Penske has actually looked pretty impressive too.

Would be nice if we had the old points system, because a Brad K. V. Jr title battle would be a cool thing.

raring to post

The 88, 4, and 2 have been pretty ridiculous so far.

Side note, I'm really surprised at how well the 4 is running... and how bad the 14/41 have been. Wonder whats going on over there.

Well, unless they have a ridiculously bad year where they finish out of the top 30(?) in points, or more than 15 people win in the first 26 races, basically, yeah.

Junyer and Kes have a helluva 1-2 battle throughout the season and take each other out at Homestead. Jimmie wins his seventh title with a fourth place finish. :getin:

That was pretty drat frustrating to see Jr sputter with 2/3 of a lap to go. I shouldn't complain considering where he was at this time 3 years ago, but that's what success does- it creates expectations. Last week I was totally fine running 2nd, but this week we let one get away. I'm not sure what more he could have done, I guess he just needed a little luck.

And all this Jr talk got me thinking; you know who he closely resembles? Terry Labonte. Look at it this way, Terry and Jr both had early success and then a mid career swoon where they did next to nothing. Obviously Terry bookended his mid career with championships, but from 1987-1994 he really wasn't much of a factor. Jr's career is a truly unique experience in which early highs gave way to some of the lowest lows a professional race car driver can have. His resurgence should be commended if for no other reason than for the tenacity it took to stick with the sport when there had to be times that he asked himself if it was time to quit. If he can get into victory lane two more times this year and finish top 5 in points I will happily declare this season a return to his DEI glory days.

Which means next year will suck. :smith:

One consolation to the race was that, unlike when he ran out at Charlotte two years ago, this wasn't as heartbreaking. This was just a bummer, Charlotte still loving stings.

Best part about the chase is without it, despite winning 10 races JJ would have lost to JG in 2007.

Actually, JJ - three time champion has a ring to it. Don't know what I think about Carl Edwards, two time champ though.
