This may sound like a weird question, BM, but why are you only getting the attention in MSM you are now - and not way earlier, such as when you applied to the Beeb for a job?

Is it because you are so central to the story of Syria's chemical weapons - which themselves are so central to our (Western) discussion and understanding of that conflict?

I've found myself in the position where I have to do a lot of self-promotion, so that means doing interviews, TV appearances, etc, to maintain and expand my profile. After the Croatian weapons story and the Guardian interview I got a big boost, and an increasing numbers of NGOs, governments, news organisations started to take me more seriously. Then the August 21st attack happened, and I started to collect all this unique evidence, and when it turned out I was bang on the money it made some waves, especially as certain parts of the intelligence community had been telling journalists my work was all wrong.

At the same time I've been getting more invites to attend and speak at various events, and a few weeks ago I spoke at the Google Idea's Conflict in a Connected World summit, and that went down very well, and the author of the New Yorker author saw it, and that's how the interview happened. I think one thing that journalists find really interesting is the way I work, so I've found they are keen to talk and write about me about that, not just the Syria stuff.

Journalists tend to over-egg that a bit, usually my wife or mother is doing childcare while I'm working, I'm just usually the first up to feed and change my daughter because my wife has a real job, while I just work whenever I want.

Just wanted to say that your presence here probably elevates SA more than the other way around, but reading articles that reference your SA connection as if it was something to be proud of is making me . Like for real. The idea that 1 goon can make a difference is activating my tribal circuits like nothing in a long while.

I probably just need to surf the internet for 46 hours or so until this feeling passes.

Please, resist any offers to speak at TED. I can only imagine your combination of plucky underdog :pcgaming:social media:pcgaming: and current affairs would have them drooling like wasps over a belgian bun.

On second thoughts, accept their invitation and then deliver a 20 minute summary of the NDS affair and why Murdoch (for new reasons) is a oval office.

Later in same email chain about 'Alexander Payment' Goodman jokes about being drowned in the Thames. Another email shows same jokey tone
Goodman on payments to officers "Two are in uniform - them, you, me, the editor - would all end up in jail if anyone traced their payments"

I also liked this exchange from yesterday's Graun:

quote:

The jury was also shown two email exchanges between the news editor, Ian Edmondson, and the royal editor, Clive Goodman. In one, Goodman asked if Edmondson had any information from the police. An apparantly confused Edmondson replied with a single question mark. Goodman then wrote: "Apols – cross purposes. Thought you were spinning some dark arts on this."

In another exchange, Edmondson asked Goodman if he had any confirmation of a royal story the reporter was working on. The newspaper's then royal editor replied: "The tale comes from William himself."

Responding, Edmondson wrote: "?" to which Goodman replied: "Not on email."

If anything comes out in the trial that shows people have lied during the Leveson Inquiry (which, you'll remember, was conducted under oath), will we see perjury charges?

There should be, they were under oath when they were talking. Although, most of them failed to remember anything, so don't expect much.

Literature is not exhaustible, for the sufficient and simple reason that no single book is. A book is not an isolated being: it is a relationship, an axis of innumerable relationships.

Following the trial pretty closely, I'm having a seriously hard time imagining what the possible defence could be. Maybe I'm getting ahead of myself but it seems to stretch the bounds of credibility beyond breaking to try to claim that Brooks and Coulson were unaware. The prosecution seems to have already strongly linked Brooks to the activity and the fact that she and Coulson were having an affair makes it incredibly unlikely he was unaware.
