Riders...
IN SPACE!
Kouta, at least at first glance, seems to fall within the selfless happy-go-lucky main Rider archetype, but the adulthood angle is an interesting twist, and I'm trusting Urobuchi to handle it well. It does seem odd, though, that he'd pick that as a central theme when the main target audience is made up of kids.

Urobuchi was a big rider fan back when the demographics weren't necessarily kid-centric. It wouldn't surprise me if he's making this a kind of show that anyone can watch.

Seriously, jonjonaug, there's no need to further clutter things with an un-needed thread that will ultimately get less traffic than this one, which is steady but never on fire with posts or anything. You wrote a good OP, though; ask someone to copy it into this thread's OP.

No. Just post in the Gaim thread. Or don't. Just stop whining about the thread existing.

I linked it in the OP just the same as I did with Garo. Any other show someone wants to make a thread about, I'll link to it just the same. It's not like there's any shortage of things to talk about in this thread, like there was one group subbing all these shows still.

ShinkenAnon caught heat for that, but honestly when he linked me to that video I couldn't help but embed it. It was too perfect for words. There's actually a single pixel on the screen, possibly buried under the header of the current theme, that has a youtube embed on autoplay.

I have watched Gaim and I just do not care.

It's like Kamen Rider Kuuga without any of the character or focus or purpose or style. But a poo poo ton more characters, lovely dancing, crappy monsters and waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more toys.

How are these two shows even aimed at the same audience? Bleh. Honestly the thing that pissed me off the most about the episode-please, for the love of CHRIST, if you're going to make one of your CENTRAL THEMES that we're going to WASTE SO MUCH TIME ON be about dancing...hire some loving dancers. These sons of bitches are so slow and so stiff that they make geriatric white people look like expert break-dancers. Is this really what we're going to have to endure? Really? gently caress me. YOUR DANCING IS BAD AND YOU SHOULD FEEL BAD.

Didn't Agito transform for the first time in his first episode and act confused as to what had happened? Or did he transform at some point between the incident on the ship and the first episode? Even if he did, he still had no real idea what he was doing at the start of the show and was a little freaked out by it from what I recall.

No on all counts. In the first episode, we see his Unknown radar ping, he drives off, transforms, fights, and busts out his finisher. He then picks a fight with Hikawa, and shortly after wrecking his poo poo he appears confused. A couple episodes later, he gains Storm form out of nowhere, and then a few after than Flame form. He never learns anything that would explain why pushing half the belt after transforming would shoot a weapon out of his waist. Or later how posing differently would summon a different belt, or that staring at the sun in this new form would give him an even more powerful new form. He just does these things and it works.

As for the spoiler: well, he transformed fully during the incident on the ship, and he'd seen his sister do so beforehand anyway. Not that this matters to what he knows during episode one of course.

There's no learning curve for him whatsoever.

Again a very likpatous story
Yeah I did forget about Kuuga, and I guess Ryuki to a slight extent, though Den-O, OOO, Fourze definitely had someone there to tell them how to use the belt and what they could do with it. I remember that Shinji was sort of on his own at first with the Ryuki belt too, but I think also maybe Ren told him some things about it? It's been a long time since I watched Ryuki.

I made it to episode 38 of Kamen Rider Black last night and oh my god this show is fantastic. Shadow Moon is so freaking great any time he does anything, from messing with Black to just going "hey how's this for a plot of the week, we just go and gently caress poo poo up?". He also has excellent taste in shoes (CLANK CLANK CLANK).

I kinda wish Katsumi were a bit more conflicted about Shadow Moon's offer to her but I'm fine with how everything turned out I guess.

Yesssssss. Kamen Rider Black was my first real excursion into tokusatsu besides knowing that Ultraman is a thing that exists and watching a bit of Power Rangers when I was a kid. As I've been branching out (mostly into other Rider shows and ZUBAT!, though I've dipped a toe into super sentai and Garo), Black has remained a favorite. Also, it has great theme songs for the opening and credits.

I remember the same sort of thing happened during the shooting of Forever Red. Like they got him after the whole thing was pretty much shot then just digitally inserted him in to the final cut.

Catching up on Kyoryuger is fun. Loving the series (currently on ep. 22).

However, I get the feeling that its pacing is kind of... Off. Putting the reason in a spoiler just in case.

So I'm just done with ep 22, and we have 9/10 members total, and Deboss himself just came down. I'm sure my question will be answered when I watch more, but when do you go when the villain arrives in episode 22? Hopefully somewhere good.

I kinda have to wonder how he was treated during his time as a PR. This is the goon in me talking but I would be stoked about being a PR and would share that bit of info willingly. Kinda makes you wonder how badly the actors were treated by Saban to warrant that sort of reaction.

It might not be bad treatment; it may just be "Oh that was a kids show from the 90s I was on." and the actor wanting to move on with their career/life.

Yep. Trust me, not everybody sees Power Rangers as anything special. You know how stupid you think kid shows are today? Or how lame your parents' kid shows were in the past? PR is special to us because we grew up with it. We got to experience it at a time when our brains were still developing and everything we saw was fantastic.

Its just weird as hell watching Kyoryuger and seeing them into their roles and showing the kids in the credits having fun then here in America nobody gives a poo poo, the actors are embarrassed, and they don't even try to act like they're doing this for the kids to have fun. Its just so transparent here.

Also next weeks episode looks like it'll top the Deboss episodes.

That's cos most actors who do sentai in Japan do it to further careers that already exist, and most of the time they go on to do other toku and also bigger careers. Also it's easier to see that you have an audience that loves you in Japan where sentai is a big thing where there are tours and concerts and stuff. Power Rangers, by comparison, is a thankless and lame job.

I also just finished Kabuto, finally. I didn't think the Natives story line was as bad as what I heard about here. I was a bit miffed it took so long to develop Tsurugi's/Sassword's story. The whole thing about living like the COMMON MAN was funny, at times, and just dull during others. I'll see if I can fit in Black while watching Gaim.
