I just assume that the show will mostly be a monster-of-the-week procedural as they slowly try to figure out how to kill the horseman or rescue Crane's wife or do whatever it is they're actually trying to do. It's not just going to be them futilely trying to fight the horseman every week.

I can't believe only one person has made the Buffy The Vampire Slayer comparison so far. That's exactly the vibe I got from the pilot. When I go back and rethink watching BTVS it feels identical. They're straddling the line between absurdly stupid, funny and intriguing pretty well. It did feel rushed but I'm hoping that was just the nature of it being the pilot, BTVS had the same thing in the beginning.

I just sort of assumed that a show called Sleepy Hollow, about Sleepy Hollow, would have a series-long Big Bad in the Headless Horseman. And I thought that his being complete would bring about the other three, not that the other three would just show up out of the blue and create problems themselves. But if they can come up with other compelling monsters that tie in to the mythos, I'll be all over those. I just kind of assumed that the Headless Horseman would be Ichabod Crane's "white whale" and that if the Horseman goes, Ichabod goes with him.

Man, wouldn't it be great if the other 3 horsemen where on the bad guy side of America's wars. War himself burnt down the white house during the War of 1812, Famine chilled out with the nazis, and Philistine was on the Confederate side and recently trade in his horse for the General Lee.

Here is the relevant section of Revelation in regards to the four horsemen. quote:[2] And I saw, and behold a white horse: and he that sat on him had a bow; and a crown was given unto him: and he went forth conquering, and to conquer.

I've always loved the Sleepy Hollow story and this seems like it's going to be one of those shows where I can't wait for the next episode. Like other posters have said, not every show has to be award winning, it just has to be fun to watch. I'm also hoping for a quick montage that features Crane power reading an American History book or wasting an entire day looking up poo poo on Wikipedia.

I hope Headless survives to cut off someone's still living head to use as his head and it's just sort of sitting up there weeping and screaming bloody murder and then when he's done with it he headbutts a wall so hard his stolen head goes flying off.

Just caught up with this via On Demand. Despite having to deal with ad breaks and other such horrors... God drat, this show is loving insane and it's glorious. I'm in for the next little while. It strikes the balance between utter absurdity and just being witty enough to make it all work out.

I know the fish-out-of-water modern technology jokes are cliche and all, but I like the way this show does them. The line in the commercials about the cop's gun makes me laugh.
