What a week it's been.
So much to talk about.
And so many things we can't talk about.

you can tell from the get-go who was hosed and going home with ep. 8 so at least there's that?

what would happen if Bianca and Willam teamed up? has that happened? would an ep of Bianca's Wheatdown come of it?!

Shhh... don't wake up the sleeping lion :3:

Bianca was absolutely amazing and Laganja's time is due, nothing more needs to be said.

Trinity is the biggest surprise this week! No one really came close to Bianca in the comedy challenge, but if I have to name a second it would be Trinity. The cookbook bit was already funny, but "she had an ear infection so she starved to death" was comedy gold. :haw: Bianca and Darienne relied on rapid-fire jokes, but I thought Trinity's performance is very cleverly structured and showed the most thought. A shame she doesn't command the stage as well as Bianca can, though that's a tall order.

Ben's comedy segment was surprisingly bad. I can see how it could've been funny, but it turned out to be almost as bad as Laganja's performance, and that really says something. And I thought Adore's character would suit stand-up comedy perfectly.

Courtney continues to... not impress. I don't think she's bad, she doesn't shine as much as I initially expected her to. And concerning her bitchy (?) comments about Joslyn's lack of polish, I don't think Courtney's in the wrong, really. Adore's lack of polish is intentional, but Joslyn seems to be trying to do something - genderqueer? glamour? - and it's not really working. I love Joslyn, but she is very defensive about it.

Speaking of which, the rivalries feel very heavily edited, aren't they? As if the producers are desperately trying to find some Rolaskatoxx vs Jinkx/Sharon Needles vs Phi Phi somewhere.

And of course, the synchronized splits :allears:

Too fat to wear pink.

This was just a glorious week to be a RPDR fan.

I think Courtney is right about Joslyn's drag not being as polished as some of the other ladies' drag. I don't think that was a really cruel read and Joslyn is failing to see the truth in what Courtney is saying due to her own worship of Courtney. She was incredibly hurt by Courtney because she doesn't see Courtney as a fellow competitor/companion. She put Courtney on a pedestal and all of the hopes and expectations on it. I really hope that Joslyn knocks out of it next week because otherwise, I think she's a charming queen in a similar vein as Adore.

On that note, I can see how Joslyn and Adore share some similar strengths and flaws. They both have trouble with the runway looks because their outfits aren't as-well composed as Bianca or DeLa, but their other talents and most importantly, their charm and personality really pull them through.

Same can be said for Courtney, if it wasn't for that amazing voice of hers and how she uses it.

There is already an extended clip for the comedy challenge on LogoTV's website.

Ben was actually very funny in a clever toned down sort of way but it just doesn't work for stand up. It's a real shame because I love that kind of humor a lot more.

Also there is a new Billam's Wheatdown about popping zits which I can't bring myself to watch (I just ate :().

Haha, no you certainly don't want to watch that.

About the new episodes:
Good to know that the editors and script writers hated Laganja (or more precisely, her constant catchphrase spouting) as much as the viewers did, 'cause holy poo poo, she got loving eviscerated this week. I'm not sad to see her go and I'm happy Joselyn stays.

Yes, I agree that Joselyn's looks are not quite as polished as what some of the others present. But Courtney really, really showed a mean side this week. It was not just that single comment in Untucked, she was needling Joselyn throughout the whole challenge and was incredibly patronizing. It didn't really look good on her. There was scene later when they were doing their makeup. Joselyn was telling a story about her grandparents (I think), and the way she spoke was a lot more serious and determined than her usual bubbly self. You could really sense how pissed off she was that Courtney behaved like such a bitch, and I felt like cheering her on.

Joslyn is really quite something. She's smart as a whip despite the giggly-bimbo routine, and she's making Courtney's attempts to undermine her look real petty. Miss Congeniality is hers to lose imo.

To be fair, I thought it was just that Alyssa thought Laganja was a good dancer and that she should focus on that rather than drag. But, whatever. I think it was TLo who said Laganja reeks of suburban white privilege, and that was pretty spot on. Shade is okay, but whiny is obnoxious.

LaGanja is a child who, I assume, has been given nothing but love and adoration her whole life and is now too spoiled to have any barometer for what normal human relationships look like. I'm guessing she hasn't had too much in the way of specific hardships in her life either or she would have dragged them out at the slightest provocation in a "bitch, you don't know me!" kinda way. It also doesn't help that She probably hasn't done any performing outside of cunty/fierce lip syncs at drag bars, and now that she's on drag race where she needs a real skill set, she's risen to her own level of incompetence, coupled with a over-inflated sense of worth, and now she doesn't know what to do with any of this information.

