Demon Pact's the definite highlight on Melana Chasmata so far. Getting some serious Through Silver In Blood vibes from it.

That song's heavy as hell but all I can hear on the chorus is "A pair of (?????) will incinerate my balls/Corrupted myself and I cannot say 'hello.'" I have to say it's pretty fun to scoop some evil/summon fire and growl "MY BAWLS" along with Tom.

As an album, it's got some really great riffs and passages but there are also some pretty cringeworthy moments, that "Emily" song coming immediately to mind.

Bloodshot Dawn have just launched their kickstarter for their second album. Their first album was absolutely killer, especially so for being entirely self-funded, check it out here if you haven't heard it, some of you might know them already because I first heard about them through this thread. New album is sounding great from the early demo stuff they're shown, so consider backing this for sure.

Thanks for the heads up about this. Always up for supporting more British bands. Hopefully will do great.

EDIT: Those physical rewards are really cheap. Like "are you actually getting any money after the cost of them all?" cheap.

I know it's partly the reason why there doesn't seem to be that much crowdfunding for metal "You want $25 just for a CD? Screw that!" as some people aren't directly aware of the cost of producing all the physical stuff. But after some problems with game kickstarters and ending up losing money due yo physical stuff, makes me a little worried.

Still, will keep my fingers crossed for it.

I haven't listened to them yet but I appreciate them. They're in a giant word document full of bands to check out...which currently has 416 artists.

drat, that sounds clunky. I just use RYM for that. Then again, I do have a wishlist of like 2,500 albums so it's not much better.

Henchman of Santa
Aug 21, 2010
I used to use RYM to sort those artists by acclaim (up until about a week ago. I also still do that for artists who still have albums I have yet to listen to but want). A random number generator is also involved.

Basically I refuse to give up on the futile quest to hear every good band.

I kind of do this too except I mostly just go torrent every band I'm newly introduced to and slowly make my way through it all. Currently about 166 gigs worth I haven't listened to yet.

Pretty good song. Pretty drat crunchy for a Falconer song, but not in a bad way. They've been putting out pretty solid stuff ever since Blad came back. Northwind was really good.

So I discovered today that the dodad I listen to my music on at work can adjust speeds, and so decided to put it up to 150% and put it on shuffle. Learned some things:

Most anything involving Dio turns into music from an NES Mega Man game. I don't know how he managed it, but good on him.
Bal Sagoth is stays exactly as ridiculous as they are at normal speed.
Exodus become even more hilarious than usual.
Bongripper just turns into Goatsnake (listen to Hail and tell me I'm wrong).

Anyone else ever do this? It's stupid as hell but I certainly got a few laughs and a new way to kill time out of it.

Blad's a really good singer, but I've always felt that his vocals a just a little bit lacking for the heavier parts of Falconer. They could stand to be a bit less melodic and have some more punch to them.

I opened this hoping it'd stand up, but it doesn't have the heaviness of Heresy in Disguise or Royal Galley. And his voice isn't as strong as it was on Among Beggars and Thieves and Armod. Hope the rest is better because I love Falconer.

I'm just hoping it's a demo recording or something and they fix the sound mixing in the final product because Blad's voice is at least half of the reason I've followed Falconer religiously. The other guys, especially the ex-Mithotyn members sound good as well, but it just feels like generic bland folk metal without his vocals front and center.

Also because I hate myself I tried sitting through the two Falconer albums that had Kristoffer Gobel on vocals. This is a bad idea, don't do this.
