They were opening up at the end. Tempo was high, they weren't trying to do fancy poo poo, there were sub forwards making desperate tackles on tired backs, the game picked up.

Shame about most of the game.

Genuinely disappointed we lost to a team like that. First half was a disaster and we didn't take full advantage at the start of the second half.

Also, for some reason, Super Rugby jerseys are apparantly cheaper in Wales than they are in New Zealand? All this years kits were $120 in Cardiff.

Everything is more expensive in New Zealand. It's loving bullshit. There was also that big thing a few years ago when the All Blacks jersey went at $180 RRP, and people noticed it was available at worldrugbyshop for about $100+S&H. Adidas then managed to get Worldrugbyshop to make the All Blacks jersey unavailable to any New Zealanders looking to purchase it online which caused a huge stink, leading to adidas employees to be literally yelled at on the street and pelted with various things.

This goes for almost everything. For example; The NZ dollar used to worth around $.50 to $.60 against the US dollar - it was a similar story for the other major currencies. Our prices were based on those exchange rates. In the last decade, as our dollar has strengthened against the euro, pound and US dollar, the prices still stayed the same. Thanks to the internet people started to notice this fact. Now a lot of things are cheaper offshore when exchange rates were taken into account (even with the added cost of shipping).

Just got back from the Waratahs game. Great start to the season against the Force, who, while not the greatest team on earth, have always managed to make us look pedestrian in the past. Jacques Potgeiter is a loving beast of a man, he looks to be a great addition. We're still weak off the bench at hooker, but have a great looking back-line, whose only weakness is kicking and a possibly undersized defence. Still lots more to go through before declaring the first coming, especially eager to see if Skelton doesn't get crushed by SA or NZ opposition considering how tall he is and how high he comes into contact, but the early signs are good. The work rate was as high as I've ever seen it and they seem to have eradicated the dumb kicking for the most part. I'm predicting a top of the Oz conference this year.

You may now mock my optimism, I wouldn't blame you.

England's victory yesterday proves how vital Sean O'Brien is to Ireland.Without him,Healy is the only strong ball carrier in the pack, and every time Healy got the ball there were two Englishmen on him.If O'Brien was there, the English defence would have had to work a lot harder than they did yesterday.

O'Mahony was disappointingly poor following the last two games. He's there for his ruck work and his ability to create turnovers but the English pack were blowing him out of the water yesterday. He's played 22 games for Ireland and has never made more than 10 tackles in any of those matches.

I still think Ireland can win the 6 Nations, but it won't be easy.Beat Italy by as many points as possible to create a buffer between us and England and then go to France get the win.The last two France-Ireland matches have ended in a draw and I expect this one to be another close one.

Also, there's two rounds left but Mike Brown is player of the tournament for me so far,and I think he'll get it in the end.Anyone disagree?

I'd say Lawes, O'Mahoney (though he was quite good yesterday, actually) and Faletau are in with a shout.

I thought the game yesterday could've gone either way easily. I still have no idea why Ireland didn't try to maul more; I know Schmidt wanted to do some different tactics but the kicking game wasn't working due to Brown's brilliance and they couldn't cut through the English defence either in close quarters or out wide. The Irish mauls seemed genuinely threatening for the three or so times they were used!

I my favourite part of the match yesterday was when England blew a five on one overlap and you can hear Jiffy going "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO"

The best thing about England continuing to pick Ashton over the previous two seasons was that it distracted them from noticing Mike Brown wasn't at full-back for some reason.

He's a bit slow, but other than that he's up there with Halfpenny and Dagg imo.

Yeah they were really struggling to find anyone in the forwards who could make it over the gain line, POC used to offer that but he's not so much of a ballcarrier anymore and without O'Brien it's something Ireland really lack. I'm hopeful that Iain Henderson will turn into a consistent threat with the ball in his hands, he looks a bit over-eager to beat the tackler sometimes but he has a lot of maturing to do physically and mentally and having a big athletic fella like him in the second row to carry some ball would help Ireland a lot.

Watched some Aviva premiership highlights last night and saw James O'Connor, has anyone seen much of him at London Irish? The highlights only showed him kicking at goal, when will he be heading back to Australia anyway?

drat, bad news. Good thing we've got Morgan to take his place, though I can't help but wonder how much more comfortable this 6N would be for us if not for so many injuries. We've got a pretty solid (if rather green) side, but if we weren't missing Corbisiero, Tuilagi, Parling, Yarde, Eastmond etc we would have a hell of a team.

I think every team is able to say this about some of their players this year, which I don't think has helped the tournament as a whole.

There's been some bad news for France this week.Fofana is out for the rest of the championship, likely to be replaced by Maxime Mermoz, who's a good player, but doesn't have the individual talent of Fofana.Picamoles has been dropped from the squad and Morgan Parra has been included on a preliminary basis as he's facing a committee on Wednesday over in alleged headbutt in Clermont's match against Montpellier.

The foremost being no team wanted to give him a contract on account of him being a dickhead. Yeah, pretty much his only chance is if he plays his socks off, scores %99.9 of his kicks and sets up an orphanage in a 3rd world country.

Yep. France got two lucky tries, England had far more opportunities but wasted most of them. England also lost their best wing 5 minutes into the match.

I really wouldn't be surprised if France lose to Scotland and Ireland, though I don't think Ireland have beaten France in Paris since 2000.