Watching her friendship with Adore crumble was pretty awesome. Not that it can't be rebuilt, but it definitely isn't what it used to be. Watching Ben crumble isn't nearly as fun. I want him in the top 3! But watching How Trinity Got her Groove Back has been nothing short of inspiring. She did great in both challenges! And I want Joslyn to win one cuz that would make me happy. Courtney's critiques, btw, were not wrong, but the delivery was shady. But Joslyn didn't make too big a fuss out of it either. Mostly just a sharp comment on her part. Compared to some of the other poo poo that's gone down over the seasons on this show, they were at the height of decorum. Josyln is so a lock for Ms. Congeniality, does anyone on the internet dislike her? It doesn't seem that way.

But seriously, watching Laganja crumble was glorious (I am an awful person, yes). I also will accept the possibility she has a personality disorder, because seriously.

After a couple episodes, I started joking about Adore Del Rio (seriously, Bianca, adopt that kid she needs to learn to sew), and now it's Trinity Del Rio.

She skyrocketed into first place for me because mentoring younger queens is both very sweet and also very Ru. She tries to forge them through mockery and hoarse shouting instead of through runway reads, but the principle's the same. Bianca might be the most RuPaul of this season's queens.

Basically, Bianca, adopt every contestant. Show them your ways. RuPaul's Drag Race Season Six Del Rio.

I really hope Bianca sits Ben down and says "Honey, you're a costume queen. Remember how Michelle hated Jinxx for doing what you do only more annoying? Play to form, stop trying to win over someone who hates you."

Ben was my initial pick to win but the way she's getting all inside her own head about things Michelle says is really upsetting. She's the most naturally charming motherfucker since Manilla Luzon, she shouldn't be hitting near the bottom in a challenge where she has to be saucy and charm a bunch of old people with comedy. I still hope that the top three are Ben, Adore and Bianca though, and that either Darienne or Joslyn sends home Courtney.

Which is what someone would say under the circumstances, but I'm willing to give her the benefit of the doubt. Unless she became an egotistic über-bitch overnight, which is possible given the alternate title of this show, Drag Queens in A Pressure Cooker.

The thing I don't get is she has such a great, weird personality out of drag, and a great, comedic, charming persona in drag, and yet she just hosed up two challenges in a row that she should have knocked out of the park if she would just stop trying to get Michelle (and to a lesser extent, Darienne) to like her.

The way Ben just held poo poo together while Darienne was trash-talking their relationship to Ru was incredible; all smiles and "You really think we're that different?" pleasantries. Bring some of that professional-rear end confidence back to the fuckin' challenges.

I feel like this "Best Moments of Alyssa Edwards" video (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIFqNXiA5kI) gives some insight into Laganja's affectations. She's not doing Laganja Estranja, she's doing Alyssa Edwards. Which makes some sense since Alyssa is her drag mother and Laganja seems to be a very insecure person. Instead of relying on her own personality to shine through, she's decided to imitate someone else and take it to the next annoying level.

The thing is, it works with Alyssa because that's just her natural personality to be an over the top caricature. She's weird and clueless all on her own, there's no effort involved. Laganja seems to be working extra hard to be what she thinks a drag queen should be and not just herself. Which is a shame because she's a pretty girl, she can move and she has some cool costumes, (I will agree with her that her looks are usually put together better than Adore's) but nobody is going to pay any attention to that when she's so goddamned annoying. I actually really liked her pink afro and rainbow outfit this week, but her comedy was awful and she definitely deserved to go home.

As for the others, I'm completely over Courtney and Darienne just needs to shut the gently caress up. I thought there must be more to Land o Lakes' hatred of Ben, but nope, when she was explaining it later it was literally just about that one comment Ben made about winning two challenges. I think maybe the producers were just fishing for drama because it seemed like it really came out of nowhere.

I loooove that Joslyn out-splitted Laganja and I'm so glad she stayed. She's just adorable and so nice, not to mention she has a bangin body. I couldn't believe how outright mean Cuntney was being to her. It's one thing to be a bit catty and play up the "Oh I'm the best one here" schtick but it's another to just cut down your teammate for no good reason, especially when you know they look up to you. Maybe she was possessed by the ghost of Roxxxy? I thought it was a stark contrast to sweet little Adore who was talking about how she was too polite to tell Laganja she sucked.

I'm starting to think Adore might be my favourite which is funny because I hated her in the beginning. But, like Bianca, she's not actually as bitchy as she seems. My dream Top 3 would be Bianca, Adore and Joslyn, but I know that'll never happen, so I'm gonna predict its Bianca, Adore and either Cuntney or TKB coming in as a dark horse. Ben should be there, but I feel like she's gotten too into her head now and ahaha like Darienne would ever get to Top 3.

Trinity to me is the best when she's doing nontraditional or overly-theatrical (oxymoron for a drag queen?) makeup. Her first runway is still my favorite she's done thus far, but that piece there is PRETTY GREAT. The others, also great. This is from the next episode I assume/hope? Best runway ever if that's any indication.

