VVV lol@ Serena Cha Cha at 106.
It will never happen, obvs; there's no place for the true tranimal terrorist on "Drag Race". So if you get a chance to see Christeene, do it. She is awesome. Her shows are amazingly intense and cathartic and also very funny, and for all that her poo poo can be kind of upsetting, there's also something inexplicably winsome and heartfelt about her. Paul Soileau is a genius.

I think Coco Peru would better suit as a judge, but Ru is oddly averse to other drag queens on the judges' panel.

So I've been re-watching Season 4 and I have to say, I think it's probably the worst season. I stopped watching half-way through when it first aired, so I decided to watch it again now to see if maybe I had judged it unfairly. And no. I think it was a valid decision. Here's what I didn't like:

- The criminal under-usage and poor editing of Willam. Willam is super funny, but only when you understand what he's about. I didn't know who he was when I first watched it and with the editing and lack of talking heads in the beginning I just saw him as an arrogant bitch. I feel like it's only around the boat challenge that we really get to see more of Willam, but sadly I had stopped watching by then.

- The overall bitchiness, mostly coming from Phi Phi. I remembered Phi Phi being bad, but even still I was surprised at her "Party City" outburst. I think the difference between her and another mean girl like Roxxxy is that Phi Phi seems really aggressive about it. Roxxxy was a oval office and a half, but she always seemed to at least be trying to be funny about it and didn't take it seriously. I feel like Phi Phi might actually cut a bitch.

- The worst challenges of any season. The wrestling challenge was really stupid as was the boat building. (Although Latrice and Willam definitely turned it out) Tuckahoe wasn't particularly funny either, save for Latrice. And that was the worst Snatch Game. I mean Season 5's wasn't that great, but it was nowhere close to Phi Phi and Kenya's fuckery. It wasn't just unfunny, it was painful to watch.

- Too many annoying/clueless queens and too many cringe-worthy moments of second hand embarrassment. Madame Laqueer, Milan, Jiggly, the Princess; all of them just seemed way out of their league and it was awful watching them flounder around.

Now that being said, I am still entertained so I guess the show did its job. I just feel like there's no queen I'm really rooting for and the level of talent just doesn't seem the same as other seasons. Chad, Willam and Latrice are great, but there's something about Sharon that puts me off. I mean obviously when you're put up against Phi Phi O'Hara you're gonna come off as the better person, but she's too...smug, maybe? for me to really see her as a favourite. But I'm only at Episode 6 so I'll watch more and maybe I'll change my mind.

One funny thing, when all the queens came out in the beginning I actually said "Who?" at Alisa Summers. Oops, sorry girl. I had completely forgotten about her.

what a humorous anecdote.
One thing I will say in season 4's defense: None of the big queens wore the same thing over and over like in seasons 3, 4 and 5. (And now Darienne in 6, how in the hell hasn't she been read for that yet)

Take it back, Jiggly was amazing solely for the dumbfounded look she does after Lashauwn's classic "Rupaul's Best Friend Race" outburst. I like Jiggly, I'm not sure why, but I think it has something to do with her getting her name from a Pokemon. Definitely way out of her league though. :)

I was in love with Sharon while the season aired, but that was also the first season I watched and pretty much my first exposure to drag outside of Pickle Surprise. I agree that there's something a little too "over it" about her, or something. She's definitely more than a little impressed with herself. Having seen her live, too, she does rest a little on the "I'm spooky and weird, gently caress you" schtick, whereas a lot of the other queens I've seen do vastly different poo poo than they did on the show. I liked Sharon's attitude and message a lot when I first saw the season, and I still do to an extent, but I definitely agree about her.

Her Snatch Game Michelle is still my favorite impersonation ever. HAHAHA :witch:

But then there was the message from Alaska on untucked :3:

I dunno about Season 4 being the worst. I loved Sharon to pieces at the time (and have since cooled a bit on her since). She was the first real kooky/scary/different queen (with talent) in contrast with all of the "fierce bitch" personas that came before her. She stomped down that runway looking like Salad Fingers and blood gushing from her mouth and it was such a jaw dropping awesome experience. But now we've seen from similar off-flavor queens like Alaska, Jinx, Milk...so Sharon is no longer such an oddity.

Season 3 is the most boring IMHO. Raja was and is all kinds of awesome, but she was so head and shoulders above the rest of her competition that it wasn't really much of a competition at all. It was obvious since episode one she would win. Plus the whole Heathers thing was the most grating clique bullshit ever.

Season 3 had Manila's Macarthur Park lipsync though.

So, here's a question; if you had to recommend one season to someone who was totally new to the show, which would it be? I was thinking 4 because there were so many great moments and Sharon hadn't fallen from grace yet, but Tin Miss makes a good point about the weak challenges. I'd blocked out the loving boats.

Hard to say, I think each one has its pros and cons.

Season 1 has some great queens and it's quick, easy to get into, and a logical starting point. It also has loving horrible production value, the Vaseline-cam is pretty brutal and it feels like the show doesn't know what it's doing yet. And loving Rebecca Glasscock.

Season 2 has Jujubee, Raven, great challenges and a ton of talent, but it still feels like the show hasn't hit its stride yet. Also NICOLE PAIGE BROOKS, although short lived, is unbearable. I think it's probably the least satisfying season because of Tyra's win, too. She's talented as poo poo and gorgeous but has no personality whatsoever and just makes sour faces all season. I'm still butthurt about neither Jujubee nor Raven getting the crown though.

Season 3 had some fun challenges and finally feels like the show hit its stride. The queens, though, felt like a lot of cannon fodder and yeah, it's pretty clear Raja is destroying it all. Not to mention all of that stupid Heathers poo poo, the Mimi Fiasco, etc. Still had some lovable queens, I love me some Stacey Layne Matthews, henny. And Shangela. Shangela is both a pro and a con.

