Does anyone have any recommendations for vocally-driven disco artists? I've been trying to find some new music, but so much of the nu-disco I've been stumbling on is either instrumental, just uses sampled/looped vocals, or has vocalists that sound bored out of their minds. I just really like that classic, Basement Jaxx-esque house diva sound.

For content, this is something a bit closer to what I'm looking for: (Luca C & Brigante feat. Róisín Murphy - Flash of Light (Solomun Mix)).

Boy, I think it's about time I tell you the difference between a man and a woman. A woman isn't a woman unless she's pretty. And a man isn't a man unless he's ugly.
So M.I.A. performed on Conan last night. I thought it had more earlier, but it currently has 147 dislikes. Am I missing something? I thought the song was catchy. People in the comments are criticizing her lyrics, but stupid lyrics haven't stopped others from success. *cough* The Killers *cough*

Old Town Road to EGOT

I watched the episode when it aired and thought her performance was loving goofy, and not in the good way. Every other musical guest on Conan has a full band on stage and she went out there by herself, which would've been fine if the song she had performed had been good, but it wasn't. I didn't find it catchy at all, quite the opposite actually. And she was using a backing track which made it all the more obnoxious to me.

Virginia off of Ostgut Ton uses alot of vocal driven disco tracks and sings live in most of her sets. She probably put on my favourite set of 2013 so I'm a little biased but anytime anyone mentions vocal driven house with that disco influence I'll always mention Virginia. I saw her here in Belfast then later in Panorama Bar and she was loving fantastic each time.

She doesn't play with a full band live either. And the new MIA is very love it or hate it. Personally I like it and watching her live was a lot of fun.

These aren't all French and they're not all record labels but check out B.YRSLF Division, Club Cheval, Sound Pellegrino, Pelican Fly, Squelch and Clap, and Folie Douce.

Sometimes, there's a man, well, he's the man for his time and place. He fits right in there. And that's Jimmy T.
I am headed to San Francisco tomorrow night after Thanksgiving Dinner to go see Morgan Page's 3D show at Ruby Skye. I honestly have no idea what to expect but I love Morgan Page and can't imagine being disappointed in the visual show. Has anyone seen a show of his on this MPP3D tour or a previous tour?

And then next Friday, I am going to see Oliver at 1015 Folsom in SF for his Disco to Disco tour. I am extremely stoked that it is 21+ which always makes it more enjoyable. The last time I went to an all ages show in SF, the crowd really just sucked even though the show was amazing (Mord Fustang and Feed Me).

I haven't seen anyone mention the new album Feed Me just released, "Calamari Tuesday". I was really impressed with a lot of the tracks on the album, my favorites being Lonely Mountain, Short Skirt, and Last Requests. I would recommend giving it a listen , pretty sure all of the tracks are up on his soundcloud.

I didn't know 1015 Folsom had joined the list of horrible venues in SF. Last time I was there, that place was still pretty interesting, and still allowed smoking inside, which is a nice rarity in California.

Public Works is, by far, my favorite club in that city. They also bring in great talent - Seth Troxler this weekend, for example. I've also heard great things about Monarch and their famous soundsystem, but I have yet to make it there. Ruby Skye is totally awful nowadays, but sometimes you can have a good night there. If it's an 18+ show it's a terrible place.

Someday I need to move to the bay. Sacramento, where I'm currently located, is an EDM desert. It kills me.

Speaking of Seth, has anyone here seen him? I'm pretty excited to catch him for my first time this weekend.
