Call me "pixeltits"

I recently rediscovered the whole Neue Deutsche Härte thing after having kind of forgotten about it for a few years, and apparently it's still loving going. It's this weird industrial metal thing that arose in mid-90s Germany when six East German dudes got together and put together an album fusing metal, hard rock, electronica, and an aggressively German vocal style with lyrics about the darkest, most hosed up poo poo they could think of. That album was Herzeleid and those six guys were Till Lindemann, Richard Z. Kruspe, Flake Lorenz, Christoph Schneider, Paul Landers, and Oli Riedel. Rammstein.

Rammstein and Megaherz/Eisbrecher (listed together because Eisbrecher is what Alexx Wesselsky did when he left Megaherz) are probably the most well-known NDH bands, but there's a lot more. Stahlhammer, Stahlmann, Die Krupps, Unheilig, and so on.

Rammstein - Ich tu dir weh
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=berzo1ocFkQ

Rammstein - Mein Land
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NNNR8UX7oKk

Megaherz - Jagdzeit
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kGXTT7s01pw

Stahlmann - Spring Nicht
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kzxg-btMuo

It's German as gently caress and I don't care because it owns.

Rammstein owns completely because the singer, Till Lindemann, is a licensed pyrotechnician and coordinates most of the pyrotechnic effects in their shows and videos. There are shows where he'll spend entire songs completely on loving fire, because that's just what he does.

Do Farmer Boys count as Neue Deutsche Härte? Because I've always dug the hell out of them. Although I guess they also sorta lean towards the modern-gothic-metal side of things.

If you haven't seen Rammstein live and get the opportunity, loving do it. Even if you're not the biggest fan. I challenge anybody to come out of one of their shows without a big, stupid "That was the coolest poo poo ever" grin on their face (and possibly minor burns).

E: I also say this because their are rumours floating around about Till "retiring" very soon and I doubt the band will continue after that.

I've seen them two months ago. Fancy show sure, but hardly "the coolest poo poo ever". I might have been a bit more impressed if I didn't stand so far from the stage though.

Watain Announce Fall North American Tour With In Solitude & Tribulation

Dates are in for Watain‘s coming North American tour with In Solitude and Tribulation as support. You can check out the schedule below with the groups new album “The Wild Hunt” due out August 20th in North America.

Watain commented on the coming tour:

"Starting the first full tour for The Wild Hunt in North America seems quite appropriate, considering how many severe experiences and the sleepless nights that country has bestowed upon us while riding through its strange wilderness… A thousand years and a thousand deaths have passed since we last visited the States, so prepare yourself to face something very, very old and very very hungry."

"Deformed from both victory and defeat, distorted by a constant influx of powers residing beyond the borders of this world, we now return to join forces with our ever loyal US supporters. With us we will have two acts that have the capacity of transforming the audience into one big open wound before we go on stage, ready then to receive the lethal yet illuminating venom of Watain."

This video belongs up there with Call of the Wintermoon and the Therion steampunk music video. They are so over the top of what the music calls for and (at least in Immortal's case) can detract from a decent song. If I had more of these, I think a thread could be justified of just terrible music videos.