Season 4 we've discussed. Goofy uninspired challenges and middling talent at times, but it has some classic moments from when the show first started to get huge. Also has some of the best lip syncs of the series.

Season 5 starts to feel a little too producer-meddly and some of the lip syncs really show that. Jinkx got a loving Yma Sumac song. The challenges and personalities were much more fun than season 4, though, save for the prefab Coco-Alyssa feud. Also Alaska was on this season, which automatically makes it best. The cast felt pretty cannon-foddery, with a lot of queens you just knew weren't even top five material.

I think season 6 is shaping up to be my favorite, actually. Bianca and Adore are everything.

Season 5 is definitely my favourite. Alaska and Jinkx were both super charming and talented and it was nice to see another non-pageant queen win. (Even though I think it should have been Alaska as well)

Roxxxy was a bitch, but still beautiful, unlike wonky-eyelash Phi Phi. (Her Mexican outfit was gorgeous and I loved her blazer/Mohawk thing) Detox was polished and obviously quite talented and while the Coco/Alyssa drama was stupid they were also super talented and great at lip-synching.

Ivy may not have been as experienced as the rest, but she was a pleasure to watch with her good attitude and creative abilities and Vivienne and Honey were boring, but that resulted in an awesome and well-deserved double elimination that seemed to shock just about everyone.

The only person who really didn't fit was Serena Cha Cha and she was mercifully cut early on. (Would have been even earlier if Penny had remembered the drat words!)

fake edit: Okay, so Monica wasn't really on the same level either, but her coming out got me all emotional so I'll give her a pass.

I actually don't think that Jinx got the Yma Sumac song on purpose, but it was rather a happy coincidence that it worked out that way. Ru mentions that they've prepared the Lip Sync in advance so they know the songs that are going to be lip synced before the season begins but they don't know the order. From there I think the producers have some flexibility to shuffle the songs around. Obviously you have to use a guest judge's song when they're there so those songs are set in stone. I think the Yma Sumac song was supposed to be used for the Tellanovella challenge because that would make the most sense, but then Coco and Alyssa were in the bottom two so they used Cold Hearted instead. Therefore Malambo #1 was left for last by default.

I agree that season 6 is setting up to be the best. The level of competition is just so strong this season.

I still really like Season 1. It was held in a broom closet and the grand prize was a pat on the back, but everyone was so gentle. The "bitch" of the season was Rebecca Glasscock, because sometimes she'd sulk or be late, which tells you a lot about that season's poor-but-friendly vibe.

It really only became clear after the performance how well it suited Jinkx. Had Jinkx failed to deliver, everyone would've said, "well, Jinkx never had a chance, they obviously gave Detox a song that let her feature her jaw-wiggle," even though that had started to lose its novelty.

There was so much on catty drama on Untucked in Season 4, it was unreal. I remember being ridiculously entertained when the contestants argued right through Ru's "Peek-a-ru, I see you!" and missed out on meeting Dita von Teese in the next room. (They just straight up ignored the TV prompt!)

I don't get Untucked. :(

I'm still slogging my way through Season 4 and I just...why did they have to be pregnant? Seriously, WTF? Also, the political challenge was so boring I skipped right to the runway. And then they were dressed like dogs? I stand by my "worst challenges ever". At least Season 5's candy making challenge made sense fashion-wise. "Dog park realness?" Really?

Phi Phi is unbearable now that we're down to so few girls. They way she freaked out over Sharon saying she's too cutthroat on the runway, it's like CHILL girl. I'm kind of glad I don't get Untucked because I'm sure she's even more abrasive backstage. And the worst part is she's actually making me like Roxxxy now. I mean at least Roxxxy didn't look like a burnt ham with conjunctivitis. I honestly can't tell the difference between Phi Phi's "funny" Chola look she did in the music challenge and the rest of her drag. In the words of Alyssa Edwards "Girl, look how loving orange you look girl!"

Definitely looking forward to tonight's episode as a palette cleanser. Might watch some Beatdown too for good measure. I'm loving #Holepic.

This is really probably the tightest top five that they've ever had. I could really see any of them making it to the top five, and if it weren't for Darienne's villain edit for a few episodes there, I'd say that I could easily see any of them winning.

I don't even care about the dumb villain editing she got or whatever, I'm just so bored looking at her that it'll be a crime if she's top 3.

Adore's whining was really getting to me this episode, though. Next week's going to be a sewing challenge, she has a good chance of going. Bianca will probably take it barring anything going horribly wrong...or Ben can take it, she won the sewing challenge in her first ep, too.

Good-bye Joz, it was your time to go, but you made this season a lot more fun. Womp womp

I'm so sad that Adore seems to be starting to lose it. I've really come to love her, but it's sink or swim at this point, and while she keeps bobbing to the top, floating doesn't count as swimming in this competition. Like all Reality TV shows, this show is as much about psychological endurance as it is "the competition", and since the next challenge is one of the "do three looks" challenges that totally stressed out Roxxy, Alaska, and Jinkx last season, queens who were really at the top of their game — and one of the previews seems to show the infamously non-sewing Adore starting to break in the workroom in front of Ru — , I don't think she'll be long for the Race. :sigh: EDIT: Or, even more likely, I'm easily manipulated by producers who are about to give Adore the biggest loving Redemption Edit ever.

Still a possibility that someone could really screw up, either on the runway or in the lipsync, but it would take a hell of a lot of screw ups to lift the Three Strikes Curse from Adore if she has to lipsync. On the other hand, after wearing yet another bag down the runway in this episode, I'm 100% fine with Darienne getting ruthlessly sashayed by...just about anyone, really.
