All I want is a mod for Call of Pripyat that makes NPCs abundant and has nice realistic balance and adds new areas. Don't care at all about new guns being added.

SGM 2.2 with Monsters 6 has a somewhat weird balance, you will probably pick up a really good weapon fairly quickly by scavenging, however, unless you are lucky, you will probably have to wait a while before you can buy faction suits or exo's, due to a ranking system, meaning that those same weapons will be being used to fill you with holes from much greater distance than usual, there are indeed plenty more people, mutants and zombies running/shambling around zat jupe and perhaps pripyat, for a plot reason the first non cop area you go to, red forest, is very sparsely populated, however, I suspect that most of the others will have a dearth of factions vying for control of areas, military warehouses has you pretty much clearing the map for a faction.
While exo's do make you a lot tougher, even zombies can be a problem seeing as I have encountered them with miniguns and lmg's, and while they are terrible shots usually, they still can headshot you.

Ugh, after a long break from STALKER, I was hoping to have a nice long playthrough with the new version of Misery, but radiation seems to be messed up...? Early on, I go to the doctor to fix my medium levels of radiation, but he takes my money without actually removing my radiation. Also as an added bonus if I try again and don't have enough money, he'll take me into negative funds and I automatically get the master trader achievement with like -1000 bux.

Wtf, this isn't the type of misery I want!

Put both the luajit and shiny dll's from the release folder in your bin folder after first backing up the luajit dll.

His has better performance too, it truly works with both CS and COP, and it gives more detailed error logs when the game crashes.

I view it as essential to both games.

Hey thanks!

Great.

So, how do stashes work in this game? Can I pick any footlocker or cooler and put stuff in it (like, will it be there later), or does it need to be one of the purple icon'd things that show up on the map?

e: playing SoC, first time player, etc.

The only "safe" stashes are the BLUE LOCKERS that specifically say "Open the box" and have nothing in them the first time you check. There's one INSIDE Sidorovich's bunker, one in Rostok Bar, another in the Yantar lavatory. Those are the only three I can think of off the top of my head.

Be careful - there are other blue lockers in settlements that say "Open the box." They have randomly regenerating items and may delete what you stick in there. Examples include the box by the campfire in Cordon village, the locker in the vehicle graveyard in Garbage, the expert's locker in the Wild Territory...

The rest are called "stashes" proper and you might get your stuff wiped out if you put it in an "undiscovered" stash, which then later gets marked in your PDA. Once you loot a stash, it is not used again and you can put whatever the hell you want in that location. Just remember where exactly it was or it's lost to the Zone

I dunno, I kind of like checking a stash I thought was in a good spot and finding a treasure trove of crap I left and forgot about. It feels like the game is giving you a no-strings-attached present for once :buddy:

Speaking of stashes, is the box near Arnie in the Bar safe? I generally leave my things there because hey, the Bar is one of the few completely safe areas (if you don't piss off Duty) and it's convenient that it's literally across the street from 100 Rads.

e so that this post isn't entirely dumb poo poo:
Anyone have any translated mods they like? SGM et al are already pretty well-known in this thread, but I'm wondering if there are any other hidden gems to be had.

That is specifically reserved for stuff you're not allowed to take into cage matches AKA your entire inventory at the time. End of fight, it's all there. Don't know what the chances of stuff getting deleted are.

Also, I love finding glitches and exploits in this game. Especially if they allow exploring inaccessible areas. I just wish I wasn't so loaded down with dead mercs' scalps loot and had to stop for breath every few yards.

I'm surprised that modders haven't tried to put more exotic Russian guns, like the VSSK Vychlop, ASh-12.7, and OTs-38 revolver, into STALKER. They'd fit the game perfectly and would be pretty cool. Shooting dudes with guns like a suppressed sniper rifle that fires a special 12.7mm/.50 round or a weird revolver would be really cool.

Agreed. The game really needs some good revolvers. The M1895 Nagant would be a good and Russian choice for a medium-level revolver that bridges the gap between two tiers of handgun (918mm and 9x19mm or 9x19mm and .45 ACP), while something like a revolver chambered in .44 Magnum would be the ultimate handgun in the game. I could see some pro Stalkers import a .44 Magnum revolver for when they need to take down mutants or dudes with a good amount of armor with a handgun.

