Why do people care so much about Hoxton's voice actor anyways.

For me, I generally pay attention to voice acting in video games. It's probably idiosyncratic. Since even the most sophisticated animation (which Payday is far from) is still in uncanny valley, the voice acting in games is the most human performance. I've been impressed by what Overkill got. Old Chains was drat sexy, New Chains is intense and hilarious, Wolf (not a professional actor) is surprisingly natural as a psychopath, and Old Hoxton was cool and novel. I don't feel one way or the other about Dallas.

But New Hoxton, my God. New Hoxton impresses me with how much I dislike his voice. Some pubbies have better voices, and that's saying something.

Just for anyone interested in save backups, I made a tool to make it slightly faster then having to manually do it. You can see the release thread on the Payday Forums at http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3198463

For anyone who doesn't want to trust me you can download the source and see it's harmless from the github linked in that thread. It makes creating backups ever slightly easier. Yes the source code is horribly written but when I did it I was in a rush, and just slapped it all together. I do have plans to clean it up and make it nicer. Anyone who finds bugs can feel free to PM me to fix or can submit a fix on github. Also currently only supports games installed on your main drive, but I'm going to add support for externally found Payday/userdata folders at a later date.

I'm scared to lose my utility. I play Techforcer, so I'm mostly shoot things/open things, but a Techforcer can't stealth for poo poo. At all. You need smooth talker, bags, shinobi...Otherwise you're just sitting outside waiting for poo poo to get loud.

Bah, if I can't do this http://goo.gl/mm87YC I'll be sad.

I think you typically get 4-5 loot bags out of deposit boxes, which does not add up a huge amount in the grand scheme of things. But to answer the stealth question, you want to get a silenced gun with Cable Guy(Aced) and Smooth Talker(Owned) at a minimum. If you can get Cleaner (owned) in the Ghost tree, it is very helpful for moving corpses that may get spotted. Dominator (Owned or Aced) is pretty useful in getting an extra guy down, if you can swing it. As for the gameplay, you need to take out the guards, then answer their pagers without being seen. If you break a camera, a guard will come to inspect it and this leaves you with an easy way to setup an ambush. I try to do an arrest with Dominator for the first guard, since guards will sometimes just pull their gun out and begin firing instead of giving up.

Tips specific to the bank.
The manager has a keycard that is either on his person or at his desk. He patrols and smokes, so get him when he is away from everyone and hope he has the keycard. The keycard is used to get into the security office, which you will want to do, unless you can take out all the cameras without being seen or setting off civilians to early.
When you start taking over the bank and the civilians have just been alerted, prepare to murder a few of them as there are 2 locations which have alarms they can press. The first is in the cube area, to the right as you enter from the stairs room. If a civilian runs at it, just kill them and lose a bit of money. The other alarm is in with the tellers. One of the doors will be open to their booth, be prepared to run in there and shoot both of them. Unless you have Control Freak, they will ignore you and go for the button. In general though, kill the tellers first to start taking over and at least be aware of what is happening by the cube alarm.
There are 3 or 4 civilians that walk around outside. People usually just kill them before going after the interior civilians or they will try to take them down when the raid starts. Watch out for these guys walking beyond the invisible walls. They can get alerted in areas you cannot walk to.

Stealth can be very fast if your entire team has Smooth Talker and at least a single Dominator. Just spread out, kill 1 guard each and answer the pager. Otherwise, you can coordinate the first 2 kills and answers to be done by the non-Smooth Talkers.

There are a number of variations on stealthing the bank which you need to be careful of. If the vault is by the tellers you need to control the entire bank. If the vault is towards the back of the building you don't even need to control the area with the tellers, control the office area to the side and take out the guards/camera room.

The camera locations can vary a bit and guard patrols can be slow. What I do for stealthing the map is I go through count the guards, look to see if the keycard is on the manager's desk. Once you know whether you have to take the keycard or stealth it from the desk you can proceed. Often I end up taking out the manager anyway as he patrols like a guard.

My order is as follows for solo stealth bank heist:
Due to the cash blown killing civilians in a solo run I recommend spending all your money. It's hard to deduct money when your balance is $0.

