Any resource drop has a small chance of being a rare resource and bosses have a moderate chance of dropping one (in addition, all bosses have something like a 10% chance of dropping an orokin cell regardless of the planet's normal resource table). If you've got the gear or the friends for it, survival, defense, and mobile defense missions will throw hundreds of enemies at you, which makes it relatively quick to just get as many resources as possible, picking up a couple rare resources just through sheer volume. You can also check into defense missions, quickly open all the crates (there are only a couple maps and you'll learn all the crate locations after a couple repetitions), clear out five waves, and then claim your reward and exit. Or just do boss runs and collect warframe part blueprints while you're at it.

It hits in a radius around Excalibur that gets bigger as you power up Slash Dash, and is also effected by power range mods (Stretch and Overextended help, Narrow Minded hurts).

I try to aim slightly next to the closest enemy if it's an ancient or something bigger because if the slashdash isn't powerful enough to kill it, it'll stop you from moving forward.

Most of the Void stuff we did yesterday was fine, it was just the last wave of Defense I that was ruining us. Also I haven't gotten to Europa or Sedna yet  I might actually make some Derelict keys since I want to get the Bio research going in our Lab and that seems to be the only place to get Mutagen Samples.

Fun fact, Shotguns seem to proc per-pellet, which means the Hek is great for inflicting statuses now (assuming everything doesn't just die in one shot that is) Also for some reason criticals seem to get a much bigger headshot multiplier than regular shots, so if you're using an accurate critical weapon (such as the Soma, Snipetron Vandal, Soma, Latron Prime or Soma), line up your shots and go to town. Of course this also means Sniper Rifle damage is even more hilariously inconsistent but whatever.

Super noob question: how does one acquire special crafting materials for stuff likes suits and guns? Like, to build a waframe I need the chassis and helm or whatever, or for that first gun blueprint you need two specific gun parts. How are these items acquired? Do I need to do/go somewhere specific or are they just random drops?

Weapon parts either drop from bosses or are rewards from certain missions. The two pieces of that gun (assuming you're talking about the Seer) drop from the same boss that gave you the blueprint. The Warframe components have to be crafted. Usually the same boss will drop the blueprints for all 3 parts of a Frame, but there are a couple of exceptions. Then you just build the parts in the foundry and then use the pieces to build the frame.

The warframe Chassis, Systems and Helmet are blueprints dropped by bosses in Assassination missions. Each boss drops a specific warframe's parts. The Seer pistol requires a barrel and receiver. These are dropped fully build by Vor. There are other weapons that have similar requirements and their parts are always fully built. It's just a matter of collecting them.
