I might have banished myself after being a little bit of a baby for SEMF two years ago. I haven't had much since then (except the yacht rock DJ gig which was really fun).

Basically, they wanted me to play 30 mins at 10:00pm at Harlows and it wasn't worth it to me, so I bailed. They didn't like that. Haven't heard much since, and not sure who the major players are now that I'm gone.

I think you made the right decision in not playing a 30 minute set at Harlow's. One of my friends DJ's at District 30 fairly regularly and I could talk to him if you are interested in playing a show there. Also, I do not blame you in the slightest if you have no interest in playing a show in Sacramento but it would be pretty cool to see you live.

Something off with that tempo, it would sound better if he speed it up just a little bit. Maybe not go so harsh with the Daft Punk sound.

Is there a thread for trance? I'm basically just looking for another weekly podcast to sing my teeth into. I listen to Above and Beyond's religiously and Gareth Emery sometimes. Is there one not on the main podcast circuit that you guys recommend?

No trance thread anymore which is a major bummer. My favorite podcast is The Global Warmup from Judge Jules--lots of sort of heavy stuff and hilarious puns.
If you haven't, check out Vonyc Sessions from Paul van Dyk--it's PVD so everyone's heard of him but none of my trance head friends listen to it. I listen to the podcast, not the radio show. You didn't mention a state of trance so on the off chance you don't listen to it there you go.
For more trancey trance you can't beat future sounds from Aly and Fila. Not really my thing but I've got a few friends who swear by it.

Back when I listened to trance, I remember Markus Schulz had a decent podcast. Does he still do it? Above & Beyond's Trance Around the World was the main one I listened to every week.

Pretty sure Markus Schulz still has his show.

And speaking of Above & Beyond, they released their acoustic concert DVD the other day. Old stuff, new stuff, OceanLab stuff, it's all there. You can watch the whole set here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CNUTlKqSO-I

This is the deep house track I've been working on for a while. It's done but I need to make a version where its "-6db across all channels" so I can get it mastered but I'm not sure how to do that so I'm figuring it out.

And here's a remix by Carl Hanaghan that's just pretty good vocal chopping and jackin'-ness.

It's basically just as easy as pulling down all track faders, so that the signal on the master channels sums in about -6 dBFS , without using any kind of compressor or limiter on the master channel. The process varies slightly across software, so I'll be happy to assist if you just tell me what DAW you use.

Nice. I've never heard house music in this meter before, but I think it works. It's got a solid, yet slightly off-kilter groove, and it's still recognizably "deep house". It would be fun to see some experienced house dancers interpret this.

Have you heard 7th Heaven by Kevin Yost? It's deep house in 7/4 and it's groovy/jazzy as hell.

It's poorly worded but seeing as the joint is AFTER HOURS, playing peak time poo poo isn't what they're after. That said if you're a DJ and you don't know how to play a set appropriate to the time your playing or the venue you're in then what the gently caress are you doing on a stage? It's like DJ 101... Also the people doing the booking need to research who they're getting. I mean you're not going to hire some oval office like DJ BL3ND to play after hours are you?

No idea, again it seems to have been put together by an idiot with poor wordskillz so I want to assume they mean poo poo like mainstream hip-hop as opposed to you new school beats kinda stuff. If not then they must be aiming for something fairly specific which would be better off mentioned than just listing poo poo they don't want.

That is a reasonable list for Las Vegas. Frankly, it might be a little hard to research DJs since any respectable DJ isn't going to be playing Vegas in the first place. I'm sure if the place doesn't go under, they won't be posting those rules after a while since they'll have an established stable of non-bro DJs.

Life's hard when your feet are the size of a house and also toxic.
Well the new Glitch Mob album Love Death Immortality got ripped off iTunes radio. Just starting it up now.

e: These drops are a bit hackneyed.

e2: This is quite a few strides closer to generic EDM than Drink The Sea was, which is disappointing. It still sounds like TGM, but only hard, fast TGM. There's almost none of their slower emotive stuff to balance it out and give it definition, which is too bad. Can't Kill Us is the only track on the album to really hit at that, and Mind of a Beast to a lesser extent.

That said I still like it. I think maybe I'm just not so into the house beats. It's not quite the album I've been waiting years for, but I'm far from disappointed.

Yeah I just listened to Love Death Immortality and to me, it sounds like The Glitch Mob did the exact opposite of evolving their style - Love Death Immortality is Drink The Sea after a year or two on the hype train (for most of the songs at least). In a way that was inevitable, considering how popular they got, but still.
