Ground perspective video of the RDAF practicing air to ground gunnery with 20mm, mk82 and mk84: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R65tJenpHgI The 20mm sounds pretty dinky compared to the A-10 strafing videos on YouTube, but I'm sure it's not fun on the receiving end. The mk84s, however, make a very satisfying bang (camera at 2:34 made it, according to the postscript)

Probably a mix of not having the luxury of being able to replace perfectly functional weapons in the name of upgrades/standardization and every agency & department in Nairobi with two bullets to rub together responding to the call. If there was a similar "all hands on deck" in the USA in the era before Homeland Security grants, you would probably see a mix of M-16, AC-556, MP-5, various shotguns, and god knows what hand-me-downs the National Guard and local sherrifs had in the armory. The last time I saw an NYPD ESU crew tool up I saw an AR of some sort, an AC-556/Mini-14, a MP5, and an Ithaca 37.

There isn't a law, but the hollywood companies can't buy our uniforms. They have to make all their own. They filmed a lot of Battleship on my ship so I got to see a lot of the stuff on the inside. Rhianna was originally written to be a LT as well, but their navy advisor told them that there was no loving way an officer would be doing any of the jobs that she was written for, so they had to go out and completely custom order a new wardrobe for her.

Hollywood has been tapping people fresh out for a long time. Battleship's advisor was a friend's retired captain (O-6) dad. He was cool as poo poo when I met him at her wedding. R. Lee Ermy was just an advisor originally in Full Metal Jacket until he blew Kubrick's mind when he was drunk loving around one day. They actually cut filming the first time he yelled at private cowboy saying he wouldn't give a reach around. Ermy had to explain to Kubrick what a reach around was.

Any time I was on an Army or AF base, not a single person called me LT, only CAPT. I expect civilians to be worse about it.
