Beast On Saturn

Just wanted to give some feedback after seeing Boys Noize on Thursday night. Firstly, the Mezzanine in San Francisco is an amazing venue. It is a smaller, more intimate place but still has plenty of room for dancing. The crowd was all 21+ which instantly made the vibe 100 times better than an all ages show. The opener was great and really set the mood for a great show, everyone was dancing as soon as they walked in. As soon as Boys Noize got on stage, I knew I was in for a treat. The guy is an extremely talented DJ and I could really hear the skill with which he mixed and transitioned between tracks. His track selection was perfect, mostly his own stuff but he threw in some gems like Latch by Disclosure, which had everyone singing. The lights were really cool and not over the top at all. I think I left the dance floor for a total of 5 minutes for the entire show I was having so much fun and I would highly recommend seeing him if you get the chance. The only bad thing? I had so much fun that I just really want to go to another show as soon as possible.

Duck Sauce, in the role they were born to play: blues-house pioneers. I like it. I like the annoying lead synth, I like the vocal edits, I like the fact that it's a 12-bar blues, and I think it all fits together great.

Blues samples are easier to clear and/or take advantage of due to many being in public domain. Bony m samples are expensive.

I've always assumed the cost of clearing their samples was the reason why they haven't release all their original songs.

Subtech can be defined as progressive house, albeit he always had a club techno/trance, but I guess it's relative: http://youtu.be/tf0c4D-cEio If you're looking for more downtempo stuff, try Golden Boy and Lone - who's incipiently going to tour in Kansas City soon, for those guys who are close enough to want to see him live.
