Suggesting that people credit the source when they post webcomics is hardly fawning. It's just polite to credit people for their work and it also helps people who thought it was funny find more things they might like.

When I was like, fifteen, my older brother and I found an old "games for children" book that had a variation on this, where instead of meowing, the "pussy" had to sit, frowning and stay that way, while the other person pet their head at the same time as saying "poor pussy". It's harder than you think to win, but even harder to not find those directions inappropriately funny, even without the illustration at hand.

Jerry Cotton posted:Is that from a "Trivial Pursuit US Only Edition"? All versions of Trivial Pursuit are country-specific since a poo poo-ton of questions have to reflect discrepancies in things by country (e.g. I played a New Zealand edition that asked how many slots a standard ATM has which is different in each country based on what functions are available, like if you can deposit/withdraw coins, if the transaction receipt comes out the same slot as the card to guarantee you take both with you, etc.). The sports sections especially are really different based on what sport is most popular in each country (the NZ edition focuses on Rugby, the Canadian one on Hockey, the US one is kind of a split between Football and Baseball etc.)

Honestly, it blew my mind when this image started making rounds recently. The book my brother and I found was from the 30's, and we mostly found the game hilarious because of the vulgarity of the word today, as we all are. It was a completely different book, with as I said, variances in the rules.

She's explicitly stated that she wasn't creeped away, she just didn't find it interesting enough to stick around. She still sometimes gets self-flagellating goons apologizing for being horrible disgusting creatures and scaring her off, and thinks our self-loathing issues are kind of weird.

It's the elephant in the room for sure. But I don't believe a webcomic artist doesn't understand why a community builds itself around self-hatred.