1. scout bank to get the above information.
2. take out a camera to bait guards into patrolling to check the camera. Answer pagers and hide bodies (some points in ghost helps).
3. Once there are one or zero guards left stealth the keycard if I haven't killed the manager in step 2.
4. dominate the camera room guard.
5. remove remaining guard.
6. cable tie the office area civilians. I understand there can be a variation where there are civilians on the side facing the teller area which can be an issue but they need to be dealt with in the next step.
7. get close to open teller door, drop ecm and kill tellers. Get all remaining civilians in the bank down. Look for exclamation points. Usually there is a guy on a bench outside the bank. Smash the nearest window run out and kill him and any other civilians that see you. Keep the bank civilians under control while you hide the bodies inside the bank.
8. cable tie all civilians, once you run out of cable ties kill the remaining civilians inside the bank.
9. I don't kill the remaining external civilians because there's no challenge sneaking past them (no need to blow additional spending cash).
10. Set up drill and proceed to loot.

I learn this with some experimentation and watching a few stealth videos. The two last runs both yielded about $312k spending cash each and about $1m in the offshore fully looting the deposit boxes. The earlier run was on very hard and I got lucky with 13 cash bags total. The last run was pro gold overkill. Only 4 bags of gold and 2 cash bags. I might have got unlucky with the gold spawn but it's pretty sweet clocking up $105k for each bag of gold.

I also figured out how to stealth diamond store last night. That's a special kind of torture and I ended up killing 20 civilians to do it solo. I did it on overkill which required 14 bags to complete leaving only 3 bags for big money. I probably should have played it on hard for loot purposes. Diamond store seems well crafted for coop stealth.

Out of anything I enjoyed running four stores on overkill more. Run in and ecm both ATMs and raid the cash registers before hopping in the van. One ATM completes the objective.

Yeah, but it's fun to decide what I no longer want to be able to participate in. Do I not want to be stealthy? Do I not want to be able to saw things open? Do I not want to be able to answer pagers or talk down guards? It's a brilliant decision to squash utility.

Oh hey another question. I'm digging my shotgunny enforcer build a lot right now and I just hit level 26 last night so I can buy the newer shotgun(The one that looks like Saiga 12) but it only seems to be better in a couple ways compared to my renfield 800. Should I just focus on modding the poo poo out of my Renfield or should I grab the Saiga one and use that?

Also suggestions on a secondary weapon in a shotgun build? Currently using the Crosskill pistol cause it looks like a 1911 and I love the way a 1911 looks but I'm thinking of switching to a SMG for something full auto that I can use for distance(snipers, outside cops that sort of thing)

Have you unlocked the Locomotive yet for a secondary? A lot of shotty enforcers prefer that, since they get class bonuses.

The Saiga needs skills and upgade parts to really shine. Without them, its damage is pitiful and the reload is painfully long. Once you've got Overkill unlocked though? It turns into a cop slaughtering beast. The Reinfelds in a decent spot right now so Id stick with it. Back it up with a Crosskill or Bronco and you're golden.

Alternatively, you could bring an assault rifle as a primary and use the locomotive as your shotgun. Gives you a little more oomph at range and the loco is drat good up close. The M308 is good for this as well but its not got much ammo, reloads slow, and badly wants that headshot bonus techs get.

Ended up gaining 20 levels in one match...after screwing up the first part of Framing Frames for them a half-dozen times.

I gained such valuable intel as "Don't fire your unsilenced weapon when stealthing" and "Don't pistol whip the guard we're trying to Dominate in the dick" and all it took was a little Mumble creeping.

During development, the issue was raised by Sony game testers that the name "Chains" could be seen as unsuitable for an Afro American character, because of the US slavery back in the days.

At that point we had already recorded most of the dialog so there was no way of changing Chains' name other than rerecording all the dialog where Chains' name is mentioned, or just changing the spelling of "Chains" to avoid misinterpretation.

We contemplated changing the spelling to "Chanes" or "Chaynes" but eventually scrapped the idea entirely since we thought that reading a racist issue into the nickname was a bit silly (although we appreciate that the issue was raised so that it could be considered whether it really was an issue or not).

Earlier, when we decided on the name "Chains" we (being Swedes) had honestly never thought of even the possibility to see a connection between him being black and "chains" being what is used to keep slaves imprisoned. We trusted that the gamers wouldn't overinterpret this and see it as an issue either, and went with "Chains" as initially intended.
