MP Prowl is phenomenal.

You know... believe it or not, I wasn't even a huge fan of the MP line. Sure, they look awesome and usually have amazing engineering, but usually they're just so big and unwieldy you can't just fiddle with them on your desk. They're great display pieces, and great toys too, but maybe a little too big and complex. Prime v2 and Soundwave are definitely the best out of the larger MPs, but while Prime himself is great, he still has a big loving trailer that gets in the way and takes up a huge amount of space. Where are you supposed to put that thing? Where does it go when he transforms in the cartoon? Why can't it just go there?

Prowl and Sideswipe are hands down my favorite MPs. They are the perfect size, are highly detailed, articulated, and very accurate to the cars they represent. All they are missing are rubber tires and proper opening doors and then they'd be perfect toys. (A die-cast inner frame and feet might be nice for a little more heft and balance, but die cast car bodies have paint that chips and throw off the robot's balance so it's probably for the best that they lack gokin.)

There are a lot of people out there who love MPs and say MPs are gonna be their main line and they're gonna forget classics. I never felt like that, as classics is kinda my thing and the main focus of my collection, but only until I mess with Prowl and Sideswipe am I starting to understand.

I'm highly looking forward to Bumblebee and Wheeljack.

I was planning on just getting Prowl and Smokescreen out of the Datsuns, but part of me wishes to whole hog and get them all. You have no idea how much I regret deciding not to get Red Alert when he was "just" $80 and there wasn't a bunch of authentic looking KOs on the loose. Now I'll be lucky to find one for under $120, and even then there's a good chance that it'll be a poor quality fake!

"One Lamborghini is enough. Yeah, he's pretty different than Sideswipe and looks really good, but I think I'll be good. Besides, if I'm gonna get one, I want the realistic car and not the stupid Fire Chief Countach." God, hindsight is 20/20.

My biggest Transformer regrets are buying the Impossible Toys Arcee and not buying MP Alert I'd say.

you can look it up on tfwiki or you can ask for details in the thread, but most of it isn't really worth reading - Though I actually thought Police Action was really well written and nailed Prowl's character better than anywhere else in IDW. Also has a great Jazz moment.

You should try to secure a copy of I think 22-23, which flashes back to how Megatron decided on violence in his revolution though. It frames much of the later stories.

So specifically what happened that made Prime blackout or wake up and the war was over?

SpikeMcclane

You want the story?
I'll spin it for you quick...
The D-Void manifested out of the dead universe and made all the decepticons combine into the deceptigod. Prime opened the matrix in vector sigma's chamber and that was the end of the Transformers ongoing. Not a single bit of it made any sense or was enjoyable at all.

Spiderdrake
May 12, 2001

edit: and yeah, like Spike said, it's pretty bad. I really like Police Action but Chaos is just ... Ugh, not good. I wish Dark Cybertron had nothing to do with the Dead Universe, they need to get off that toilet for it be full.

Super 3 posted:

You mean the end of Chaos that leads into Death? The war was already over by then actually, it ends before the ongoing - Megatron leverages all of his forces into attacking all of the Autobot strongholds, but he "dies" right afterwards so there's no leadership structure capable of reuniting the splintered 'con factions. (as referenced in MTMTE, there's a TON of Transformers just out in space)

Anyway Galvatron is tricked by the Darkness, basically an Anti-Matrix from another universe, into attacking Cybertron believing the Darkness will "cleanse" Vector Sigma (or something like that) and otherwise something called the D'Void will conquer them all or someshit. So he puts the Anti-Matrix into Vector Sigma and with no other options Optimus opens the Matrix to save them all. Vector Sigma is implied to have reformatted and/or rebuilt several of them, that's why Cyclops had a 'special spark' - He was essentially reborn. (I think this is why Optimus is off in the middle of nowhere when he wakes up)

Meanwhile Megatron in his super warrior mode is fighting "The Decepti-God" which merged all the 'Cons on Cybertron into a huge hulking abomination; Megatron pretty much wins in the end but all of his on planet cons are basically ... Well, Megatron just beat them up, so they're not really too capable of doing much. This is the pool of 'cons captured before the return signal.

Opening the Matrix reverts Cybertron into a primordial state, basically reformatting Cybertron itself, as well as sending out a signal for all Transformers to return home.

Meanwhile, in Hong Kong, Michael Bay was attacked by the Triad.

quote:

Hollywood director Michael Bay has been attacked in Hong Kong while shooting the latest Transformers film in the city, suffering injuries to his face, reports said Thursday.

Police said they had arrested two men in the early hours of Thursday morning after the attack on a 48-year-old man named by local media as the “Armageddon” director, on location in the city filming “Transformers: Age of Extinction”.

The two men reportedly confronted Bay and his film crew in the city’s Quarry Bay district, claiming they were owed HK$100,000 ($12,900) compensation for filming in the area.

Police have now handed the case to specialist anti-triad units reserved for tackling Hong Kong’s notorious criminal gangs.

“When the movie crew was filming, one of the arrested persons was seeking HK$100,000 [from Bay], leading to a scuffle. Another arrested person suddenly attacked him,” police said in a statement.
