Slighty off topic cross posting from the cricket thread. But Piers Morgan was running his mouth about the English cricket team, calling a player with depression weak etc. Anyway he was challenged to a nets session with a older fast bowler (Brett Lee) who thoroughly lined him up. 3 body blows, he fell on his rear end getting out of the way and then got out. Satisfying, rather see him in jail though. e: The Guardian was quick getting it online http://www.theguardian.com/sport/video/2013/dec/27/piers-morgan-brett-lee-over-cricket a real chump fucked around with this message at 06:02 on Dec 27, 2013 |

According to the report on BBC the contents of the laptop/jiffy (which the binmen handed in to police) were the cause of the charges the accused currently face.

Every time I read something sensational about this story I worry the Brooks camp are releasing this shite to distract from the real issues (see also: David Cameron not knowing what 'lol' means).

So hang on, the content of an issue of Lesbian Lovers is at the core of perverting the course of justice or did the Brooks decide to dispose of a pedestrian grumble mag at the same time as evidence of criminality?

The point was that everything in that bag was very obviously stuff Charlie didn't want the police to find. They hid it (and then apparently got the NI head of security to hide it more) when they knew plod were going to pay them a visit.

Banano posted:That's kind of what I was getting at - LESBIAN LOVERS is actually completely irrelevant to the charges? You make a good point which chimes with an article that ran in the Guardian during the Leveson inquiry that suggested many people were only following proceedings because it was the only source of prurient details because hackgate had forced the media to tone things down. Which would suggest not only is there an interest by the powers that be to obscure the most important details but also a profit motive to do so provided by the lowest common denominator of consumers.

Hedgerows, railway sidings, grass verges, forests and playing fields, all good sources of pre-Internet grumble mags. Catching sight of pages pinned to bushes, or caught in goal nets, furtively checking to make sure no one else was around, sidling up to the potential jazz rag in such a way as to retain plausible deniability, quickly grabbing it and stuffing it into your school bag; decamping to somewhere more private to inspect the haul and finally the onanistic joy of discovering that it is indeed a Fiesta or Razzle and not a Women's Own. Sadly, for children born after the millennium, this is an experience that they may never have.
