2014's all about them going international so far, but according to that Reddit AMA Trent did, they will return to the States next year.

I'm kinda hoping he is working on scaling down the production and maybe doing some smaller club shows again. Perhaps I am a super gay, but I would still pay close to $100 to see NIN in a smaller, 300 or less person, venue with a basic lighting setup.

I think it might be reasonable to expect a scaled down production for some shows in the future, but probably not club shows. They've been playing big arenas and festivals exclusively for years now.

Though maybe that's because of the production values of their shows, so if they scale down production, they'd be able to fit in clubs. Not sure if they'd go back to playing them, though.

A portion of the Wave Goodbye tour were very simplified club shows.

There's a huge difference between a 2500-3000 seat club show and a 250-300 seat one. I doubt NIN will ever play tiny clubs like that again. I'd drop $100 on it in a heartbeat if they did though.

The Bowery only holds about 500.

795, but I thought it was over 1000 person capacity.

Other venues from Wave Goodbye:

Echoplex: ~700
Webster Hall: 1500
Henry Fonda: 1200
Aragon: 4500
Terminal 5: 3000
Hollywood Paladium: 3,700

When was the last club tour before that, the first With Teeth tour?

So, Trent likes to release little Christmas/New Years gifts via bittorrent every year that NIN is active or touring. Should we start the speculation for this holiday season?

What were they previously? One was the Downward Spiral tour doc video. Was the other one the complete Broken film?

Wired posted this article about the building of the Tension tour. It's mostly info we already knew thanks to the tour exposed videos, but this was cool and I'm not sure if we knew this already:

quote:

While most of the video and lighting was synced up to time code — which also allowed Reznor to constantly switch up setlists from night to night — there was still some on-the-fly interactivity at. During the song “Satellite,” Sheridan grabbed an IR camera rig and panned around the stage. The effect, which was immediately broadcast on the massive screen in back of the band, ranged from abstract as a bunch of dots whizzing across the display, to Tron-like representations of individual band member faces.

This was also announced today:

I checked their site and they also announced that they're playing Thailand, Chile, Argentina, Colombia and Brazil. I don't know when they announced all those, but drat, they're almost booked solid around the world from March to the June.

I updated the OP with all the dates.

Woah that's pretty cool. I wonder where in Thailand they will play. Also, I wonder how much it'll cost to get in. (I'm not there, just spent some time there)

While NIN news is slow I might as well post the new version of my remix of "How Long." The main difference is in the mastering/EQ (think Pretty Hate Machine 2010), hopefully it's noticeable to anyone who heard the old version.

His new album sounds pretty NIN. Moreso than his other recent albums. I think it's cool, but kind of weird. I love the old Gary Numan stuff, until that point where his albums got pretty bad, but then seeing him turn his music into something like NIN is a bit weird for me. Oh, well. Big Black Delta cancelled his Texas dates for no reason. He didn't even give a reason for his Austin dates where I was gonna see them at. Just a no show and it really bummed me out.

I like Periphery. Saw them with Deftones earlier this year and thought they were one of the better show openers I'd ever seen. Went home and got both of their albums, which are pretty good.

This cover's alright. Dude's voice makes it sound like he's hamming up the song a bit too much, and "purpose" doesn't sound like "porpoise" in this version :(

Plus it's a little by-the-numbers. Just sounds like he redid the original in the same style and everything. If he had done it in Periphery's style, now that probably would have been more interesting.

That cover could be worse but I still found it to be pretty painful. All the changes just made it less interesting and that dudes voice didn't really do that song any favors. I've never heard that guys actual band so I'm not making any judgements based on that there's nothing in that cover that really makes if worth listening to.

Surprisingly, NIN is not playing at Coachella. The gap in tour dates was set up for it.
