Pugs are cool and all, but I can't get past the whole protruding eyes thing. And if I want something small and ugly then I'm going the Grumpy Old Men route of adopting a bulldog with 3 legs, 1 eye, and no nuts, call him Lucky.

The chillest dog I ever owned was part German shepherd and part husky (or maybe malamute; we're not talking about a really clear family history). The only thing he hated was wasps. Would jump surprisingly high to bite them dead.

She howls like a straight up hound when she misses me, and barks pretty much pug-style at squirrels in the yard. Here is a picture my wife took with her apparently early-2000's camera phone of Lola doing what she loves to do: take the receipts out of empty shopping bags and stoically guard them, allowing only me to pick them up without being barked at. I used to have a pretty funny video of me attempting to take a receipt from her while wearing the ubiquitous horse-head mask, which she was not happy about at all.

 Dog Child went to explosives detection class today for the first time, and outperformed several dogs that were 4+ weeks into it. He's also doing well at runaways (pre tracking training). Good Dog!