Original Weapons Renewal adds a MP412 Rex which is a Russian revolver if I'm not mistaken. But yeah, I'd like to see more revolvers too.

And there's the Ruger in Misery. It's a .357.

But yeah, a Nagant would be awesome. Or what about a Smith and Wesson Model 3 in .44 Russian or .44 Special? Too bad I have no idea how to model 3d things.

In SGM is the first series of quests where you clear bandits necessary or can I just move on and do my own thing? Currently I'm tasked with finding a corpse in the village which is now occupied by loners. Problem is all the corpses are gone and there's no marker.

Also this is semi annoying but I changed all the "trader weapon condition" buy values down to 0.3 but the trader at the cordon still will not buy anying below 0.9 condition. I haven't met with any other traders yet but it still worries me that when I do eventually happen upon another trader they'll share the same pickiness as the cordon trader, due to SGM not obeying the trader folder files stats. TL;DR: In SGM are the trader weapon conditions located in another set of files? Or is the cordon trader's file located somewhere else? I'd like to sell my lovely guns I looted for quick cash. A giant part of the satisfaction of this game is killing dickheads, taking all their earthly belongings off their dead backs then pawning them for some rubles and miraculously fresh yet slightly irradiated bread and other munchies. I'm more of a fan of buying as much rifle ammo as possible. The 3,000 5.56 rounds, 2,000 5.45x39mm BP rounds, and 1,000 9x39mm PAB-9 rounds I have in a chest WILL come in handy sometime down the line, goddamnit! :argh:

I probably should do a run where I have unlimited inventory weight so I can become the Stalker version of a shmup boss that endlessly fires a huge steam of bullets.

I prefer the L85 for hilariously bad gun durability. I'd probably get through 600 5.56 rounds before the thing completely broke.

Some guy on Youtube did a playthrough of SGM 2.1 that you may find useful. He's not particularly good at the game or LP'ing, and I haven't watched past the first couple of episodes myself, but it's bound to be worth something.

And just you wait until you reach some of the later missions. You'll look back wistfully at the Cordon when you're trying to find Freedom gear in the Dark Valley that you're pretty sure doesn't exist :getin:

Awhile ago I tried to play misery 2.0 before getting completely sick of all the bullshit they added/broke to pretty much ruin the original mod and went back to 1.0. I liked the graphics and sound as always, and some of the new gameplay stuff seemed pretty cool, but then they managed to make every single thing I already hated about the game somehow worse.

Have they made it any less of a horrible slog where you regularly get attacked and instantly one-shotted by groups of 4+ people from long range (who are also pinpoint accurate with grenades) and where a totally normal bandit can survive a headshot from the mosin nagant?

Is Survarium still just Team DM? They really should have made a version of Wasteland from Arma 3, which is a much less frustrating take on Day Z. Two factions, an independent all vs all team, random public missions at certain locations defended by AI, drop the vehicles but keep the maps stalker zone size and detail and some monsters dotted. Perfect fit of PVP, PVE and survival that would fit the detailed FPS feel but they go and make Counter Strike instead.

two factions, yes, lets play "cheeky breeky counterstrike". No, I think more factions that are shifting in power, etc, is much more interesting, see the improved races mod in x3 for instance, stalker deserves more depth than just a couple of factions, also, sgm 2.2 does stuff in a weird way depending on what secondary mods you have, you either start in cordon, then go to swamps, or zaton, but return to cordon later, also, some mods have revolvers, but they are a Brazilian Taurus "raging bull", or something eually random, maybe I should look up wacky soviet weapons and try to make/mod some from other models. lets get our Irradiated Harry on, "Do you feel lucky, Hawaian...... well, do you you?" The thing about Survarium is that it's like in alpha stage. It's basically a tech/mechanics demo of their engine and gunplay. They have every intention of making a free-play co-op STALKER mode, but that's pretty far down the line. I sure hope they make it without their company imploding.

Yeah, its a demo and also allows them to get some funding from crazy folks willing to buy in when its still at such an early stage. Then again, I too am one of the folks that drops crazy amounts of money on alphas, luckily I've started to learn better than buy in instantly.
