Life would be simple in the forest except for Cyril Sneer. And his life would be simple except for The Raccoons.
Hello, time for another Cyril Sneer drive-by-posting featuring a whirlwind overview of the latest in electropop.

Firstly, Empire of the Sun has a new album out. Its very heavily produced and some would same cheesy, but if you can appreciate it for what it is, its pretty fun. The two big standouts for me are:

Empire of the Sun - DNA
Empire of the Sun - Concert Pitch This, IMO, just might be EOTS' single best song EVER. Its THAT good.

Cut Copy has a new album coming out shortly, and they're touring again. These guys represent the pinnacle of electropop so I'm super stoked.

Cut Copy - Let Me Show You Love
edit: I'm not crazy about this song but CC literally have never released something I didn't like so I remain optimistic about the album as a whole.

Capital Cities tune Safe and Sound has blown up this past year, and now they've got a new single out, and its hella catchy as well:

Capital Cities - Kangaroo Court

Holy Ghost! These guys are super great with a pretty unique sound. They've just released their new album, "Dynamics". This is their latest single and I'm a bit confused since its not actually on the track list for the album. Hmmm. Anyway, its very good and sounds somewhat like Watching the Detectives-era Elvis Costello.

Holy Ghost! - Teenagers in Heat

Okay, okay. To pull things back into da club, since I know that's what you're all really here for, we have the latest track from The Magician.

The Magician - When the Night is Over. This is probably his most mainstream-sounding track to date. This is a true club-ready tune and I really hope it makes into widespread rotation.

loving hell, Annie's new EP - "The A&R" - is fantastic. I think Invisible was posted earlier in this thread, but Hold On also kicks rear end.

edit: God damnit Cyril Sneer, make an electropop thread.

I know, I know. I've just been so busy - I'm supposed to have a thesis draft done by the end of this month, and then I'm being kicked out of my program in December.

Been digging this song by Kove. Really hope the album has the same vibes that song had. The weird dubby noises in the background were pretty cool too.

Hi,

I'm pretty new to this style of music and genre as a whole but I've stumbled onto a few creators, Mark with a K and Audiomachine in particular. Is there anything unique about the sub genre Hardstyle? What are some other good songs or artists to help me get into this. Hardstyle is the only one I've really dipped my toes into for this entire electric music style.

Yeah I could and still will comb through this thread trying everything I can but if anyone wants to accelerate it by linking me their favourites I'd really appreciate it.

Also Julio's got a new tune out!

https://soundcloud.com/juliobashmoremusic/peppermint

Looks like he learned from the last one and disabled comments for this (which I think is a little ridiculous).

Definitely more accessible than Duccy but for some reason I feel like that instrumental sample's from a Christmas or holiday song, I'm probably totally wrong. Once it hits its pretty nice though.

I've been watching some of TomorrowWorld's Youtube stream and the crowds are not very good. I'm not referring to size, though they are a little smaller than I'd expect. The guys are skeezy as gently caress, and the general mood of attendees is pretty lame.

I'd say it's because Americans are terrible, but the crowds at Ultra Miami seem pretty great on film, so :shobon:.

I'm up in the air as to if festivals that big are even worth it anymore. EDC Chicago was pushing it for me, but at least there were a few sets that didn't stick so close to the "festival sound". I've had way more fun at smaller venues!

I know I am going to be on this thread's blacklist for saying this but Avicii's new album is great. He is an amazing producer and I love that he has stepped outside of the genre to make electronic music. My favorite songs are You Make Me, Hey Brother, and Lay Me Down.

Also, I am extremely excited for Feed Me's new album to come out. I hate trap with a passion but the song he just released on soundcloud has an amazing groove and melody.

I don't understand why he should be praised for "stepping outside of the genre" - it doesn't matter if he used a guitar, dude is still making cheesy commercial radio music. He didn't have some avant-garde resurrection. He's not doing anything groundbreaking. He's putting out well-produced music that's trendy right now.

I didn't think I was lavishing praise on him or said he was doing anything groundbreaking. I was more trying to say that it was a refreshing album in that it had a good variety of songs that I enjoyed. I feel like all I have heard lately have been bangers and this was a nice change. "Stepping outside the genre" was probably the wrong phrase, I will agree.

New St. Lucia is up for streaming right now, and it's far from a disappointment. Elevate is going to be on heavy rotation... next summer. October is a really weird time for such a tropical, feel-good album to come out.

On the other hand, iamnobodi's Elevated dropped today and it came just in time to rocket up to my picks for album of the year. If you enjoy the future-soul sound, or just beats in general, you seriously can't miss this one. It's lush as.

how dare you post about an artist that is really popular right now you obviously have no taste in music. :downs:

I am really enjoying True, as well. Some of the tracks are giving me serious flashbacks to the 90's - some very strong influences throughout. Heart Upon My Sleeve is channeling some serious 90's Brainbug. I'm totally okay with that.

Shame On Me is triggering something in my memory - Chemical Brothers? Crystal Method? Fatboy Slim? I can't place it.
