henpod posted:Another new Fleshgod track. I liked the other one a lot, and this one sounds good too. Looking forward to the album. I love that the commercial that loaded for me was for some christian youtube channel wanting to spread the word of god to every corner of the world in the end times. Followed immediately by these lyrics: "caught in this fort of disgrace for a god's oppression these corridors behold the disease as I am feeding my guts with the flesh of the race of abomination I collect the souls I bury beneath" I'm really liking the new songs though. It's like they toned down the speed just barely enough to add some more composition and flow.

I got to see Baroness in Boston tonight. It was an amazing show and all, but man is the Blue album better than Green and Yellow. Given that half their set was off the Blue album, I think they know it too.

I ended up going and I think that new Fleshgod was on the set in Boston too. Wintersun played a new track rather than the one you mentioned, was still great though. Also I think for the first time ever, Jim Malone doesn't look really overweight or preposterously skinny. He just looks normal, and good for him.

Is there some website where I can put in my ZIP code and find a list of metal shows in my area in the next X weeks or whatever, and links to where to buy tickets? Sort of like BandsInTown, but for metal, and better.

Take My Bones Away, Cocanium, Sea Lungs, the Green Anthem, all loving great live. The Blue album tracks were stellar though. I think if they had trimmed some of the ambient/mellow fat on Yellow and Green it'd have been perfect.

Free Jazz/Black Metal Fusion band Shining(The Norwegian one, not the Swedish one) just announced a North American Tour: N. AMERICAN TOUR DATES: 9/17 Brooklyn, NY - Saint Vitus 9/18 Montreal, QC - Foufounes Electriques 9/19 Toronto, ON - Wreck Room 9/20 Chicago, IL - 9/23 Denver, CO - Marquis Theater 9/25 Santa Ana, CA - Observatory 9/26 San Francisco, CA - Slim's 9/28 Los Angeles, CA - Roxy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wqx6m7TVkMc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fkgXyaTD1gs Jorgen loving shreds on sax like no one else. The Chicago date seems like it might be a mistake though since another band is already scheduled for the Bottom Lounge that night. EDIT: They responded on Facebook, it's at Reggies for the Chicago date. A Fancy 400 lbs fucked around with this message at 00:58 on Aug 13, 2013 |

Fleshgod Apocalypse are streaming their new album on Terrorizer: http://www.terrorizer.com/news/streams/fleshgod-apocalypse-stream-new-album-labyrinth-exclusively-with-terrorizer/ I definitely like it more than the Agony. The symphonic parts are mixed a lot better and they don't have so much annoying clean vocals. Henchman of Santa fucked around with this message at 01:36 on Aug 13, 2013 |

Why did I not listen to Gorguts earlier? Obscura is rapidly becoming one of my favorite metal albums ever. The stereo panning makes me disoriented as hell, it's crazy how much this album affects my mental state.

Was browsing Bandcamp and came across a band called Wormlust. It's atmospheric black metal and I think it should appeal to people in this thread. It's really neat to find stuff like this on Bandcamp and being able to directly listen to it in its entirety.

The new Gorguts loving owns. That guitar (bass?) tone at the beginning of An Ocean of Wisdom slays. It really seems like they have a much deeper low end than they've ever had before. Glad to see Gorguts back in action.

The production on the album is amazingly good, the low end is seriously ridiculous without muddying up everything else. It's impressive. Luc's vocals are on point too, maybe the best they have ever sounded.

New Gorguts and Fleshgod both own. Fleshgod was a nice surprise, I wasn't mad on them at first, but my mate played me the album today and I loved it, so much so I ordered a copy for myself actually. Different, eccentric and intense death metal. The Gorguts album is absolutely ridiculous too. In equal parts fantastically proggy and ridiculously heavy, I love it. I kind of feel bad for Ulcerate that they have to follow it, although I'm sure their album will also be great.

On the touring front: TBDM are doing the UK and Europe(?) with Aborted and Revocation. Both Aborted and TBDM are great live. I tend to like my death metal more on the "ugly" side of things a la Incantation and early stuff like Morbid Angel, but I really enjoy both of those bands. Aborted scratch that "absurdly brutal" itch oh so well, and TBDM are a gateway band that I remained a fan of. I think Everblack is alright, but I thought Ritual was excellent.
