There's a new Super Mario 64 speedrunning expert in town by the name of new_disease.

As a very occasional speedrun viewer (read: I watch cosmo and the marathons), I'm finding it pretty hard deciphering this video.

What I think I'm getting from it is that it's mocking whoever this guy for... liking a speedrunner too much? I guess he does seem like kind of a tool.

Everything he says is completely wrong and he is extremely confident about it. Getting cannonless has nothing to do with star rotation, Biinny isn't anywhere near Siglemic's skill level, a 55 in 70 star takes months of work and nobody with a 30 minute 16 star could do it, and obviously it's "Whomp's Fortress" not "Wombat's Fortress".

I have a really hard time believing it isn't parody or a troll.

Just a few minutes ago. He ended up with a 10 hour 44ish minute time, but a lot of it seemed to be tracking down packages and failing at some missions.

And yeah, it's close. There's a 1 second long fadeup before the countdown starts at -5:00.000, but after that countdown starts, the timer is indeed exact, based on a pretty simple After Effects expression I found somewhere on the internet. Late shoutout to whoever it was who wrote that expression!

I think it is really big of Cosmo to admit that he handled the situation poorly, too, and now hopefully that whole episode can finally be left in the past where it belongs. However, I have the feeling the only way it will truly be forgotten is if Wind Waker gets another chance in AGDQ and the run goes super good this time.

This actually seems to be more related to a friend making GBS threads on him, those attacks from people you know are always going to cut deeper. Some funny speculation going on as to who said it(joke suggestion was Sig, more serious one was Jiano).

Could very well be. It's really weird and it's gotta suck to have a friend you've known for a decade come down on you like that so his reaction isn't unusual or anything.

also here's a stupid take

As someone who has only for the past couple months really gotten into watching speed runs (mostly from the Marathons) I'm surprised that apparently there was such a huge explosion over that speedrun. I was still hella impressed at Cosmo's Windwaker skills and I didn't mind Mirrored's commentary at all, in fact I found it informative.

Incidentally, when is the next marathon? I've checked the SDA website but it still says that SGDQ 2013 is next.
