I love this idea of a way to use your smartphone + some ultralight components to make remote-controlled, powered paper airplanes: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/393053146/powerup-30-smartphone-controlled-paper-airplane?ref=home_popular It's [unfortunately?] one of those runaway success things with over 500k pledged and still like a month and a half to go in the campaign. Love the idea, though.

crosspost from TG kickstarter thread: The Pandante Kickstarter is in its final TWO HOURS! Trump (of Hearthstone and Starcraft fame) is live-streaming it: Try the game here: https://pandante.neocities.org (I scrambled like hell to get that site together at the last minute. It's literally my first web app ever!) But don't forget to pledge before it's too late!

I want to like that game. I have a really hard time getting over just how into pandas the creator seems to be. Like WAY into pandas.

That game looks super confusing. Also I don't understand how David Sirlin developed a game that's supposed to be fun. I thought Sirlin was of the opinion that having fun with games is for scrublords.

TetsuoTW posted:That game looks super confusing. Not really. David Sirlin has pretty good insight in what makes games engaging on many different skill levels. He is all about easy to play and hard to master. And of course asymmetric gameplay, which makes everything more interesting even though you have to do more work to make it balanced. He also did some interesting stuff with the chess ruleset: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-11-03-chess-2-the-sequel-how-a-street-fightin-man-fixed-the-worlds-most-famous-game

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1085386850/my-n3rd-connect-and-control-anything-from-anywhere I like the fact that it's made with a simple goal (internet-enabled via smartphone "switch" for anything) but also the fact that you can configure it to connect to wi-fi stuff like usual wi-fi connected stuff, but with the added perk that if there's no wi-fi available it can create and act as it's own wireless access point so it can always be reached.

Hey hey y'all! I'm doing the illustration for a card game, made by fellow goon Reo and the kickstarter just went up yesterday! Long story short, it's a simple and easy-to-play kickstarter with an overarching convention theme. Gameplay is similar to stuff like Cards Against Humanity in that it's a great party game that's easy to pick up, and is super fun to run through with your geekier/con-going friends! Thanks for checking it out!

Putting an insecure wifi node that controls your car's electronics sounds like a horrible idea. I want the future to happen like this but I know how easy it is for people with an intermediate programming knowledge to get into this stuff.

I like turtles posted:Why yes, I purchased my entire BDSM dungeon furniture/coffee table/cat tree setup from a gentleman on kickstarter, why do you ask --- I would also use some of our Pledge money to try out more Custom Dirty Tops for our End Tables and Coffee Tables where the user gets to choose a messy Dirty stain they want. Choose from different messy things like oil drops, oil smears, pop stains, ketchup stains, Kool-Aid stains! I would also like to add options for you to age, scratch up or even beat up the wood for a worn Dirty Look! I would put a clear coat over the stains to preserve the messy Look into your Wood! Now you have a true Dirty Look! I'll be honest I am NOT a businessman. I am just a Crazy Dreamer / Creator / Inventor! I am Bipolar and my moods vary big time everyday! Its hard for me to even get out of bed sometimes! But I am very creative! I also have extreme anxiety! I am very very shy (anxious) around people. I hardly go outside anymore. This is a huge problem when im trying to tell the world about our New Fun Dirty Furniture! We just opened and have no social media skills/friends! We need your help to help to spread the Dirty word on Facebook and Twitter!

I didn't remember that text, thought you were making it up at first. But no. You weren't. The best things about this project is the copy pasted quote:I will use part of the money for the shipping and then 5% goes to Kickstarter and 3.5% goes to Amazon for processing the payments! Also the fact that he seems to use Sega Genesis or comparable theme music on every video.

Right about to go to bed so I couldn't be bothered to make a thread but it looks like SA's favorite kick starter tried to kill a man, but in the process he only made him stronger: JASON BARNES had wanted to be a professional drummer since he was a teenager. But when he lost his arm in a freak accident he thought his dream was over. Now he has a second chance at the big time – thanks to a brand new robotic arm. Barnes lost the lower half of his right arm two years ago, after getting an electric shock while cleaning a vent hood in a restaurant. But he refused to give up on his musical dream, so he built a simple drumming device out of a brace and some springs that attached to his arm. Link to the dude with new super powers thanks to the Frog Dogman.

It was given ten times the original price, and it's almost a year late. From the kickstarter page: "OpenWorm is an open science project aimed at building a digital organism, a microscopic worm called C. elegans. With this KickStarter we want you to join us in contributing to the creation of the first digital organism and we want to give you your own "WormSim" to play with on your web browser. Your WormSim will improve over time and will get smarter as our model gets better and closer to the real one." I think this is a fantastic idea. Hoping it will start a trend for modeling more complex organisms. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/openworm/openworm-a-digital-organism-in-your-browser

I'm really hoping that Salvaged's funding picks up a bit: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/opposablegames/salvaged Has potential to be a really interesting game with tons of replayability. Control via a tablet ought to solve a lot of the irritations I usually find with RTS minimaps, and the whole "play as Gorman (except hopefully not an incompetent twat)" angle is really cool.
