What was the right-side configuration? My guess would be Johnson/Bukuya/Tuimavave/Fish, on the assumption Bukuya bumped Mannering over to the left. Johnson is what he is, I have no idea what Bukuya's like on defence, I don't care much about Tuimavave (and Henry would probably be a better option if healthy) and Fish can do his job.

I'll take your advice and avoid looking for the video.

Tuimivave/Fisiiahi was exposed badly. Also Hayne ran basically the width of the pitch across the defensive line then straight up clowned 'defensive specialist' Dane Nielsen on the other side. Ankle syndesmosis for Gallen, that's 6-8 weeks minimum isn't it? The sound of 100,000 fantasy coaches screaming in rage :getin:

Hey the Leeds-Huddersfield game was a blast! Also it ended it a tie because League in the UK still is not completely free from the shackles of soccer, I guess. And it was a good tie, too, not like the Manly/Melbourne game.

It was a good game which the giants will be gutted not to have won. They should have won. I got drunk and spent the last half hour annoying the skinny steward who kept telling me to sit down. Dick.

Depends on intent, I haven't been watching. If it was just reckless/lazy it's just a reportable offence.

If Nielsen can't at least defend, he's worthless. That guy is a Mannering level black hole on attack. Sounds like we have no idea what we're doing at centre. Laumape deserves a shot, he looked good last year until the grind got to him. Ropati should have been cut loose years ago, having him even as 18th man scared me.

Ropati must be amazing in training or something because I can see no other reason he's still at the club.

Fish and Vatuvei are so ill disciplined positionally and when the centres aren't doing their defensive work for them we fall apart. The commentary box and crowd all cheered when Fisiiahi came inside to tackle an opposing centre as he got the ball in a dangerous position but it's actually that kind of poo poo the gets us exposed time and time again.

Our defensive display also masks how bad we were going forward. Once again we get plenty of sets right in front of the try line and have absolutely no idea what to do with it. I don't think I've ever seen a clever set play from the Warriors in their entire existence. Passing the ball to an onrushing Paleaaesina was about as complex as it got.

Hopefully Jake Mamo get's a shot at fullback, kid is a gun. Otherwise it will either be Gidley to fullback (and Adam Clydesdale/Travis Waddell hooker combo) or Gagi to fullback with Chanel Mata'utia in at Centre.

Jake Mamo or Chanel Mata'utia good cheapies for fantasy!

I don't think Gidley will actually play fullback. He only just came back from the foot injury and all. Plus no other hookers named on the bench supports that.

I've always maintained that Vatuvei is much better defensively than anyone ever gives him credit for. In one on one situations with his opposing winger, he usually does a good job. Where things go wrong is when his centre (usually Ropati) fucks up and leave Vatuvei with two guys to mark.

Centre was our obvious weakness all along, it's a bit annoying that we didn't give it much attention over the offseason.

Johnson has a proven history of running good red zone plays, having Tomkins around should help there. There was a try by Johnson in the trial against the Broncos which was created because the defence was paying too much attention to Tomkins.

We had the exact same conversations about Ropati last time they dragged his corpse back to first grade, and surprise surprise he single handedly lost us games. He can be the nicest guy in the world but the only way he should get on the field is if he's Ruben Wiki's assistant waterboy.

If they're punishing Hurrell for his offseason weight gain then put Laumape or Kata in there, or stick with the plan and persevere with Tuimivave. It's a shame Peyroux is injured, he was great off the bench last season and deserves a crack at a starting role too, although they might see him more as a second rower.

I think Kata needs a bit of time before he's ready, but we've got Henry, Laumape and Peyroux around who are all better options than Ropati. Plus for good measure they're making Ropati play on the right, when the rest of his career has been spent on the left. Peyroux and Henry are better suited to second row, but they can do a good enough job at centre if necessary.

Hurrell showing up overweight just reinforces my opinion of him- he doesn't seem interested in putting in the hard work to be a good first grader. His defence has shown no sign of improvement. Compare that to Johnson, who at least appeared passable on defence at times last year (and I'm pretending that any fuckups in the Eels game didn't happen because I didn't see it).

Nah he was pretty good tbh. Lots of direct running and always positioned himself well to make quick passes at the line. Would be nicer if he had more than just Johnson to play off though.

The goon league is in Daily Telegraph Supercoach.

edit: They really need to consolidate all of them into one with better prizes and functionality, I know from experience it's too hard to adjust to the different rules and scoring across the multiple games at once.

It's about finding that next group of core players we can win with in the next 6, 8, 10 years. Let's face it, it's hard for 20-, 21-, 22-year-olds to lead an NHL team. Look at the playoffs.