I still really like Courtney, and feel like she's getting a weird edit (see her being super-charismatic while credits roll, plus some untucked moments). That said, she was needlessly rude. She and Joslyn are apparently still friends on the social medias, but then again, she also maintains that her comments to Joslyn weren't shady, just "helpful". I agree with her main point that Joslyn's runways are/were unpolished but drat, there had to have been a more tactful way to say it. I don't want her to lose because of what she said; I just wish she were popping more on the main stage to help take the edge off some cattiness 'cause that's all she's really stood out for since the musical challenge.

It's also pretty unlikely because non elimnations are always done for ~story purposes~. It's always someone who's scripted to get really drat far, and yes I count Willam's disqualification as a non elimination. Season 3 had Yara get to the top 4, season 4 had Sharon and Phi-Phi, 5 was Roxxxy, and now with 6 we have Ben. Ben's getting to top 3, there's no reason he'd be kept on otherwise.

Yeah, and I don't even feel like what she said was all that bad, but from Joslyn's point of view she is literally the worst possible person to be saying that. I've totally thought about this, and I've noticed that for me it's largely context-based. I usually default to female for the vast majority of the queens, unless I'm talking about someone with a drag persona that's clearly very different than their interview/workroom self. Like Ben, for instance, or if I'm talking about them completely outside of a Drag Race context. I think I even posted something about Milk earlier in the thread and said "He's cute out of drag" or something. It definitely varies a lot, though but if I'm talking exclusively about boy-Jinkx* or whatever, I'll use he, but otherwise I pretty much just say she. I will throw in the occasional he if I'm being shady, for instance, to clock someone horrible like Serena from S5. Except for the trans queens, obviously I use she permanently for them when I find out they're trans.

For Laganja I've been using the Cro-Magnon pronoun, "Ugh."

I think Ru said it best: "You can call me he, you can call me she, you can call me Regis and Kathy Lee. I don't care, just as long as you call me!"

*a great name for a gay bar

I love you for making this comparison.

I usually say "she", but sometimes call the queens "he" if they use their boy-names professionally. I keep wanting to call Ben "he". Willam is always "he". (He's a special case because as far as I can tell his drag persona is completely indistinguishable from his guy-self, except with more eyeshadow and packing tape.) I called Chad Michaels "he" too. It's weird.

Unrelated: I've seen people postulating that Laganja's meltdowns might have been exacerbated because she uses weed to medicate for anxiety, and the queens aren't allowed to smoke, even offcamera. Why is this? CA is a MMJ state and the requirements for medical need are extremely loose; you pretty much just have to stroll into a storefront on the Venice boardwalk and say "sometimes I get the mulligrubs, give me some indica". It's still illegal per federal law, of course, but not in practice. Jinkx has said that she was an unhinged weepy mess on her season because she couldn't get high to help her sleep, and she has a legitimate diagnosis. They're allowed to drink. I don't get it. Laganja still sucks like a jet turbine.

According to this advocacy group, the federal government does not recognize marijuana as having any medicinal value (which is loving bullshit I mean, a shame, since cannaboids show great promise as anti-tumor and anti-inflammatory medication) and still qualifies it as an illegal substance. Using medical marijuana is a very dicey proposition, despite state laws. So I'm sure Logo doesn't want to be held responsible should someone's marijuana use get back to the channel.

What Laganja really needs is a behavioral therapist to teach her life skills.

I try to pay attention to the non-tumblr trans talk, so I can learn the right way to address people.

If it looks like it's a female, and expresses as female it's her.

If it looks, and expresses, then it's him.

If I cannot tell, or if they do not have a very obvious gender expression, it's they.

If it's a drag queen, it would depend on if they are trans outside of drag. Aka Carmen Carerra, Monica Beverly Hills, Sonique, and Kenya Michaels I would always refer to as her. I would only ever call a drag queen him outside of drag, or even in drag depending if they were out about their gender identity. Some queens I just call her because of their amazing talent of imitating the gender of being female, while identifying as cis.

Saw this on another site, but does it ever ring true on what Laganja looked like in episode 7. That off center widow's peak kills me.

I'm really happy she's gone. Her affectations were really grating and it was kinda cathartic to see the rest of the queens call her out on it.

I think Ru called it best when LaGanga was saying that she speaks like that all the time and everybody loves her, to which Ru said, "Girl, that's the night club." I'm sure on stage that worked great, especially with people knowing that she is Alyssa's daughter and Shangela's sister. Having to listen to somebody speak that way 24/7 isn't even the problem. It's just the way that LaGanga did it, it sounded so forced and fake. She just didn't seem like a genuine person, even to Adore who has known her for years.
