You might be looking at an old schedule or something, ChumpCar doesn't have a race that weekend that I see. Although I would totally support that, thats like when they used to do demolition derbys/figure 8 before sprint car races at local dirt tracks.

LeMons and ChumpCar are both awesome in their own ways.

If you see any current information about the Champ Car World Series, it's the aforementioned self-run fanfic being organized by a very delusional man in Las Vegas. It doesn't exist.

ChumpCar is at least real racing, rather than parade floats. But it's run by a nutter. World Racing League is where the action will be in 2014.

Also, you Plourde-groupies really shouldn't dignify his delusions with attention or page views. He's obviously pretty sick.

ChumpCar would be cooler if it wasnt just a bunch of 325i's spending thousands in cheater parts, being run by people who actually take themselves seriously, despite trying to pretend really really hard that they dont. Thats been my experience with the series anyway.

Lemons is definitely more of a clusterfuck but thats the charm to me.

But really if you're gonna build a car up from scratch, you might as well build it to Chump rules. Unless you have something really, really awesome/stupid.

Fastest so far this session is Newgarden (1:10.0648) who just brought out the Red flag after putting his car into the tire barrier before Turn 8

Edit: Practice 1 complete, Hinch finishes in P1 at 1:09.8110

Chump has two different types of people racing in it, IME. You have the "I'm going to take a piece of poo poo car racing" folks, and the "I want to go endurance racing but I don't have a trust fund" folks. Most of the latter will use an E30 because why wouldn't you? They make very very good cheap race cars. We normally race a Golf GTI which I adore driving but my best result came in an E30 at the VIR 24 hour race last year (we came second out 106).

As for spending thousands on cheaty bits, dude, this is motorsport. Everyone cheats, at every level. If you aren't then you're not trying hard enough.

Sipag leads P2 with a 1:09.148. No super teams in the top 4.

Looks like were a few tenths faster than last year, where Dario put up a 1:07.239 for pole... we could get down into the 1:06's this year in qual trim, but I don't think we will get to the 1:06.886 track record (Bourdais, 06) I was hoping to see fall.

I just got done running LB laps in the IndyCar and I really suck. I can barely put together a single lap without putting it into the wall.

Microsoft is raffling off a 'Bone and Forza 5 in the expo area. That's about the only way I'd end up owning either.

Anyway, Indychat! Hawksworth looked pretty good in practice, wouldn't be surprised to see him qualify well today.
