Most of them aren't shoegaze but Versus, Rose Melberg, Honeybunch, The Pastels, Jim Ruiz and Lois are all fantastic. Never listened to Dump but YLT is good as well!

When I saw them on the American leg of the rollercoaster tour, (with Jesus and Mary Chain and Spiritualized which pretty much was a mind melting experience for me) it was a symphony of buzzsaw guitar and those dancey early 90's beats similar to what JAMC was playing with on Honey's Dead. There was strobe and a lot of smoke. They did "Cherry" she stayed ghostly in the fog until the song exploded and she was right in our face and I found myself in love with the world. "Fait Accompli" just oozed sex and she was almost menacing with the "I've come to crush your bones" line. I saw them again with the Dandy Warhols in support of Come Clean and they were somewhat more of a straight up rock band bearing more resemblance to Garbage than they're 90's roots. I missed the Cuckoo tour and I still lose sleep over it. Now I want to go home and find my Curve LP's.

I'm listening to this new album by Still Corners on Youtube and it's pretty enjoyable so far. Never even heard of them before, it just popped up in my subscriptions. Aye, that was bollocks though wasn't it. Just him plugging his new record, and alluding to a possibility of a Slowdive reunion got more column inches. I'd love to see them again though - last time I saw them was on that double-headline tour with Cranes when Souvlaki came out, incredible gigs. Saw them at the Manchester gig and the London one at the Garage too. Wish Kitchens Of Distinction would play live again though - I think they've ruled that out though.

I'd still be incredibly surprised though if Slowdive reformed in the next few years though, mainly because a one or two members have very young children, not to mention having other projects on the go. I was really hoping Kitchens Of Distinction would play again too, but Patrick has ruled out any live dates, even though they are writing new material.

Does anybody know of any artists similar to Tokyo Shoegazer, MASS OF THE FERMENTING DREGS and NUMBER GIRL? I'm straight up hooked on this sound right now, particularly MotFD and to an extent Number Girl, though I know NG is a little more on the noise side of things. I just can't find anyone that nails it like these artists do. More into the heavier/noisier shoegaze and less so the pop stuff, but willing to give anything a go.

I went to see Kurt Vile last night and the opening band was The Swirlies, which was a pretty cool blast from the past. They sounded pretty great, too-- a little shambolic at times, but that's how their records were. So if you wanna see The Swirlies, just know that they're probably coming through town soon.

I saw Nothing, a Philly shoegaze band, a couple weeks ago on tour with Whirr and enjoyed their stuff. Not too many bands that can get away with playing their debut album live in its entirety and not lose the crowd... Swervedriver did, and they were (again) excellent. Ive seen them several times since the early '90s and they are as good if not better now, played for 2 hours too...
